"Ancient Power, Shadow!" Zinnia commanded happily. If the opponent wanted to use stat boosts, so would she!
Shadow Mew used her psychic powers to tear up some more rock chunks. They spun around her body and increased her defense. Now that Howl had been proven useless!

Lisa frowned. This battle looked like it was already over. Still, she ordered another attack. "Bite!"
Midnight rushed at the now rocky Mew and once again bit at it, growling as she attacked [not an attack Growl, mind you].

"Drain Punch!" Zinnia commanded. That last hit looked like it had hurt!
Shadow Mew took advantage of the fact that Midnight had to get close in order to bite and swung her paw down hard. She hoped to make contact and suck back some energy for herself.

What a hit! Lisa smiled with a bit of excitement as Midnight found the one kink in the mew's rock armor and scored a critical hit. Her mood improved even more when the mew's attack missed. Maybe they still had a chance! "Come on, Midnight! Next verse, same as the first! Bite again!"
Midnight felt the paw just miss her. But it missed, and that's what mattered. She ricocheted off the canyon wall again and launched another bite at the Mew.

"Drain Punch, come on!" Zinnia said. They were close. They had to win! "Show that puppy that you're no cat to be messed with!"
Shadow Mew calmly executed the attack once more. She did not want to show the Houndoom anything in particular. She just did as she was told... She didn't have to make a big deal out of it.

Midnight growled as the attack hit again. She was wobbly, but she still had a fighting spirit left in her.
"Midnight! Use Bite again! Don't let that Rocket's Pokemon get you down!" Lisa shouted, adding an acidic tone to the word "Rocket."
Midnight only paid attention to the command part. She lept up once again and bit at the Black Mew.

Midnight winced at the punch, then growled as she tried to bite the Mew again.

Midnight shuddered as the punch hit her, then fell to the ground, defeated.
Lisa frowned. "Midnight! Return!" She called back her Houndoom into her Pokeball. "Poor Midnight," she muttered as she walked out of the Arena.
Sitting up on the bleachers, a middle aged man sighed. "Needs work," he said, adjusting his white coat with a little red "R" pin resting on his lapel. "Still," he grinned in a most sinister manner, "I think she will yield most excellent results..."
The man got up and walked out. "Yes... soon we shall meet again... my little Lisa Mason, my daughter..."
