"I can't watch!" she wailed, turning and hiding her face in Natsuhi's neck, seeing her as a friend already - still, she continued to peek at the fight when she could. "My... my friend is the bleeding one! He's Alucard... Alu. I'm... I'm Khalidia, by the way. Oh Natsu, make them stooop!"

Another bellow escaped when their horns locked, and Silvanus wanted to weep in frustration. Again... again a young buck was going to humiliate him! He might have landed a blow, but Alucard... Alucard still had the uperhand in this fight.
The tip of his horn snapped off and went flying to land amidst the other bracken of the forest. While the other male was in close proximity, he kicked out with one front hoof, aiming for the spot over the other's heart.

Natsuhi was surprised when Khalidia buried her face in her neck, mainly because of the sudden change in attitude towards her. After all, hadn’t the mare been fleeing from her only a minute ago? Still, she nuzzled the female lightly in an attempt to comfort her. “I don’t think interrupting them right now would be the best choice,” she started slowly. “That might just make things worse. In any case, Alucard definitely seems to have the upper hand.” She gave the Khalidia an encouraging smile. “I’m sure your friend will be fine. If things get too bad then I will step in myself to try to stop it.”

Gardenia felt quite lonesome as she weaved in and out among the trees. Hearing the sounds of battle the lone mare stopped with her ears pricked forward. Shaking her head and causing her mane to flutter, she leapt over a stump gracefully and darted forward towards the sounds. Quickly coming upon the scene, the yellow mare noticed two mares watching two stallions fighting. What on earth was going on? It couldn't be a fight for mares could it? Curious Gardenia trotted up to the mares and cleared her throat to gain their attention.

Alucard marvelled at the sheer amount of noise generated by his opponent, letting out a grunt of pain himself as he was kicked in the chest and the air was forced out of his lungs. His neck/belly plates meant the kick was not as painful as it could have been if Silvanus had hit soft flesh, of course, but it still hurt bad, and it would bruise, and he had lost his breath.
He was still hungry... it was so tempting to bury his teeth in the other stallion's neck and take a drink. But no, using fangs wouldn't be fair. Alucard sucked in his next breath with a gasp of pain, planted his front hooves, and whirled to try and kick Silvanus in the flank. If he could push the other stallion away for a moment, he could regain his breath.

Natsuhi turned both at the sounds of the new mare’s approach and her throat clearing. “Good evening,” she greeted with a faint smile. “Did the sounds of the fight draw you here?” The navy female winced as she watched Alucard take a good blow for the chest, but he didn’t look much worse for wear. He still appeared to have quite the lead in the battle.
Actually, taking a closer look at Khalidia’s friend, his appearance was quite frightening. He didn’t glow as she did, but his skin still shone oddly in the little bits of available moonlight. The contrast was quite startling compared to blood red hair. His expression was also extraordinarily fierce, even considering the current battle. It was almost as if he was struggling with himself about something.
She observed all of this silently to herself, interested to find out more about this strange creature when the battle was over. After all, it wasn’t often that she was able to interact with others of her kind.

"It was the battle indeed." The mare responded softly as she watched the two stallions kicking at each other. "What's all the fuss about? Do you know?" Gardenia inquired of Natsuhi as she canted her head to the left to study the scene.

Maybe he was too old for this, Silvanus thought, this time keeping his bellow to himself, now that he'd realized for the first time the growing number of females they had watching them. Ha... it seemed the young buck did have mares, even if he didn't yet realize it. It really was just like the last time...
The kick had forced him to stagger to the side, and for a moment, he stayed there, panting for breath, pretending to be a bit more hurt then the actually was. Then, he once more kicked out with both hind legs, this time aiming for the stallion's flank. Please, Aerithe... let me land one good hit...
"He might be fine, but he doesn't look fine. And what about the other poor stallion?" she hated violence... she didn't even eat the occasional meat or fish like some of their kind. "Hello." she greeted the new mare miserably on her approach, keeping her head close to Natsuhi's neck for comfort.

“Berries?” Natsuhi replied to the new female’s question, her answer coming as more of a question itself. The situation didn’t quite make much sense really. To Khalidia’s question, however, she had no answer. There would certainly be a loser in the end, yes, but how far would the fight go before a victor was proclaimed? Would they fight to the death? The glowing-eyed mare had never seen a stallion battle before, so she wasn’t entirely sure. In the end she chose to remain quiet, silently soothing the distressed mare while continuing to watch the fight.

Pain washed over him again, this time from the side. So, the older male had some fight in him still! This was the hardest Alucard had been hit so far, and the burst of strength behind it took him by surprise. He stumbled on the spot, cursing himself for underestimating his opponent.
Off to the side he could sense an audience gathering; Khalidia really wasn't alone. Who could that be, Alluna, Silarial? He didn't dare turn his head to look; there was no way he would let his guard down again now, and he didn't want to be hit on that same neck wound twice. Gnashing his teeth, Alucard used the pain to fuel his next charge, horn aimed at Silvanus's shoulder.

"Berries?!" Gardenia nearly shouted, the incredulous tone in her voice apparent. She looked at the mare who had greeted so miserably, shook her head, and took a few steps forward so the stallions could hear her. Lifting her head, the normally quiet mare spoke up "You two stallions are so...so....ugh....! You're both acting like colts instead of grown stallions by fighting over a bunch of bushes!" She stamped her right forehoof to emphasize her annoyance at such a trivial thing causing so much misery. Tossing her mane the mare uttered a sentiment that crossed species and language boundaries, "Males! Ugh!" Turning away from the scene, the mare flicked her tail at the pair before cooing soothingly to the distressed mare.

There was a fire in Silvanus' eyes now, however, some renewed vigor that helped him to step to the side in time to nearly miss Alucard's latest strike entirely; a small scratch now marred his hide, but he payed it no mind.
"This time I'll have you! By Aerithe, I will!" he shouted triumphantly. In his minds eye, he didn't see Alu anymore, but rather the male that had taken his herd away; he was fighting the past more than anything. "I'll have my mares back!" Surging forward, he tossed his head, trying to land a larch cut near where he'd injured the other before.
Khalidia pulled back and shook her head at the other two, sighing. "It's... not just berries... how could it be?" she whispered, sounding miserable. She couldn't believe Alu was acting like this... why didn't he just walk away? They could find other berries, other places to eat. Why couldn't he just let it go?

"Your mares?!" Roared Alucard, incensed. Pain shot through his side again, but the stallion ignored it... as long as his bones didn't break, the repeat blows wouldn't matter. First the enemy lay claim over an entire patch of his home forest, and now he thought Khalidia and Silarial were property? How dare he! Irrational in his pain, hunger, and rage, Alucard failed to see that Silvanus was no longer talking about their fight. The vampire Kirin danced, twirled, and made an attempt to sink his teeth into his adversary, any part of him, under the impression that he was fighting not just to allow Khalidia to eat wherever she wished, but also to keep the older male away from her.

“Oh,” Natsuhi said softly, under a similar impression as Alucard of the other stallion’s words. “I see. Khalidia, it’s not just the berries,” she started with a faint smile. "He’s fighting to protect you.” Certainly the older stallion looked a bit rough, if not slightly crazed by this point. But, what had he meant by wanting his mares ‘back’? Did that mean that he had met Khalidia before? Or were there other mares associated with this Alucard fellow that she simply hadn’t met yet? “Khalidia, have you ever seen this stallion before?” she asked curiously, still trying to figure out the full mystery behind this fight. The navy mare somehow had the feeling that there was much more to this fight than what met the eyes.
