Kansai_Gal The Japanese merchandise says "Light" when it's written out in roman letters. 3nodding I'm trying to be good and call him Light... but poor me, I slip so often still... *points at where she keeps fanart and manga crops of DN* I still call him Raito there... but that's mainly 'cause it's easier to skip to R's for Light and then L's for... L.

Inane Whimsies alicelights I hope I don't confuse you futher with this. Personally I like Raito better. I mean in Japan, 'Light' sounds cool because it's foreign. However in English, it just doesn't sound that great because it's a real word here. On the other hand 'Raito' retains the cool/foreign sounding. I think this is the reasoning beheind most of us who stick with 'Raito' over Light. Oh... and also because we're just *used* to 'Raito'. I always used to wonder that Raito's name might have had the meaning of 'Right' as well as 'Light'. That isn't why I use it. I don't give a flip if it sounds foreign or not, since I still know it's the same mearning either way. I tend to go back and forth between them. Just like I do with Nia (Near) and Mero (Mello)... however I never call Remu Rem or Ryuuku Ryuk. Don't know why *shrug* Just the way I do it. I think the phasing I used before was off. I said that in Japan 'Light' sounds cool because it's foreign. I mean, i think that 'light' sounds odd because it is an actual word.

Which is probably why I randomly call him and the others (except for Ryuuku and Rem) by their regular Japanese names and the more American versions too. I wonder if I should make a sticky explaining about the names? Just so it can be clear to anyone who is confused and all.

I don't think it's stupid either, and Raito is just like Light but with an o at the end basically. I actually think it's stupid to call him Raito out loud >.> it just sounds weird to me actually coming out of my mouth. So I only call him Light when actually talking about him and not typing about him.

Now I'm confused. What does 月 mean in japanese? Light or Moon?
@Person on top of me biggrin Since I will now call L 'Eru', I think calling Raito 'Moon' will be a great idea! But it might cause some confusion though.

You make me think of someone I talked to the other day. They kept bitching about Raito being called Light and I eventually half snapped at them and told them if they're making such a big freaking deal out of Light's name, they sure as hell better start calling L Eru too or just shut the ******** up about it.
*cough* Buuut yeah. Hehe.
I call L Eru every now and then.
