Kia was actually enjoying the little game she was playing. Her running faster was actually fun, for he had to actually push himself a little to keep up with her. It was rather interesting how she could run so well, yet wasn't interested in track. She obviously had training in running.

When she sat down to do her other exercises, Kia just exclaimed to himself, outside of her hearing (for a human), "Well, that was interesting." He would continue to run till her next turn at the track, then he would try to talk to her more. Maybe he could ask her if she might be able to help him with the history homework, as that wasn't a good subject of his. He was better at math and science than history.

He turned another round of the track as he waited for her. he was easily out running the rest of the students, as some of them appeared to be getting winded.

Kia noticed her starting to run from the other side of the track. She really didn't seem to want to be disturbed, but something about her had caught Kia's eye. She was good on the track, possibly as good as he was. He also wanted to ask her a few questions, and not just about History class.

Picking up his pace, he was easily passing the other students. He was a quick runner, with good endurance. It would take a little while, but he should be able to catch up to her before her last lap for this go.

As he neared her, suddenly the walls of the gyms moved. The room grew darker too. Kia recognized the symptoms, but it was too late. Within moments, Kia passed out, his body taking a few more steps before slamming into the hard cement flooring of the gym track. A crack could be heard as his head hit the ground. Then he slid a short distance. With the sound, most of the students stopped running. The ones nearby started to crowd next to Kia's unconscious form. A small amount of blood was on the ground, as Kia's head seemed to have started to bleed.

A shrill whistle could be heard from across the gym, as the teacher blew hard. Then he started to rush towards where Kia laid. Most of the students didn't move out of the way, too engrossed in what was happening around them, too in shock.

Kia started to stir as the teacher got to him. In a dazed state, he wondered why he was on the floor. Last thing he remembered was walking to track. He placed his hands on the ground, trying to push himself up into a sitting position, but his hands slipped on the now wet floor, cracking his head into the floor once more, though softly this time around.

After the failed attempt at getting up, Kia rolled onto his back, and rested on the ground looking up at the bright ceiling. It seemed almost too bright now. He raised his hands to look at why they felt wet, and noticed blood on them.

The teacher walked to his side, and was talking to him, but he couldn't make out what the teacher was saying, at least not the first part. Everything was so sharp to his eyes, yet so blurry.

Kia responded to the girl pressing a towel onto his wound, practically in his face, "I'm alright. See, it is hardly bleeding now." He tried to shrug her off, but didn't have the strength at the moment. He didn't even have the strength to pull away from her as she moved his arms so she could pick him up. "I'll be fine in a few moments." He muttered, then he recognized the girl. "Oh, it's you from history. Where am I?" He had no recollection of the past fifteen minutes, which means last he remembered being was in the hallway on his way to class.

As she pulled him up, he tried to help, but his legs seemed to not want to move for the moment. His hand was still covered in blood, and he was certain that so was his sleeveless gym shirt and shorts. He however was slowly gathering his wits, though he was still weak from his anemic episode. "What happened?" He saw the looks on the students faces. Then he realized where his hand seemed to have rested, but he was too weak from the incident to move it away. Quietly, he whispered to her, "Sorry." If his face wasn't so pale, he would probably have been blushing at the moment.

"That is what I got. A small cut. See? The bleedings already stopped. Had to be a small cut." Kia was confused by her responce. She also seemed to be showing her true strength when the others weren't around. For a girl, she was rather strong.

"I was running laps? I thought I was just walking to my track class? I must have had another anemic episode." Kia placed the pieces together. This wasn't the first time he passed out and couldn't remember anything. Usually he wasn't running though when it happened. "Maybe I shouldn't have missed last week's treatment. Too bad, I was feeling so good then too."

As they walked into the nurses office, she lead him into an empty room. When he was seated in the metal chair, she seemed to start rummaging around for things. "I'll be fine. I just need my treatment is all. Tell the nurse to call the hospital. They will just simply give me another blood transfusion. Nothing unusual." It was a monthly, sometimes weekly, event for Kia. He hated depending upon the blood donations, but he seemed to have a rather rare case of anemia. It should have helped him find his past, but so far it lead him to a bunch of dead ends.

"Well, what else would you call it when some one's body doesn't make enough red blood cells. The doctors did all the tests and.. ow!" Kai started to say something when she started to clean the cut. "A little warning next time, please." He was starting to get some of his energy back after his fall, but he still felt very weak. "Anyway, what was I saying? Yes. The doctors did all the tests and they came up with anemia. My body doesn't make enough blood, so I need blood transfusions every now and again. Not that big a deal." He cringed a little as she was still cleaning his cut.

He sat very still in the chair, so as not to get in the way of her medical skills being put to good use. "Oh, by the way, seen as I have you here, are you any good in history? I was just thinking maybe you could help me. I'm no good at it myself." He shrugged his shoulders as he said that, which moved his head on her.

"Others?" Kia remarked with a questioning raise of an eyebrow. "Suspicious of what?" It was too late, she was already gone by then. Kia looked at his hand, then smirked. "Well, didn't even have to ask for her number."

Just then the nurse pocked her nose into the room. "Shall I call the hospital deer?" She pressed her glasses up her nose as she spoke.

"Please, I had another episode today. Fell down and cut myself a little too while I was at it." Kia laid down on the nearby bed. It wasn't soft, being made of metal with only a small thin pad for comfort, but it held him up till the ambulance could come to pick him up.

"Do you need someone to look at your cuts?" The nurse looked questionly at him.

"No. The girl before already cleaned them up. I'll be fine, just call the hospital." With those words, he fell asleep. The nurse then walked out of the room and called the hospital. Within ten minutes an ambulance was there.


Meanwhile, else where...
Some girls watched from a window as Kia was taken into the ambulance. One stated, "I heard Kia had another episode, this time while running. Heard he got hurt badly."
Another girl responded, "I hope not too badly. He is so cute after all."
The next girl responded to the others, "Oh, but I wish he would just fall into my arms. That would be so dreamy." He gave a sigh with the thought.
"Yeah, you only want him so your popularity could get boosted. Being head cheerleader dating the lead track star."
"You don't understand us at all! It is true love! I'll show you when we are happily married."
"Cut it out you two. Your giving me a headache." The last one said in response to the other two. "I just hope he is in good enough condition to win those awards for the school. Can't have our hidden weapon fall into disarray before the track meet, can we?" With that, she spun away from the other two and walked away.

Hours after going to the hospital, Kia was released. He got his treatment and left. When offered a ride home, he refused, deciding to run instead. He still had that young girl's number on his hand, and was considering giving her a call soon. Heck, he had her number, which most girls would have offered to him in a heart beat, but he didn't have a name to go with the face. This bugged him, as she was new around here and was so willing to give him her number, but not her name.

As he neared an ally, Kia heard a rustle of something. At first, he thought it was just some papers in the wind. Jogging along, Kia didn't give it much thought. Then he noticed something. It was seen almost as much as felt. A shadowy presence was behind him, following him.

Kia looked back, but only saw the street behind him. Here he was, missed out on a day of classes, his stuff at the school, and going crazy thinking someone was following. Well, if anyone was, they would have to out run a track star! Kia picked up his speed, running at a moderate pace for him, but a pressing pace for any normal human.
