Arin felt perfectly at home in her body suit as soon as soon as she cut a hole for her tail. Steeping into the training room, she looked at the vast space. "They didn't skimp on anything for this thing, did they?" She looked around, spotting a small room off to the side, outside of the training area that held the computer system. "There they are. What do you think, love? Do you want to start out slow and work your way up, or just jump right in? I warn you: It's ten times stronger gravity on Nexum."
Aki swallowed quietly. "Yeah. And I bet I can beat you in a spar, too." She grinned to Arin, who disappeared into the room. Suddenly, Aki heard her cry "OK, get ready!" And the gravity increased so drastically that Aki was dragged down to the floor. Arin smiled, rolling her shoulders easily, completely relaxed. "How did you live on that planet!?" Aki tried to push herself up to stand. "I think the spar might have to wait until I can move..." Aki pushed herself off of the ground, fighting herself to a standing position. "It's not too hard, I suppose."

Arin smiled "Trust me... It's a lot easier after you get used to it. Besides, think about the advantages. After you get used to this, we can turn it up even higher, and you can watch me fall flat on my face." She smiled, turning to face the wall "Alice! I would like you to adjust the gravity to this level for the entire ship, if you would be so kind!"
"Of course, milady.
Arin sighed and walked to a weight bench, setting it for a couple hundred earth pounds, laying down and lifting it off the rack
Aki was left to fend for herself. She needed to accustom herself to this gravity, or else she wouldn't be able to even walk around the ship. She sighed, attempting to take a step towards Arin. The way she figured, she had about eight steps to get to her lover... She thought that Arin might have planned it that way. She lifted her foot and tried to move it forward without her entire body following it to the floor.

((Arin's DC = 10 Roll + 5)) PASS: 2/2 ((Aki's DC = 13 Roll + 5)) PASS: 3/9
Arin figured that Aki's best incentive in that tight little suit was herself, so she had placed herself just far enough that Aki should have accustomed herself more or less to the gravity by the time she got there. Arin grinned, lowering the weight once more so that she could keep herself training and resist her urge to run and help Aki. There was no way to get around it. Aki needed to know what this gravity felt like, otherwise, she wouldn't be able to function at all on Nexum, or many other planets. Come to think of it... I don't even know what we're going to Nexum for... I don't even think I will need another addition to our team. Aki and I could cover this ourselves... And just think of that. She inhaled lightly at the thought, fighting to stay on task.
Aki succeeded in her first step. And it seemed to grow easier. She might be getting the hang of this. And if she was, she could get to Arin that much sooner. She lifted her second foot, and tried to place it in front of her, hoping that she wouldn't get off-balance and fall on her face in front of Arin, who was staring intently at her weights. Aki felt a pang of hurt... And then she realized that this was just as hard for Arin as it was for her... Arin was forcing herself to stay away from Aki... To give Aki incentive to train? She grinned softly. That's her game... Suddenly, she remembered their days on Earth together. When Arin had retaught her how to fly... She had wanted me to come into her arms... She had set herself there for me to come to... Aki laughed softly, trying to force her leg forward

Arin pushed the weights up again, trying to keep her mind clear and to fall into the monotony of mindless training. But she couldn't Her mind kept wandering towards Aki, just six simple steps away... She couldn't baby her like she did on Earth... She had to let Aki walk on her own two legs for a while... Otherwise they'd never be able to conquer anything. Arin felt weaker in her familiar gravity, but she was stronger than she had been in this gravity before... Aki would be completely unable to defend herself on that hellhole if she couldn't even tolerate the gravity. She shuddered to think what might happen to her love if she got caught by a group of irritated saiyans on Nexum... Come on, love... You're not too far away now...
Aki felt her foot pound against the ground, and her muscles were complaining at the strain. But she couldn't give in. She needed Arin... And Arin wasn't going anywhere. Aki needed to get to her. It felt... wrong to be even this far away. How would they ever fight? They wouldn't be able to stand by each other and beat someone into oblivion. They would need to be up to hundreds of feet away form each other... I know... We'd both know that if we weren't where we needed to be, we'd let the other die... I don't think anyone could survive that... It would be so horrible... Aki felt pain to be six feet from Arin... She couldn't imagine her dying... That would be completely and overwhelmingly crushing. She would die from the pain of that alone. She wouldn't even need to be killed...

Arin heard the thump of Aki's knee hitting the floor, but she forced herself not to look. If she looked, she wouldn't be able to stay this far away... She felt a tear roll down her cheek, but showed no other outward signs of her pain, instead raising the weights once more, and lowering them to prepare for the next rep. She closed her eyes, not wanting to even see Aki form the corner of her eye, lest her resolve falter and she would not be able to let Aki train... It was wrong... But then Aki would be on her level... And then they could train together. Arin kept her eyes closed, taking comfort in the fact that soon they would be able to push themselves harder without having to be apart.
Aki felt, heard, and saw her knee buckle and hit the tile. It didn't hurt, but it was proof that she wasn't good enough yet. She closed her eyes and pictured Arin last night... And then opened her eyes and looked forward at Arin, wearing that bodysuit that wrapped itself around her every voluptuous curve. She wanted her... But it was time to train... Maybe if they did well today, they could reward each other. She smiled devilishly, pushing on the ground to try and force herself back into a standing position. With luck, she would be able to push herself onto her forward leg, and not be set back a step. She didn't want to put more distance between herself and Arin... That would be completely wrong...

Arin's thoughts paralleled Aki's... She couldn't wait for that night... In fact, if she had a choice, she would have taken Aki right then and there... NO! Aki's well-being was more important than any fun they might have... Although, that would be a hell of a way to get used to the extra gravity... Arin laughed softly to herself, keeping her eyes shut tight, so that she couldn't see Aki in her suit... She was absolutely gorgeous... Training! Arin lowered the weights and prepared to lift them again. She wouldn't stop until Aki was comfortable. She promised herself that. Arin needed to practice to protect her lover... And Aki needed to learn to protect herself. Arin picked up the pace. She needed to keep herself busy.
Aki lifted herself to a standing position, hoping to get to Arin sooner, rather than later... Although it didn't really bother her more than wanting to touch Arin again. She knew that neither of them would be able to resist much longer. She almost wanted to try and fly to Arin, but didn't let herself give in to temptation. She wanted to be ready to protect Arin. And she was going to be. She was not going to let Arin be hurt because of her inadequacy. She needed to train so that she could protect her lover, and Arin needed to practice to help protect herself.

Arin kept her pace doubled, but it just wasn't enough to distract her... Aki was right beside her... Four feet out of reach... And it was driving her insane. She couldn't let herself get lost in her memories, or her hopes. Nor even her plans. She needed to train. She kept pushing and lowering the weights. She couldn't allow herself to lose her strength, or to fall out of practice... She needed to protect Aki... She couldn't stand it if something happened to her. She would go on a rampage... And then she would kill herself to be with her. She knew that was true. It may not have been long, but Arin knew that she loved this woman. She knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her ridiculously long life with her...
Aki put her next foot forward and exhaled with the effort that was slowly growing easier for her. In fact, it was hardly more than challenging at the moment. She was getting used to it already. And she knew what it would mean when she got used to this gravity. We will train together, however that might be. That thought alone was enough to keep her pushing on, and she was completely restored, pushing forward with renewed vigor. She wasn't going to let herself be kept from Arin by something as trivial as gravity. And she'd be damned if it would even slow her down.

And then it hit her... Aki was... Human. She continued her exercise, numb. Aki's going to die... She's going to die... And I'm going to be left alone... One thousand years. She's got maybe ninety... But.. There has to be a way... There has to be. This can't happen... She remembered that there were supposedly two 'wise ones' at each end of Nexum... If there was anyone who knew what those means might be... It would be them. She knew her reason for wanting to go to Nexum, now. She knew that she was returning because she needed to know how to keep Aki... And that's what she would do when she got to Nexum... But she had heard that there was no one who had ever spoken to one of those people. There must be a reason for them to be avoided as such... I need to train harder!
Aki lifted and placed her foot with a minimal effort. She wasn't going to fail. She was going to get this done, so that she could have Arin once more. She didn't know why they were going to Nexum. In fact, she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to know why they were returning to Arin's home planet. Aki watched as Arin seemed to go somewhere else for a moment, but her body kept moving. Aki remembered moments like those. Moments where something so overwhelming consumes you, and it does so so quickly that your body doesn't even think to stop. She'd had a few in the past, while she was training. What could she be thinking about? Aki couldn't imagine what could scare or upset Arin that much... But whatever it was, it must be the reason. That was the only explanation. That look was the reason Arin was taking her back to this inhospitable planet. Aki wanted to go, now. To find out what was wrong and to fix it.

Arin seemed to do better training when she wasn't thinking. But there wasn't going to be time for zoning out. She needed to focus and become strong enough to destroy those wise men, and to rip the answer from their old throats, if she had to. She gave herself back to her training. She lost track of how long they had been in there, and of exactly how far Aki had come. She wasn't absorbing anything but the task of becoming stronger. She needed this as much as she needed Aki. Because she couldn't have one without the other. The weights were like feathers in her hands. She would need to up her weight next time. This was pathetic. She couldn't become stronger with these... Not fast enough, anyway.
Aki was two steps from being able to reach Arin... But the gravity was hardly affecting her at all. She was able to walk almost normally, and her body seemed to be getting used to this much more quickly than she had thought. In fact, she didn't think this would be a serious problem for her after a little while longer. Aki didn't know how long it had taken her for this --It was kind of hard to tell time in a space ship in a room with no clocks-- but it wasn't going to be much longer before she was completely at ease in her lover's familiar gravity. She thought for a second... Oh, no! I must weigh half a ton! The thought amused her, and she bit back laughter. It was funny that, considering her circumstances, she was concerned about her weight. She stifled her laughter and prepared to close the distance between her and Arin, attempting to walk naturally.

Arin focused on the barbell, but she wasn't looking at it... More like through it. The idea was just too heavy... It was like she was carrying a planet on her shoulders now... But she forced it away. She had lots of time with Aki. And they would find a way to make sure they had even more. She was completely sure of that. There wouldn't be anything that would stop them. Damn the Universe. All the powers in the entire damn thing couldn't stop her from finding a way to do this. She wasn't going to let Aki die. Not by soldier, not by accident, and certainly not by time. She was all Arin had... And she wasn't about to let her go. Arin pushed the weights back up and racked them again, staring at the ceiling for a moment.
Aki was almost there. She just had one more simple step to take. In fact, she almost felt at home. This could have been Earth, it was so easy. She was surprised at just how much it had affected her at first. That must have just been the surprise. That must have been it. It had just come as such a surprise to her. She hadn't been ready for it. But she was now. And she would be next time, too. She decided she was going to do this right. Arin seemed done with her training. Aki bent both her legs slightly, smiling. And then she leaped forward, landing with her knees to each side of Arin's waist. Aki was straddling her, smiling and looking into her eyes. "Guess what?" Aki kissed Arin lightly, grinning from ear to ear.

Arin pushed all those thoughts aside as she looked into Aki's eyes. It didn't matter. Nothing was going to stand in her way. Aki would become immortal. And that was that. Now, though, it was a matter of making sure she could take care of herself in the mean time. Arin wouldn't be around forever, so it was necessary to teach Aki how to really fight. "Oh, really, now? It took you this long? I overestimated you, darling." Arin gave a sly grin as she kissed Aki once more. "Well, then... I suppose it's time for you to learn to take care of yourself... How about it? Would you rather learn ki skills or would you prefer to just know how to beat something senseless?" Arin sat up and stood as Aki jumped off of her.
Aki grinned at Arin's teasing, and kissed her again, springing lithely up and looking around the room. There was a lot of space for fighting, so it didn't matter to her. Although, she did want to know how to really fight. Otherwise, she'd be stuck as the distraction while Arin took care of everything. "Well, I said I'd beat you in a spar. So we should probably get that done with, huh?" Aki smiled and fell back into her natural fighting stance, her left hand in front of her, sighting in her target, with her right hand behind her, preparing to strike. She wasn't going to give Arin time to strike first. Aki knew that she probably didn't have much chance of actually ever hitting Arin, but she'd damn well try. A quick step forward, with a punch aimed at Arin's chest.

Arin was hit in the chest, but she managed to shrug it off. She took a step backward as Aki hit her, dropping down to throw a sweeping kick at her partner's feet, hoping to throw her off balance enough for a second swinging kick to hit her. Hopefully the kicks would get through and wouldn't hurt Aki too much. They had a lot of training to do if this was her best. Her weapon was useful, true, but if she didn't have it, there wasn't much to be done with her martial skill.

Both of Arin's kicks struck true. The first one succeeded in taking Aki's legs off the ground. The second kick --when Arin had turned another full circle-- had hit Aki in the ribs, sending her rolling across the ground. Trying to salvage the situation, Aki spotted her bo laying in her path of travel. She reached out, grabbed it, and sprang to her feet, landing low and ready.
Aki flew forward, the air around her distorting, bending the images around her, and thrust the bo towards her opponent, forcing her ki through the pole to increase the concussive force of the impact. A ripple of distortion flowed up the shaft, towards Arin's body.
