That's an interesting point to make, actually. surprised Because I've seen some of my friends-- if they don't like something then they just erease it. But then again, if you're drawing in pen you wont be able to fix your mistakes when you realize what they are. When you're drawing in pencil, you can't exactly erease all of the graphite. (At least not 100%)

I think that the best way to chart your progress in that kind of sense would be to keep all of your work in a folder. When you need to, go back and review what worked well for you and what didn't. Never throw it away. I have several art notebooks and several pouch-style folders that have been dated. Also always put the date on your drawings. smile

Ha ha yeah do the date thing. I always forget that =_=!

My logic is if you ever want to erase things do it in photoshop or get a light box and redraw. That way the origional through to the final project follows you.

I have had it some many times when a mistake actuall becomes quite origional and i end up moulding my picture to fit that X3

Are light tables expensive?
I've never thought about getting one. In my heart of hearts, I feel like it's cheating. But in reality, you're just getting your hand used to drawing in certain motions. 3nodding That's cool that you do that with your pictures---making them adapt your mistakes. That's what real, true, acclaimed artists do you know. ;o

I made my light box. Just a piece of perspex glued to a wooden frame off of a canvas and then stuck a lightbulb under it. Saying that if you make your own be sure to keep it monitered as the heat output can be troublesome.

But yeah if you want an A3 lightbox they can be annoying expensive. Failing that just use a window XD

I know what you mean by cheating. But in the end what the artist expresses is the final piece. Immean any photo editing software is easily cheating by that point but then you realise its just another form of media and you can tell the difference betwwen a really good photo edited piece and a standard colour in.

Neko Osa
try reading how to draw manga books because there really useful and thats probably ur best bet if u want to draw anime characters, the head is egg shape, body is square, hands are square, shoulders are round, feet are retangular

Personally, I do like those How To Draw Manga books, BUT I HATE the ones that are made by Americans (No offence of those that took offence... sweatdrop )! It... just doesn't look 'right'. I just think (remember, this is my personal opinion) that Japanese manga looks better. So, if I were you, I would try to look for those books that are made by (Profetional) Japanese Manga draweres/Manga artists. Or just look at the Manga's and draw some of the characters that you like. That's how I (try to, at least) learn.

Draw in pen... That might help... I'll try next time!

Oh, and also, random neko kid, you said you draw chibi's right? I was wondering if you can teach me how to draw chibi's... I just... can't really draw them right... I don't know why, but it just never turns out right... crying

sometimes i start with the eyes, sometimes i start with the head. What helped me is sitting down and teaching myself. I'm my worst critic.
