Melody had known there was something odd about her pregnancy, but it was Luna who first pinpointed what exactly was going on.
She had to admit, her own memories of pregnancy being hazy at best; Grandma June was pregnant with Auntie Luna so manymany years ago, and when Melody had asked her own father what her mother was like, all he could answer was that one day, they were getting married, and a few days later, his gracefulbeautiful wife suddenly didn't feel well, and pop! Out came Tsuyoshi and Melody!
Not exactly helpful, Melody had decided.
But something was definitely odd. Definitely, definitely odd. Like how Melody was only just a bit smaller than Auntie Amena, but Auntie Amena was so much closer to her due date than Melody. Perhaps just a large baby, she'd assumed, but for it to be that large so soon? That couldn't be right, right?
That was what she'd asked her Auntie Luna during a routine checkup, and that was when Luna's eyes widened and a very strange look came over her face as she'd informed Melody in Porcelain mindspeech that no, it WASN'T normal.
For one baby.
And Luna lifted Melody's blouse right then and there and pressed her ear against her belly. No stethoscope, no doppler; just her own ear and her own mind.
To the outside observer, the silence would have been deafening. But Melody could hear the faint projections Luna sent; gentle, questioning, searching. Looking to provoke a reaction. ANY reaction. Poke, poke, poke, went the projections, and then, more silence. Poke, poke, poke.
Poke, poke, poke.
Poke, poke, poke.
Poke, poke--
And suddenly, a noise caught between surprise and triumph escaped Luna's lips. Aha! There it was! That slight variation in heartbeat. That faint dissonance.
She had been right all along.
Melody wasn't having just one baby.
She, like her mother, was having twins.

Melody, pregnancy retreat
Upon informing a shopkeeper that she has arrived in the Silver World again, Melody very soon reunites with Jin, who leads her to hir residence... through a very confusing network of streets, even an underground passageway and several gateways attended by guards. It seems that Jin's apartment, a small but two-story house, is within the walls of the Palace, though sie uses this strange backdoor entry to access it. Jin naturally draws a map for Melody when they reach the house so that she may come and go as she likes.
Jin sets up a comfortable bed on the first floor so that Melody will not have to deal with the steep stairs; though the space is a little bit cramped, it is cozy, and the house is located inside a walled garden within the grounds, fairly small but with enough room to spread out one's belongings or have a nice nap.
Jin spends a great deal of hir time at home, sewing outfits for the dolls or painting their expressions, reading, or just snoozing. On the other hand, sie seems willing to go out exploring with Melody whenever she feels like it.
Melody is in the Capital of the Silver World; it is Sovereignty of Toutei 1007. She is staying at the house of Jin, an idle dollmaker. According to an offhand remark made by Jin, living surrounded by other Porcelain is believed to be healthy for growing children; perhaps it will have a beneficial effect on Melody's unborn babies as well?
Melody can spend no more than three months in the Silver World before she must return to Gaia.

It had taken her five full days to figure out where she was.
Of course, part of this was due to just how occupied she found herself here in the so-called Silver World (Which she'd only just now realized was this space-pastry her father had rambled on and on about). So many sights to see, experiences to experience, people to observe... It was all just so new and foreign to her to see a world populated by Porcelain. To see a world where people didn't have multiple sets of wings growing out of every available inch of their bodies, where so many people claimed to have been descended from gods or goddesses that one just began to tune them out after a while, where Melody didn't look at a person and wonder if they'd be able to hear her projections, or if they'd laugh at her attempts to speak, or if they'd turn out to be some cruel demon or--
It almost scared her, in a way.
Now she understood somewhat what Great-Grandpa Setsutsu was going through! Well, except in reverse. To be so startled by a simple dress, or a pair of sandals, or to be horribly confused by yet another species of humanoid... Melody had simply accepted it all as normal. But now here she was in a strange world, with none of the modern conveniences she'd taken for granted, where everyone adhered to a code that Melody simply couldn't understand. (Except the apparent dress code; Melody picked that up VERY quickly)
It wasn't until the novelty wore off a bit that Melody had thought to consider just where this place was. (Once again, she'd taken world-hopping for granted. Not that she'd actually BEEN to her grandmother's homeworld, but she knew how easy it was for people to go back and forth between Neilan and Gaia). And that's when she realized that this was the place Auntie Nusumu had been, the place her father rambled about, the place whose dirt he'd searched for. (Melody wouldn't forget the confused look on Jin's face when she asked for a bottle in which to collect dirt to take home).
And now, Melody had something of a mission. Learn everything she can about the Space Danish. (It wasn't even REMOTELY like a Danish! What on earth was Daddy TALKING about?) Report her findings to her father. And possibly, quite possibly, be a major help to something important!
But also, while she was here...
Maybe it was a chance for her to learn about Porcelain, as well. Being born and raised on Gaia by Porcelain who barely remembered anything before their own arrival on Gaia... What an opportunity she had!
And so her focus shifted, only slightly. Certainly, she had questions about this world (most of them worded so confusingly that Jin simply couldn't answer), but those slowly became secondary to her own curiosities. Questions about space pastries became requests to read to Melody, pointing out characters and asking their meanings until she could recognize a few by shape.
She had initially agreed to stay in the Space Danish Silver World so that her children could better grow. But now, Melody decided, she would grow as well.

Melody may find the task of learning about the Silver World somewhat difficult. Though the inhabitants of the Capital will happily tell Melody that this is the Silver World, ruled over by the benevolent Silver Empress, and explain, with more or less clarity, their customs when asked, nobody seems able to explain much about Danishes or jelly.
Regarding the customs, history, and art of this world, though, Jin is a patient and kind teacher, explaining these types of matters in detail. One of the first thing Jin does is buy Melody (and her children) a beautiful, expensive book, illustrated with colorful woodcuts, which appears to be a set of simplified retellings of myths and history -- not quite the children's books Melody might have been expecting, but apparently this is common reading material of Imperial parents to their children.
Sie also borrows a zither and a book of music from a friend, and tries to teach Melody about the scales in use in the Empire and the reading of their musical notation.
Jin seems generally to be much less interested in Gaia and cultural exchange with the people beyond the portal and much more interested in Melody herself and her future children. On a few of their visits to the market, sie often takes her to doctors and fortune tellers, the former of which compliment her on their alertness and the latter of which predict beauty, intelligence, and wealth... all comments a cynical listener might take as meaningless.
But, perhaps unusually, Melody feels quite well and strong during her stay. One might expect to catch a strange disease or at least react badly to the food upon visiting a new place, but Melody feels exceptionally comfortable and energetic, as if there is something healthful in the air. Of course, this doesn't mean that as weeks slip past, the approaching due date doesn't put its strain on her body...

Melody couldn't decide which was more difficult; learning the notation system in the Silver World (At this point, she simply can't continue to call it the Space Danish; "Silver World" has been firmly established in her mind), or training herself to stop strumming the zither as if it were a guitar or attempting to "rock out" on it. One of her first attempts, she recalled vividly, sounded like a hyperactive, tone-deaf hoedown. She still, even now, couldn't believe that Jin didn't ban her from the zither for life.
Not that she REALLY expected hir to, mind you, but when she put it that way, it made for an interesting story! Ah, if only Boyue could have seen that!
--Well, it was better that he didn't, really. Melody was eager to perform this new music for him, but only after lots of practice. It had to be absolutely perfect before she'd let him hear it. And perfect was miles away from where she stood (or rather knelt) today, brow furrowed in concentration as she slowly deciphered the notes and plucked their corresponding strings.
Too slow, too slow. But she made no mistakes as she crawled through the composition at a snail's pace. Her focus was on training herself to memorize the notes and string locations. She would worry about speed (and technique sweatdrop ) later.
Again, from the top. Increase the tempo slightly. ONE-two-three-four-five-s--
A terrible noise erupted from the zither as Melody lurched forward, knees screaming in pain she hadn't even realized had been building. Oh by the GODS it hurt!
"AaaaAAAAAAAH," she complained, rocking backward and landing hard on her backside (causing a second projection of pain. Ow!). That's what she got for kneeling for so long in her state! Did she honestly think a pillow was going to help matters any?
She began to lean forward again to rub her knees, but found her own belly to be in the way. Zither practice momentarily forgotten, she took a moment to contemplate her situation.
--Yes, contemplate. Not to say the childlike Melody-that-was was gone for good, but this time spent in the Sliver World, around Porcelain, learning their history, learning their ways... She couldn't help but feel that maybe, perhaps, she'd grown just a little during her stay here. Did that mean she was ready to be a mother? Did it mean she was ready to be a mother to twins?
She honestly didn't know.
But back to the important matter at hand; her poor knees and her ridiculously large stomach. When she'd first arrived, she looked almost normal. Sure, she was certainly a little large, but she could have been a woman carrying one child ready to be delivered. But not now. Now, she looked as if a stiff breeze could knock her over and cause a small earthquake that would be felt all the way in Gaia.
Speaking of which... It was about time for her to be getting back, wasn't it? How long had it been since she last visited? She'd left for the Silver World early in the morning in May. It had been a month before she felt adjusted enough to feel comfortable venturing home and back without losing her way either way, only to find her husband still asleep in bed with only an hour on Gaia passing.
One month. One hour.
And now, another month later, she'd had time to grow, to adjust to the progression of her pregnancy. But Boyue...
Oh no.
When she came home, she would be-- and he would be--!
When Melody got home, she would have a LOT of explaining to do.
