Ezeoha shrugged his shoulders effortlessly, contemplating about the many children he had. Yes, some were definitely most suited to venturing out on their own, though he knew some were homebodies, and likely would never leave the lands Ezeoha had been born and raised in. "I'm sure some of them will. I always have one or two from a litter that venture off into the world, for me to never see them again. I think more like staying here, though." His lips creased into a tender frown, because he missed them, he always missed the ones that left and never came back. He had to wonder what had happened to them, if they were really okay, if they had found a new home and were well... He shook his head. "It's a hard thing to think about."

"Hmm... I always thought I'd be seeing more off by now... none of them have left home, but I do miss having them around sometimes." She thought back to not long ago, the hollowness she felt inside sleeping in her parents old den alone with just two cubs at her side. The warmth of her mate, Shin, the rest of their brood... It had been a full and complete family, so much so that when Kani left home to pursue her own life it had left a sort of angry rift with her brother. She couldn't imagine what they must think of her for leaving them and their father. It was true that the idea of letting things become awkward and painful was enough to push her to take action, but for days after as it began to sink in she'd ached for the comforts of family and home, exactly as it was. She just could not muster those feelings she'd once had, couldn't revive them from whatever cold depth they'd slipped off to. Would it be too much to hope for forgiveness? Was forgiveness needed? She may not know for months or years, or she may never know. Mosi wasn't one to question endlessly life's future paths, but this was agonizing at times. "It is a very hard thing to think about..."

There they sat, intwined, coming from opposing situations, opposing paths. He had long since craved a family and a feeling of completion and had only recently begun to find it. She had always longed for freedom from ties and the choice to adventure, yet found family anyway only to give it up again. Now they'd found each other after all that, tight childhood companions, awkward friends, and now wayward lovers. Mosi kept her head under his chin, leaning against him more, staring ahead to the dark sky as a light rain began to fall outside of the cave entrance, speaking with a surprising solemn and yet optimistic tone that normally was no where to be found in conversation with her.

"But then, it would be easy to worry every day of your life away, there's a lot to worry and wonder about and mourn, but there's more to celebrate. You just have to want to see it, look for it. I'm sure that Tai's won't have been your last litter..."

He was a veteran when it came to raising and eventually losing children. From the beginning, he hadn't been involved with Nunda'kilinda's life as much as he had longed to, and his next litter was to make up for it. About half of his children had stayed with him, and the other half had wandered off. Then he had a litter with a wandering lioness, one daughter having stayed with him until she mysteriously disappeared. But... he couldn't stand to think about. Next came the litter with Kohpi, whom he visited regularly, along with Tai's. Soon he would witness more losses... and he was sure he wasn't ready for it. He loved his families.

He turned his head to her in light surprise at her comment. For once he hadn't thought about jumping the gun to start another family and have another litter of cubs. No, all he had been focused on was Mosi and her two juveniles. There was no room in his mind for anything else. But her words sparked thoughts, sparked hope in his heart. It would be so nice to have another family, a family with /Mosi/, the lioness that had been the most untouchable throughout his whole life. Every female he had desired, he'd managed to woo to some degree. With Mosi it seemed like nothing worked, like she was impervious to it all.

"You're right, I won't waste my days feeling down. I've got much more things to enjoy," his gaze flickered then meaningfully down to her, before he made himself look away. "Oh, I don't know. I'll see what the future has in store for me, mayhaps I will be blessed with another litter."

"Well, there's a good policy to have. Take it from someone who can already see the future from time to time, it's much more enjoyable when you take it as it comes."

Knowing what was coming was well and good in some cases, like parenthood, or a good meal, but it could stress one beyond belief in most any other scenario, and though she knew the answer to that particular topic with relative certainty, it too, she felt, was better left as a surprise to be discovered.

"So... maybe you will..."

A soft sound of contentment rumbled deep in his throat, red eyes lidding with pleasure at their simple and shared intimacy. It didn't seem like a moment for words, rather just a moment to enjoy one another's presence, even the sleep sounds of the cubs located towards the back of the den. Glancing over his shoulder, he smiled softly to himself and nuzzled his cheek against the top of her head. "Let's get some rest, the cubs will be up bright and early tomorrow," he murmured as he peeled himself away from her. Instead he went to where the two cubs had fallen asleep, and with a tender smile laid down next to them to enjoy the warmth they could share. With Mosi following right behind the moment was complete, and soon only the sounds of soft breathing and the rain patting the top of the stone dwelling would be heard until morning light.
