"Sure." Retorted Alek with a small purring laugh. Lightly punching Ashierra's arm with incredible gentleness for himself, Alek grinned. "Oh really? I'm pretty sure that I can handle myself and the flower...if it'd let me." He added with a chuckle.

Suddenly Alek felt incredibly awfully energetic and he decided it was time for the first small trial on his part. Taking powerful strides the male cattaur was soon flying across the sand in a fast run. "Catch up!" He called to Ashierra not daring to look behind him. 'Never look behind you...always keep your eyes on the goal ahead.' He remembered the older cattaur's voice quite well as he ran on the beach with the warm wind whipping through his coppery orange hair.

Ashierra laughed before cocking an eyebrow at the male. "I don't know about 'handling,' but helping shouldn't be to much of a stress." She smiled as Alek started running, eyes drawn to the muscles rippling in his haunches. So strong.
His call made her smirk as she burst into a run. The sand kicked up in clouds as she sped along the shore, her focus intently on the male before her. 'Catch up. Catch up.' She repeated to herself. She found herself keeping pace with Alek, not gaining much on him once she got to the pace.

Alek laughed as he ran and his smile grew even brighter as he realized that Ashierra had caught up. Breaking past habits, the cattaur dared to sneak a peek over his shoulder at his companion. His breath instantly caught in his throat in surprise at seeing how she looked in the morning sun with the wind whipping her hair back.

To him Ashierra looked like a mysterious illusion of some kind, a rare fire sprite indeed, with her golden eyes blazing against the light and her dark red hair lighting to a deep ruby in the sun. Her fur rippled as well as she ran and Alek found himself watching her running with him for more than just a quick peek. Realizing that he had started staring, Alek pulled his burning gaze away from Ashierra and forced himself to look ahead. "Hurry!" He called out increasing the stride of his run kicking up even more sparkling sand behind him.

Oblivious to Alek's stare, Ashierra kept herself running. She was determined to catch up to the male and not embarass her dignity by being too slow. The crisp air chilled her bare skin as she sped along, but she ignored it. Seeing his stride increase, she narrowed her eyes and ducked her head down. Her long sharp claws dug into the ground for extra traction, clods of dirt being thrown behind her.
The sand Alek was kicking up was like a thick dusty cloud. With the forest blocking one side, she was forced to run in the shallow of the beach. The cold water woke her body and found a reserve that increased her speed. She grinned as she saw she would soon be able to reach him. 'Catch up. Catch up.'

Jumping over some drift wood, Alek still didn't look back at Ashierra. Digging his claws into the warm sand the cattaur suppressed the urge to collapse and roll about lazily in the heat. A startled purr as he laughed softly between breaths, 'Am I really gettin' that bad now?'

He felt Ashierra's presence behind him like a searing flame. That warmth sent shivers along his fur and Alek smirked at the irony of finding another cattaur so similar to him. 'Though...' His smirk melted as he sighed softly and gracefully jumped over another piece of driftwood, allowing a steam to rise from where his back paws barely touched the damp wood, 'I really can't say I know much about her yet.'

Ashierra's sight became tunnel vision. There was no danger at the moment, no threat. She was running, feeling free of inhibitions and allowing herself to focus on the race. But with this relaxation, her focus steadily and smoothly changed from catching up to win to catching up to see. Her paws beat the ground silently as she tried to get a better view of Alek's strong muscles. To see his hair flying haphazardly. To see what his face showed when he ran. Did he run for pleasure? Or the competition?
Smirking, she batted at the tip of his tail, which had just come within reach of her finger tips. "I'll get you yet!" She shouted, having two meanings behind that one sentence.

Surprised at feeling his tail being batted by Ashierra, Alek nearly tripped over his own paws. But he caught himself in time and bounded a couple of more good strides before slowing down to a slow walk. "I don't know about that." He replied looking back at Ashierra with a wide grin, "But for now we'll let our running competition rest."

Alek's eyes narrowed as he gazed around the beach, "We might want to save our energy." He laughed and flicked his tail still amused from the thrill of running and being chased, "It's still morning after all."

Laughing as Alek stumbled, Ashierra ran a short way to the side in case he fell so as not to stumble over him. She gave him a knowing smirk and reached up to ruffle his hair, sparks of flames shimmering along with her hand. "You're just saying that 'cause you know I would."
She looked down the long beach as she caught her breath and nodded. "Who knows how far we'll be going too. At least we have shelter in these trees if we need a rest." She smiled brightly, the thrill of the race (both the concious and unconcious parts) had woken her body and spirit up. But she was also returning back to her more serious self. She needed to when she was around Alek...

Alek gasped, "You really think that I-" Laughing he shook his head and playfully pushed her, not hard though. "Think what you want, Ashy." Teasingly he flicked his tail at her before actually stopping completely to gaze about.

Extracting his claws, Alek dug them in and out of the white steaming sand. "Or you'll have a shelter for yourself, Ashy. Unless you really hoped to share a 'rest' with me." He laughed teasingly before taking in a gulp of fresh sea air. 'Feels nice.' He admitted silently closing his eyes to the light breeze before opening them to look at Ashierra. Alek smirked and nodded as if thinking out loud, "But it'll be a while yet before I'll need any type of rest."

Ashierra shook her head sarcasticly. "Glad I have your approval to think." She muttered, though her voice still hinted playfully. She squashed that quickly enough.
Her eyes widened and her face flushed, hand going to her mouth. "That's not what I meant!" She exclaimed quickly, smacking his arm. "'Rest' with you... Pft! Think I'd be more comfortable with a foxtaur." That was a little harsh, but the idea of 'resting' with him had indeed brought a fuzzy feeling to her chest. How irritating!
"Like you said, it's only morning. Plenty of time before either of us would need a- a break."

Alek let out a roaring purr which blended in with his melodious laughter. And then even after he finally stopped laughing, the cattaur was still quietly shaking with amusement from Ashierra's reaction. Though he did make a pout about her foxtaur comment. "That stings." Alek murmured softly as he gave Ashierra his big hurt look with his sparkling amber eyes.

A soft chuckle though came from him as he pounced back to his light fiery self, "Not that I could see you with any foxtaur." He noted out loud with a small smirk as he playfully taunted her, "I'd feel sorry for that poor fuzzed tail."

Making sure to move out of range, Alek nodded. "Yup, and we still have quite a way to go as well." He purred lightly, "No telling how long til we get to any place."

Ashierra forced herself to face his pout head on. "You'll live. Supposed to be a strong male, remember?" Her jaw dropped though as he bounced right back, placing her fists on her hips and glaring. "And just what is that supposed to mean?!" She demanded, stomping a paw on the ground, fire flaring up a little along her arms.

Laughing again at Ashierra's reaction to his teasing, Alek simply stated, "My point is proven." but then he shook his head and attempted a look of innocence. "Nothing really..."

But his innocence didn't last long before he grinned. Raising his gaze to the fiery cattaur, Alek purred playfully. "It'd be because you're just too hot to handle, Ashy!" He flicked his tail as he meant what he said quite literally...but secretly his words held more than one meaning.

Squinting, Ashierra tried to determine if Alek was yanking her chain or not. And also, trying to not read as far into that statement as her body wanted her to do. She crossed her arms and snorted. "Darn straight. Me with a foxtaur. Ha!" She snorted again as her flames died down and she turned to continue along the beach.
"At this stop and go rate, we won't reach anywhere." She said, glancing back at Alek with a smirk and twitching her tail in a subtle 'come hither' motion. She wanted to get going to... wherever it was they were headed. And get away from the memory of Alek calling her hot.

"Aye Aye, Capt'n Ashy!" Replied Alek with small chuckle as he started to follow her. He was still amused by her responses and was definitely enjoying having a companion to wherever they were headed. He was still trying to really decide on their destination, but for now random traveling was fine by him. It was how he used to live after all, day by day with new things and always seeing new places interested him and some places gave him some good entertainment.

'Too bad she calmed down quick...' Alek thought looking at Ashierra with a small smile, 'I liked the fiery look.' Shaking his head the cattaur took quicker strides until he was walking alongside the female. "Do you travel much?" He finally asked not wanting silence just yet.
