I thought Rex's outfit was worse than Vaan's! He's wearing a skirt. Vaan may have harem pants, but at least they're pants.

Nooooo, I think they're hot pants. Look carefully here. That's possibly even worse than a skirt. Plus, his "shirt" sort of looks like a bra. sweatdrop At least the metal parts are cool.

So he's got thigh-high boots, a crazy hot-pant/skirt combo, and a bra top. Vaan's got harem pants, and a vest.
Acutally, Vaan's dressed like Aladdin...

Just because it used to be like that, doesn't mean it's okay now (execpt for the jewlery part. I love jewlery on guys). xD
Part of the problem is his outfit looks like it was made for a chick, and he's not very manly looking himself.

Ravenwolf Schutzhund History-nerd-attack! Men have worn skirts longer than pants. And used more jewelry than women. biggrin ...I thought that was just because cavemen weren't smart enough to make pants... sweatdrop Pants are very strong on western culture. I think cavemen and -women didn't bother themselves with matters like skirts and pants. biggrin My argument wasn't about Reks 'skirt' but just a indirect horray for kilts. biggrin Reks costume is... too feminine. Things can be done well or not so well... But we know Japanese, there is nothing weird that they dress anime/game male character like that.

Haha, very true. It's still awfully fun to make fun of, though. I actually think Reks looks fine at a glance, it's when I actually stop to look at it that it looks girly.
Maybe that's really why they killed him off, so you wouldn't have time to notice?

Maybe. But wouldn't it have been cooler if armored items could affect how the character looked. Like if you put a helmet on a helmet shows up when you are playing and so on and so forth.

Legend of Legaia is the only game I know that does that, but it does end up looking pretty awesome. Bu~ut, with the upped graphics it would be really tough. Plus, in Legaia it only looked different in battle. If they did it in XII, they'd have to wear it all the time 'cause battles are seamless, so we'd get an even worse feel for characters individually 'cause they could all look similar wearing the same equipment.

Unless you put different equipment on each one. and I know from other games that i've played from Square enix that pulls it of quited nicely. Another good example is Lord of the rings: The third age. What they did was have different kinds of armor for each charachter.

Yep, that would work, but then they'd have had to redo not only all the armor, but the entire License Board... I think it would be better implemented in another game.

point taken, but still it would have made the game a bit cooler if you could do that.

I think Vaan isn't the one to be a Final fantasy main chracter. he's more suited to be an ally or something, but yeah, he does sorta ruin things for the FF generation of main chracters. I dunno what they thought when they made him, but someone more manly (for example Squall (FFVIII) or Cloud (VII)) would suit the position...
