I admit, the ncestor thing thre me off at first as well..... however now that I re read over everything twice, Kaname makes even 10 more sense to me now, and now he's.... in my opinion the true knight of the story.
Zero's been stealing the glory and the show since the start which is unfair for poor Kaname, as its not his fault Rido disturbed his slumber, woke him up, trapped him in a 7year old's body and then made it impossible for Kaname to die, or take back the throne that was once his.
Kaname has every right to take back the throne, however truth remains, he's over 10,000 years old, and by right should't have claim over the throne anymore, and unfortunately little Kaname, the body he's suck in, was murdered mercilessly.
Honestly ALL the work Kaname's been doing in harboring the night class away from the evil influence of Rido, the board, and their parents, Protecting yuuki, the next TRUE heir to the throne, and then working effortlessly to establish zero strong enough to be yuuki's lover, makes me admire the poor guy even more.

definitely admire him, but the whole thing about marrying his great-great-grand-daughter ( however many greats that would be) is a bit disturbing. I mean i like his character and think he actually does love Yuuki beyond a family love, and he's admirable, but it's just less awkward with Zero right now xp

Actually judging Kaname's actions and what he says, definitely reveals his love for yuuki is not romantic, it is mostly Fatherly.
She is everything to his race right now, and actually if you notice he has been working very hard to set zero up to be with Yuuki all along, however, Zero's immaturity lead Kaname to have to make a decision in the last chapter. Yuuki cannot rule the race alone, especially with all those corrupt adults around her. No!!! she has to have a husband that will protect her, and sadly last chapter, Kaname realized Zero's just too immature to handle such a responsibility.
Zero for the next vampire King??
He's an emotional little turd who refuses to realize what Kaname;s been trying to do since they first met!!!
*sighs*
Anyway I strongly believe Kaname's going to sacrifice himself for Yuuki's security however he needs to be confident that Yuuki can take the throne and stay on there. and Im actually for Aido to be with Yuuki.
as I've been saying for months now Im a strong Aido/ yuuki fan, because Zero's too immature to step up and be what he's supposed to be. Kaname's totally about to die, and Im doomed to execution crying

in wat way did kaname try to set zero up with yuuki? he always looked angry whenever yuuki talked about zero or when he saw her with him. and i don't think that zero would take over "vampire king" since he hates vampires.

He 's upset when yuuki talks about zero because he doesn't think she should be so burdened yet with problems. It hurts him to see her so worried, she is after all only 16 and should not yet have such drama to worry about. However despite his dislike of it, he never once approached me about it, or decided to pull yuuki away any earlier than he has to.
I would show tons of examples that reveal Kaname is setting zero up to be with Yuuki, from his protecting zero from the board to him donating his own blood to Kiryu. He tells Zero its so he can defeat Rido, and yes that's part of it, but he also intended Zero to step up the plate and protect Yuuki as her husband when she inherits the throne.
Granted its doubtfull Zero will ever relent to ruling the vampire race with Yuuki. I think Kaname certainly did hope zero;s hatred would die with time.
as for it being fatherly.... thats just the Vibe I get. He is her great grandfather after all and his eyes reveal a deep concern for her security, emotional and physical health. He behaves as he knows the young Kaname, her brother would, however I dont think he himself has romantical feelings towards her. But again thats just a personal observation.

i really dont see at all how kaname tried to set zero and yuuki up together. it seems like he's hated zero since the beginning. nd weren't kaname and yuuki set to be married when they were children? so y would he try to set yuuki up with some other guy? even if yuuki married someone else, i think kaname would still hold the throne not yuuki.
as for the age thing nd drama, wat about zero?? he's only 17 nd look at how messed up his life is!

No not the case.... Hino's not evil like that, to make a grandfather/ grandaugher relationship?
No KANAME was setting zero up to save the day because A. He cant, and B. yuuki's been sacrificing herself already for zero, and it was time he proved to her and did some work himself. Kaname set him up to not only be with yuuki, but also made sure he became powerfull enough to be successfull hero in her eyes. What he did not expect was zero to still remain hatefull and immature .... My secret hope is that Kaname will rescue me from the hunters and explain my purpose is not over yet, I still need to work on zero for him.
Yagari could Grantley work on him, however he does not have the care for the vampire race that I do.
Kaname's attitude to me at least is that of a man who feels obligated to be here. He was woken from the grave, his peacefull slumber and forced to live in this young future heir's body.
Yuuki is the last hope of his race, and he knows he can't die till he's certain she'll be safe. He doesn't want to have to take the throne again, however its probably why he's always reading because he has 10,000 years worth of history to catch up on, not to mention.... if he ends up having to take the throne and marry yuuki because Zero refuses to accept the fate Cross and Kaname have been working hard to establish for him.... that means he has to be able to rule in modern day society, and therefore needs to have some knowlege on today's political systems.
I dont think Kaname seriously wants to live another 4,000 or so years untill he can die again
