Quinn stared at him for a second. Then he burst out laughing. He stepped back against the wall, slumping down to the ground in a hysterical fit of laughter. When he finally calmed down, he wiped the laugh-tears from his eyes and looked up at the angry Fish. "Thanks for that. I needed to be yelled at."
"Wait, are you saying that you have HIV? Because that's what that sounded like." He started to laugh again, but then tears started forming in his eyes. "Oh, god, I haven't slept in like, two days. I've been really really super moody and have been going crazy since about twelve hours ago. You know Vale? Yah. Vale. Stupid Vale. How come he didn't believe me? I didn't mean to hurt him. You don't even know what I'm talking about, do you? I'm sorry to come barging in here, you probably hate me now. I'm sorry." He started crying, and then fell asleep, slumping all the way over.
He really hadn't slept since the Vale incident, and immediately fell into an incredibly deep sleep.

For a moment, Fish just stared, ire rising in his throat. He assessed the situation and came to the conclusion that there really weren't a whole lot he could do, except wake Quinn up and tell him to go sleep somewhere else. He might have taken mercy on him once, but Quinn had been a little kid than. This was just plain inappropriate.
First order of business was to wake Quinn up.
So, Fish dumped a glass of cold water on the sleeping prophet's head.
"Get the ******** out of my apartment!" he declared. "Go home and sleep. Don't do it here."

Quinn's eyes shot open and he gasped. "Water? No--" Small lightning shocks began jumping around his body and the surrounding carpet. "Owowowowow!" He reached in Fish's direction, and a small bolt jumped from his finger to Fish. "Sorry! Owowow!" He ran to the window and leaned out, reaching to grab the metal fire escape, releasing all of the pent up electricity onto the metal.
After a second, he let go, and stared at his hand. It was burnt where it had touched the metal.
I really need to gain more control of this.
Perhaps Fish would be willing to train with you?
"That was probably not a smart idea. Did I start any fires?" He glanced around, but didn't see any. "Good. Well, I'm awake now." He shook his hand, as if it could make the pain go away. "Do you have, like, an ice pack or something?"

Fish blinked a few times and smoothed his hair out. He hadn't expected the kid to be electrified. Luckily, the carpet was thoroughly indestructible after all it had been through.
"You're a ******** live wire," he observed, but he found the boy a plastic grocery bag and dumped a few ice cubes into it despite his obvious displeasure. He tied the open end off and tossed it to Quinn.
"Now will you get out of here?" he asked, thoroughly exasperated.

"No. I won't. So far, you've electrocuted me, yelled at me, cussed at me, and called me a slut. All I've done is eat some food and fall asleep. I even gave you ice cream, so that kind of cancels out the food eating." He winked at Fish. "The way I see it, you kind of owe me." He put the ice pack on his hand, and sighed with relief. "Thanks for the ice pack."
"That started happening a few days ago. I haven't slept since. Every time I get upset or angry or anything it goes off. Mr. Q says it's another power thing, but he doesn't seem to know how to help me control it. Have you ever had any powers like that?" He blinked. "I remember now. That was why I came here in the first place. I need your help. God, I'm so tired."
He looked at Fish pleadingly. "So, can you help me?"

Well, damn. Quinn kind of had him there. Never mind that Quinn had invited himself in, which technically had started this whole thing in the first place. Fish was sort of tempted to actually help the kid.
But then he remembered that yesterday he had practically trained Keeya singlehandedly, and that Quinn was still an annoying douchebag, even if he was tired and injured, and said, "No. Get out."

Quinn got a pained look on his face. "But who else am I supposed to ask? I Don't have anyone else around who can help me. I thought I had made a friend a few days ago, but--" Tears welled up in his face again, his sleep-deprived moodiness striking back. His fingers started sparking again, and he winced.
"You're the best friend I have, now!" He exclaimed, being intentionally melodramatic. "If you hate me too, I'll have no friends at all!" The sparks started getting larger, and making loud snapping noises.
"Ah! Watch out!" He yelped, a split second before a large bolt of electricity shot from the palm of his un-burned hand in a big arc to the toaster across the room. He winced, and hoped it wasn't broken.
"Hey. I knew that one was coming before it--ow. Maybe I should go outside. I don't want to break anything else. Maybe I just don't deserve friends!" He exclaimed, using completely concious melodrama. He attempted to step out of the window, but as soon as he touched the metal of the fire escape, the electricity yelped. He took a deep breath and stepped back in, stopping the sparks for a moment.
"Is there another way out?" He muttered, anticlimactically.

"Through Moony's room," muttered Fish. He approached one of the door radiating off the kitchen and cracked it open. He peered in. He closed it ********," he said.
"She's still in there."
He stared at Quinn.
"The hell am I supposed to do with you now?" he asked.

Quinn thought for a second. "We could...play risk?" He offered. "Or you could help me get this electricity thing under control. That seems like the fastest way to get me out of here, at this point." He looked triumphant, like that had been his goal all along. At this point, he wasn't sure if it was or not.
"Any ideas?" He looked up at Fish hopefully.

Fish thought about it for a second. Seemed to him like Quinn had gotten what he had wanted all along and he had no choice but to comply. Damn it. Catch 22.
After a while of sulking, he asked, "What triggers the whole electric shock thing?"

"It's usually, like, when I get really emotional, or when I touch water. The first time it happened was when--" He cut himself off. "Yah. When I get emotional."
Quinn really didn't want to think about it. It still flashed in his mind every time he thought of Valeriu- the fury in the other boy's eyes when he was holding Quinn by the throat. Quinn's complete helplessness. It scared him, but also made him angry. Angry that he had been so helpless. That the only thing that saved him was an unpredictable instinct. And that instinct had been what got him into trouble in the first place.
It was easier not to think about it.
"The only way I've gotten it to stop is by forcing myself to calm down."

Quinn might have changed the subject, but Fish had caught him starting to go there.
"You did something stupid," he said observationally. "And then you got all freaked out about it, and then you didn't sleep, and then you came here instead of going home like any reasonable person would."
"And now," he continued, leaning against the counter, "I'm stuck babysitting you until I find some way to make you chill out." He exhaled in a huff and turned around to rustle around in the drawers. Maybe there were some sedatives around here somewhere...
The only things that he found that were even remotely promising were a box of teabags and a little plastic baggie of weed. Both of which were totally normal things to find in the kitchen drawers. He put them on the counter and turned around to address Quinn.
"I'm going to give you something to drink and something to smoke and it's going to make you calm the hell down and then you're going to go home and sleep for three days," he said, not at all sarcastic.

Quinn's face turned red. "I didn't--But I--Yes, but--Yah. You're right." He exhaled heavily. He eyed the baggies warily.
Weed-- that was something he understood. He saw it being smoked around The Scene all the time. He hadn't ever tried it himself, but he assumed it was perfectly safe in every way because so many people smoked it. So there couldn't be anything wrong with it. Obviously.
The tea bags are what he was afraid of. He had tried tea before, and it had been disgusting on one occasion and delicious on another. He didn't trust tea-- It never could seem to make up its mind on whether or not it wanted to be nasty. And he worried about what exactly was inside of the baggies, because no one ever told you. At least weed was straightforward.
"Do I have to drink that?"

Fish groaned and gave Quinn a 'yes you have to drink that do I look stupid' look before turning his attention back to the counter. He rallied up a clean mug to brew tea in and found some cigarette paper in a different drawer. He rolled a joint while the tea seeped, lit it, and handed both to Quinn.
"It's chamomile and lavender. It's supposed to be soothing," he shrugged gruffly. "And the pot's a sedative. Kind of."
At this point, he was of the opinion that a stoned Quinn would be totally preferable to a hyperactive one. He offered Quinn an ash tray.
"Just finish them and get out of here," he said.

Quinn sipped at the tea, careful to not spill any of it on his skin, and then set the tea down and took a drag of the drug. He coughed at first, but then took another one, and didn't. He returned to the tea, which he noted with surprise was not disgusting, and then back to the pot. When he had finished with both of them, he looked up at Fish, and yawned really big.
"Yah," He paused, as if he lost his sentence from that point forward, then continued, "I do feel a lot calmer now, I guess. Where did you get this stuff? I want some." He nodded, then slumped backwards, laying on the floor and staring at the cieling. "I was so," He paused again, and furrowed his brow in an attempt to remember what he was going to say, "Stupid. You know? For doing that. The thing. And not sleeping. That was stupid too. But I couldn't not-- not sleep. You know? Like...I tried. And it didn't work. This tea stuff rocks, Fish. Like, I didn't know tea could do this."
He gave a lopsided smile to the older prophet. "Thanks. Maybe you should give some of this to Vale, and he wouldn't want to kill me." Thanks to the pot-induced state, he didn't get immediately upset at the thought of the other boy. "I didn't mean to do that, you know. He shouldn't want to, like, um...kill me. Because I didn't mean to. But he thinks I did. You know? Like, I was just trying to be, uh, friends."
