Lori nodded mainly because she couldn't think about what else to say, which was a rare occasion with Lori, but she didn't really want to pry, what with them being so nice.

Horatio took the acorns from the other boy with a bit of hesitation. He didn't really want to do this but didn't want to outright say so. He looked at the acorns and than to where the nest was and came up with an idea on how he could do this.

He lobbed one of the acorns in the general direction that Erik had pointed out to him. He didn't aim though, and without it he missed horribly. He tried it once more and once again missed. "I guess I'm bad at throwing," he said.

Lithanus didn't really reply either. He wasn't very good at small talk. Japi was the talkative one, after all.

"Oh." Erik was a little disappointed, but he didn't want to show it. He really needed to work on making friends, after all. Ever since his short meeting with Lucy, he hadn't managed to make friends with anybody else his own age. He tried to think of another approach.

"So what do you wanna play?" he tried to sound as excited as he could, but the nervousness was beginning to build again.

Lori fidgeted a bit now that they weren't talking, she didn't always do the best with silence and she was trying hard to think of something for them to talk about but her brain was being a little slow. She couldn't think of anything.

Horatio too had an interest in making a new friend as well, he also had a grand total of one friend (it happened to be the same Lucy) but he wasn't quite sure how to go about doing it. He started to think a little to hard about the question that was being asked. What if he suggested something that Erik didn't want to play and didn't want to be his friend as a result. So he did what he normally did in situations like this, let the other person decide, it seemed to make Lori happy more often than not.

"I'd play anything really..." he said, a little shyly.

As Lori fidgeted, Lithanus wondered if she was not a lot like his wife. Maybe he should find a topic for them. The weather? No, too lame. The treehouse? No, he didn't like to sound like he was bragging anymore than he might have already.

"Okay," Erik replied with a shrug. Maybe this wasn't going so well after all. He and Daddy never thought about what they'd do after building the structure. They'd been to busy with the project. "We could play fort? Like the treehouse is our base and my daddy and your mommy are the invading army."

Lori not being able to take the silence, was browsing through the random small talk topics that she had stored up in her brain for past use. Weather? No, over done. Name? Nope, they had covered that. Work? Oh that was one. "So... what do you do for a living?" she asked.

Horatio nodded, "That sounds like fun." He would have agreed to it pretty much no matter what but he was genuinely interested in this game. He liked military-esque things and there was something about an invading army...

"I work for the Barton Regulars," Lithanus answered with a swell of pride. He loved his town one of those Regulars that showed it well. "If you've been around you might have seen me, though I'm sure you wouldn't know it." They all wore the full armor when on duty and you could hardly even tell men from women if you weren't paying attention.

Erik nodded and leaned over the railing a little. He was sure to hold onto his mask. "Daddy," he called down, not bothering to wait for a reply. "Come play fort. You're the bad-guys."

Lithanus looked up and laughed at his son, but instead of replying immediately yes, he looked at Lori with a questioning expression, waiting for her approval. She'd have to be in on it too, after all.

"That's pretty awesome," Lori said with a grin. She really meant it too, anything with armor involved was automatically awesome.

Horatio went to the railing too in order to lean over and look at the adults. "Please Lori," Horatio add to the request that the adults.

He didn't really need to as his guardian was all for it."I'm in, I always wanted to be a villian, so lets be bad guys," she said.

Lithanus laughed a hearty laugh. "You'd get along great with my wife. You two seem to have a lot in common." Lithanus waved at the boys. "Alright then, we'll play." He turned to Lori again. "I'm not exactly good at playing the badguy, so why don't I let you lead?"

What an odd thing, for Horatio to call his mother Lori instead of Mommy. Erik didn't quite understand, but he didn't bother questioning either. It looked like the parents were going to play with them. Erik ducked back, just in case, of what, he didn't really know, or care, but it was going to be part of the game, he just knew it.

"Cool," Lori said happily, it was funny in a way, how happy she was to be a bad guy. "Now just need to figure out what exactly to do huh..." she said and got thoughtful for a second. How did one storm a tree house?

Horatio took a step back too, away from the railing. He was thinking something along the same lines as Lori but for different reason. He wanted to know how to prepare for what the parents were going to do.

Lithanus thought about it a moment. He'd never stormed a treehouse before, but he did break up a hostage situation once. He'd had to get inside covertly first. "Maybe I'll sneak around one side while you distract them somehow," he suggested.

Erik peeked over the edge and saw that the parents were still talking. He reached up into the tree again to gather some more acorns for ammo. "Just don't hit people in the face," he said aloud, reciting one of the rules his parents had drilled into him. He figured Horatio probably would already know, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to say so.

"That sounds like a good plan," Lori nodded and started to think of something she might be able to do in order to distract the boys. Her main idea was something along the same lines as what Erik had come up with. Acorns.

Horatio nodded in agreement. He had never really had anyone to play with where Lori would need to establish those kind of rules but that one seem fairly sensible. They might be playing like they were in a war but that didn't mean they wanted to hurt the parents. "So were going to throw these at them?" he asked, just to make sure he had the whole plan.

Lithanus smiled and waited for her to make her move before he made his own. If they saw him going around the back too early, they'd know exactly what was going on. He thought about how good it was that Erik was finally getting to play with somebody other than family. Japi would be glad they'd done this, when he got home and told her all about it.

Erik nodded vigorously. "If they try and come up here," he clarified. "Don't wanna give them too much ammo." He realized that every acorn they threw down, the parents could throw up at them. But were the parents waiting for them to act first? Erik decided they must be and tossed an acorn over the side, directed at his Daddy.

It missed of course, and Lithanus suppressed a chuckle.

Lori had managed to get a couple of her own acorns that she planned to use as her own ammunition. She threw a few up, as best as she could but she had pretty horrendous aim her self, one acorn bounced off a branch of the tree and flew of in a completely different direction and one bounce back a her causing her to yelling a flail as she tried to dodge.

Horatio smiled a little and laughed as Lori yelled. She was a bit of a spazz and it always sort of amused him. It was his turn to toss a few acorns down, with mildly better aim than his guardian he was actually about to hit his target, Lori, though only in the foot. She promptly let out an over exaggerated "ow!"

"Incoming!" Erik shouted through a laugh. He'd heard the army guys say that in a movie. He would have dodged, but it was such a wild shot, he just ended up jumping in place.

Lithanus laughed as he began to move to the side, testing if the boys might notice before actually making his move.
