Sleeping Dragon of Shu Fabie01 Baby has a post on there website looking for a store manager! and it says for spring 09, sooo Im pretty sure they are still shooting for that time. I think they are going to open the week of the cherry blossom festival scene thats when there will be the most people in japan town, especially the malls. If they do that, it will be in a temporary building until the shopping center is done.
Does anyone know if it's going to be like a mini Harajuku? I know it's in J-Town, but I wonder if they'll have Little Harajuku or something inside of it? Unfortunately, I doubt it. The building was supposed to be a Viz multimedia center, which means it will probably be focused on manga and anime rather than fashion [if it opens at all].
At this rate, it may not be done for quite a while. The economy is really slacking, and Viz [as well as TokyoPop] aren't doing so hot.

Ah, that's very true, but one can only hope. I really hope that they might have a temporary spot for it, though.

They were a replica "brand" only for a rather long while.

*le gasp* I had no idea! I feel so cheated... T^T Aha ha, only exaggerating. I did think it was a little fishy at first how AH didn't have many designs compared to AP or BABY. Does this mean they are basically unofficial?

Does this mean they are basically unofficial? Not unofficial, just very small. In terms of brands, I'd equate them to something closer to Pina/Pina Sweet Collection or Aya. I'm not sure if Anna House has their work produced in their own shops or a factory, however.
Have you checked out any of the TaoBao sellers before? Many of the "brands" listed on TaoBao are of the level of Anna House or even above, but still relatively small. They also have some gorgeous designs.

I see now. Aya's another one of my favorites, too! I geuss I have a tendency to prefer smaller brands, except AatP, but that's a sub-brand.
I just checked it out, and if I found the right one, then it's difficult to navigate. Maybe if I knew Chinese, but that's not up my alley. I'll take your word for it.

Surface Spell * Dear Celine * HMHM Kid's Yoyo * Infanta * Momo & Jia Baby Shop * 浣熊的布衣作坊◆Lolita洋装专卖 [I don't know if they have a different name that they use for their labels like the others do]. Lolita Princess RSeries * The Dream of Lolita Rococo Cage Akane & Alois Classical Puppets Fan & Wang Rose Cross Second Hand Brand [This is a resale shop for Japanese brands] 69th Department
I need to review all of these thoroughly before I put them up in the links list, still, but the ones with asterisks are the ones I most highly recommend at this point. They're ones I've seen pieces from, or have heard good reviews about.

Good news, everyone! Baby just put up an announcement on their page. Their recruiting has gotten more intense and they're starting interviews for their managerial position for the San Francisco store next month! If all goes well, maybe this means that the new store will open in the fall as has been rumored after all!

Everyone is conflicted, some people saying "Oh! It should be open by this time!" and some people saying "No, it will be a while before it opens..."
But I'm pretty sure that most would agree that it should be up and running by Summer 2010.
And for that purpose, we have planned a HUGE road trip from Georgia to California~! All in the name of Lolita! {And of course Baby, the Stars Shine Bright!}
p.s. (a little off topic) My boyfriend was telling me about a con he went to and saw a girl in Lolita and asked "Is that Baby the Stars Shine Bright?" and she was all "How do you know?!?" ^-^ Aww, I find that adorable that he remembers my favorite Lolita brand and can even recognize it!

sickle_bloodless awesome.... but now...If only i LIVED THERE. I hope they have a online webpage like the DOLFIE one does!!!! The SF store will probably have a blog with updates about what's going on in their shop. The Paris store and the Japanese stores all operate in a similar manner, so as to keep their clients in the know for sales, specials, and events.
