Taylonn I've heard of it but I've never seen it. It's a bit whimsical, but the soundtrack is wonderful. Worth a watch, but by no means the best French cinema has to offer. France is at it's best when it is uncompromising and brutal, such as in La Haine, Irreversible or Baise-Moi. In fact, Baise-Moi is a must see, because it can challenge your idea of what is acceptable in cinema, and when it crosses into simply being pornography.

Ooh, loved it! I even have a huge poster of it on my wall heart And as for the films I suggested in my first post.. Jade-warrior was really good, I loved it. My biggest problem was that I am so used to reading the translations (subs?) that I had difficulties in watching the film itself. But Sauna... Oh... sweatdrop I did watch it, and it seemed really interesting, but actually I didn't get it. Maybe someone more clever will.

Watched The Science of Sleep last night, definately worth checking out. A little obtuse at points and somewhat directionless feeling, I think it overran its idea, but certainly elements of it were enjoyable.

Sounds like you'd enjoy This Movie is Not Yet Rated they talk about the different rating movies get when there identified as independent films or major studio motion picture films.

I visited my sister in Korea last year and I kept stealing the food menus off her door because of 3-Iron. xp Ultra_jill I've seen run, lola , run and city of lost children and a couple of japanesse films but that's it Run, Lola, Run is a favorite.

I thought the Motorcycle Diaries could have done less with exhalting an murderer. Seriously, it was a beatification, same with that two part film that skipped out the death camps for homosexuals...

If you're old enough, I really suggest some Tokyo Gore Police to put a smile on your face. I thought that the era of screwed-up B-Movies was over, but this film didn't let up on the sheer insanity, the gore or the inappropriate jokes.
On a more serious note, A Snake of June was a beautiful film and further proof that Shinya Tsukamoto is one of the best living directors.

My favorites are the Chinese movie Curse of the Golden Flower (lots of killing and blood in that, though, but the scenery and costumes are beautiful) and the Japanese movies Red Beard and Tokyo Godfathers.
