Lysander smiled as he watched Simia go back to the cave and started his search for food. He didn't want to disappoint his mate in such an important thing like supplying food for her, so Ly made sure he had enough for her to eat, catching a small deer that had been injured and he even made sure to catch a golfer since his mate seemed to developed a liking for them. He personally didn't much care for them but he would do anything for Simia.
All in all it took longer then he wanted to catch the food and bring it back to the cave and he was hoping nothing had gone wrong in the time he was gone.

Simia breathed heavily, clenching and relaxing her paws. She'd brought a lot of leaves and soft stuff into the cave - even some gopher fur from past suppers...
And no sooner had she finished than she began to feel what she assumed must be labor pains.
And they were called 'pains' for a reason.
Aside from the contractiong - which racked her body in pain, by the way - tears ran down her face, and she was struggling to keep from spazzing out and... and what? Jumping off a cliff? Simia wasn't entirely sure the option was that crazy at this point.
She had just FOUND OUT that she was pregnant a few hours ago! Didn't she at least get another day or two to get used to the idea before she had to worry about EGGS?
"Ooooooh..." Simia moaned. It had finally sunk in. SHE WAS GOING TO BE A MOM. The thought made her feel... old. And she didn't like feeling old. "LYSANDER!!!!"

Lysander had almost been to the entrance of the cave when he heard Simia yell for him. Dropping his burden on the ground, Ly ran the rest of the way into the cave. "Meeya! What's wrong?" Lysander asked worriedly looking his mate over carefully to see if he could spot anything obviously wrong.

"Couldn't you have told me a little EARLIER that you thought I was pregnant?" Simia growled, "Because I think they're coming, like, NOW?!"
Despite her harsh words, she was glad to have him there with her... He was the first male she'd ever even THOUGHT about actually becoming mates with... And it was comforting to have him there with her during her first egg-laying experience.
Simia cried out suddenly. She could feel it: The eggs... They were coming NOW.

Lysander looked at Simia helplessly, he had never done this before and didn't know what he should do. "I'm sorry love, I just didn't know how to bring it up and I wanted to make sure it was true before I said anything.
Cautiously Ly came closer to Simia, unsure if his presence was wanted. "I'm here for you Meeya, just tell me what you want me to do."

((I'm gonna do a little time skip, so we can get to hatching... since, Ya' know, Laurus and Pembe are already TEENS, cert-wise. xd ))
"I want you..." Simia paused, racked with pain, "to... to... OH! GET READY TO BE A FATHER!" She cried out again, but this time it was different... This time... Simia officially became a mother.

About a week later, Simia lay in her cozy, leaf-and-gopher-coated nest, gazing happily at her eggs. At her two, perfect, beautiful eggs... Her's and Lysander's. They were parents. They were mates. They would be together... forever. And they would raise kids... maybe eventually they would be grandparents...
Woah. Simia rose and shook her head, trying to snap out of that 'looking-forward' feeling. It was making her feel old.
Just then, there was a tiny 'crack' in one of the eggs. Her eyes widened.
"LYSANDER!!!"

Lysander had been hunting again, his catch swung from his teeth. The eggs would hatch soon and he wanted to make sure he had enough for them to eat. Hearing a call go out, Ly began running. There was no way he was missing his children be born.
Reaching the entry way he quickly made his way over to Simia and the eggs. One was hatching already. "Were parents!" Ly whispered before realising they would need easy food for the soon to be hungry hatchlings.
Without taking his eyes off the eggs, Ly began tearing into his kill getting hatching sized pieces ready for them. He didn't want to choke after all.
Pembe could easily hear the muffled call of a name and wondered what was going on. Not satisfied with simply staying in his egg anymore, he began rocking, hoping that would help.

Simia gave a small gasp of excitement, feeling tears come to her eyes. She was... She was a Mom! And Lysander was the father... What an amazing feeling...
Laurus lay curled up in his shell. There was a small crack in the previously smooth surface... He tinkered with it, poking a small, baby claw into the small opening and trying to enlarge it. A small piece of the eggshell was hanging by a thread. He poked it thoughtfully, and it fell back into the eggshell. A small shaft of light poked into the shell. Laurus blinked and thrust his paw through the hole, wondering what was out there...

Lysander stepped closer to Simia as he watched wanted to be closer to her. His eyes kepts jumping from one egg to the other not wanting to miss anything.
Pembe was having no luck breaking the egg open, Continueing his rocking he managed to get from his spot and hit the other egg. Of corse Pembe didn't didn't know he knocked the other egg with his, all he knew was that it caused a crack that he could work with. Maybe now I can get free.

Simia's eyes widened.
"Oh look! A paw!" she breathed happily, subconsciously leaning against Lysander, resting her head on his shoulder.
The eggs bumped together briefly.
"Aw, that's so cute!" she laughed softly.
Yeah... 'Cute'.
Laurus blinked as his egg suddenly rocked to one side. It felt like an earth quake! ... Not that Laurus knew what that was. Another crack formed in the side of his egg, and he thrust his other paw through that crack. Then he pushed his paws together, cracking the front of the egg. It disintegrated, falling onto the ground of the nest. He blinked out at his parents.

Lysander watched transfixed, this was one of the best moments of his life and he vowed to always remember it. He not only had a mate but his very own children where hatching right in front of him.
Nodding at Simia, Ly was more worried then anything. Did that hurt? Were they okay? His attention was quickly brought to the first egg to show signs of hatching when another claw came through and only moments later his first child was free. "Hello son, welcome to the world."
Pembe scratched at the crack wanting it to widen but he wasn't having much luck. Why wouldn't it let him out? All he wanted to do was see what was going on but how could he do that if he couldn't get out? Looking at the crack, Pembe shifted until his back legs were agaist it, which caused much wild rocking from the outside, and kicked with them. It did almost what he wanted it to. He managed to kick through the shell but now his legs were hanging out of the egg while his main body was still inside.

Laurus blinked at his father. His father? That was his father, wasn't it? and the dragon next to him must be his mother? Interesting... He blinked over at the other egg beside him as he crawled out of the remainder of his shell. His... brother? Or sister? Whatever the gender, it appeared to be having some trouble with it's egg...
Then Laurus sniffed the air, taking his first big breath of the outside world... What was that smell...
Simia squeeled happily.
"The food! The food! Get him some food!" she ordered playfully, leaning down toward her son. Her son...

Lysander grinned, "Yes dear," and obeyed his wife by pushing the food closer to the hatchling. He eyes rested on the last egg and the eggs sticking out of them. He really wanted to help but knew it would only weaken his child. That didn't mean if there wasn't progress he wouldn't help but he was willing to wait...for now at least.
Pembe was getting annoyed. What good was getting his feet free if the rest of him was still stuck. He just knew he was missing some important gossip by being stuck in this...this jail. Well he had enough. He was going to get free right this second. Using his free legs, he pushed and pushed until at last he conected to something solid and hard. Satisfied, Pembe prepared himself and gave one last push into the wall. A loud crack could be heard at the egg broke apart. Finally he was free and looking at two very large dragons and one only slightly larger then him.

Simia squeeled as the second hatchling broke free of its shell.
"OH!!!" She dashed over and nearly tackled her second son, licking him all over excitedly.
Laurus took a bite of the strange stuff placed in front of him, using his mouth to explore the strange world.
"Mmm..." he murmured. It was good! He wondered what made it taste so good... He dug in, only stopping when his brother finally hatched. Then he wandered over to examine him.
He winced as Simia then picked him up and started licking him.
"Mom!" he complained.
"GAH! HE KNOWS I'M HIS MOM!" Simia yelled excitedly, "DID YOU HEAR THAT LYSANDER?!"

Lysander grinned at his mate, "Of corse he does love, and what a lucky one to have you as his mom, just like I'm lucky to have you as my mate."
Making his way closer he smiled at his sons, both healthy and whole. "Welcome to the world you two. Have you names?" Ly asked knowing some dragons just knew their names when they were born and others were named by their parents.
Pembe watched who he assumed to be his brother get licked by his mother. He was kind of thankful he had been in the way because Pem was sure he would have been the one under the licks if he hadn't. Turning his little head to his father he tilted his head to the side, "I like Pembe..." Pembe began but was interuppred by his stomach growling, "and I'm hungry."
