Rivener chuckled low in the back of his throat, thrilled with the compliment. This was by FAR the best, most flattering, completely ADEQUATE compliment Rivener had ever gotten. Dangerous but attractive. Mnh, this Zul was definitely a keeper, one Riv would have to be sure to get his stingers into. He wanted to infuse himself into Zul's every thought. But maybe that was just the poison leftovers acting on him from the stingers...
Still, Riv allowed himself to enjoy the feeling of the other Frei's hands on his own, encouraging the exploration of the black, bone-studded collar. "Why thank you, Zuuul," Riv drew out the name in a long, sultry whisper. "I hope I'm not too scary, being so dangerous?" The Scorpion smirked flirtingly, moving his fingers from the choker to the bony wings and the rings that had jingled lightly there. "You did a VERY good job bringing Alex here, and she looks nice in that dress... Almost as nice as YOU in slightly less clothing." Red eyes were darting glanced down at the bared torso, shamelessly drinking in the sight.
Aphismet couldn't have told Alex why he was standing there with flowers, and it didn't even occur to him that she might ask. He simply stood there delighting in the maidenly blush as the usually-cheerful Italian took the offered bouquet. It was so un-Alex like, but so alluring! And that dress, good heavens! "...I'm afraid they're not pretty enough to match with you right now, Alex. Honestly, you look amazing. You sh-should wear dresses more often, uh..."
Aphismet's words tapered softly to a silent gulp as the woman bridged the space between them further, lifting a hand to the white hair and announcing that she liked it. Aphi laughed rather dumbly, blushing at the compliment and lifting his own hand to run through it. "Ah, yeah, uh... Ask me about it some other time. It's not really... a good story for right now. B-but I'm really happy you like it! Uhm, h-how about we go for a little walk?"
Rivener was completely forgotten as Aphi offered Alex his arm, turning towards the boardwalk with every intention to take a stroll with this charming date.

Such touching was unfamiliar to him, but not unwelcome. "Scary? No," his eyes rested at half-mast, the delicious tone of voice used to speak his name rather agreeable to his ears. "Challenging." Zul tried to recall the other words he'd picked up in his brief time, utilizing his vocabulary that seemed to be extending everyday, even for his lack of speaking frequently. "Assertive." The hand that was touching Rivener's own slid over to the older Raevan's neck, lightly curling around the gemmed throat piece before lowering to brush against the bound lock over the other's shoulder. "Unique. Dangerous, but I am not scared of something so attractive."
His smile grew, giving himself a proverbial pat on the back for managing to speak so well. Often, the young Frei would make a mistake or a blunder, but it was forgiven because he was a 'new-born,' even if he was three and a half months now. For some reason, he did not want to show his lack of age in front of Rivener, an instinct of survival, as it were. Zul drew his fingers over the bare arm of the scorpion Frei, a bemused smile taking the place of his playful grin. "Less is more. But this? This is nice." Fingerless gloved digits tapped against the open throat of Rivener's own 'outfit'; it still covered more than it should, but Zul was willing to compromise on some things.
"Ah." It was her unintelligent response to his praise, tilting her head to the side as another surge of blushing lit her cheeks, green eyes bright. She nodded at his words, her smile softening her angular features considerably, "I wont ask. I'll just say you look really dashing, Aphismet." The Italian's face brightened without the aid of a blush at the offer to walk, bestowing the chef with her megawatt smile and a delighted nod. "I'd love to! It's been so long since I last saw you and we got to chat."
Alex slid her arm around her date's, comfortable at his side and giving him another smile to prove it. The woman would never admit that she had forgotten her charge, only that she simply was distracted and thus leaving her capable Raevan to his own devices. Perhaps not the wisest decision, but she felt pleasantly warm and comfortable with Aphismet, so very pleased to have run into her friend for such a delightful use of time.
Cradling the roses against her opposite arm, her bright gaze swept over the view of the sea before returning to the young man whose arm she held, something like a moth to a flame. "How's work?" she asked softly, wanting to make conversation, if not only for the sake of a reason to admire how much he'd changed since last they met - and yet, how much had stayed the same. "And Isi? I miss you guys."

Rivener liked that Zul didn't move away from the invasive presence in his personal space. Hell, the pale-haired Raevan even encouraged it, moving a hand to Riv's own throat, passing fingers over the long, dark hair over Riv's shoulder, caressing Riv's arm and touching his bared collarbone. Smirking slyly, Rivener lifted both his arms and really draped himself over the other Frei now, clawed fingers reaching up to run through the short hair, tracing the strange, half-glowing horns atop Zul's head.
"I'm glad you like it. I'd take it off for you if I could... You are very handsome, Zul. I think we fit well together, hm?" The Scorpion couldn't care less that other passersby were staring at them with slack-jawed amazement. Two legless, floating torsos of such beauty lacing around each other, heheheh. Rivener enjoyed the attention very much.
"Say, Zuuuul... Have you ever kissed anyone before?" Riv leaned in close to the earring-clad ear, whispering in a honeyed voice.
Aphi felt rather proud to be escorting such a stunning date. Hell, he could see others peeking over, admiring the woman! Who knew Alex could be so pretty?! The chef knew he should be either watching where he was going or staring out at the sea but he couldn't quite get his eyes to leave Alex's face for too long. As a result he more than once almost walked them right off the boardwalk, bumping up against the rail as they slowly made their way out to deeper waters, where a handful of benches awaited. That's where Aphi was leading them, albeit slowly and awkwardly.
"Work is good, very good. I'm a sous-chef now, and I really enjoy it. Perhaps I should have you over sometime soon and cook you a nice meal, hm? And ah, Isi's fine too. He's started a small business, did you know? And he's going to be helping out at the lab too. He's not yet thinking about attending University or anything, he seems rather against that idea, but he's been blooming in other areas anyway. His business is "garden revival" or something like that, which means people pay him to have Eiry eat the death off their plants... Such a clever idea. He's a smart kid!"
While Aphi always loved talking about Isi, he felt it was somehow... not romantic enough for this occasion, so he dropped the topic for now. "How about you? What have you been up to? Whatever it is, it must be agreeing with you: you are so stunning and full of life, and you look very happy indeed."
Ah, that's it, Aphi was trapped. He couldn't look away from the shining emeralds framed in those dark bangs. "Unph!" he grunted as he walked smack into a trashcan, nearly bending over it and hurrying to straighten, clearing his throat and trying to play it off like nothing happened. "H-how about we just... m-move a bit to this side," he mumbled, guiding Chrys back towards the center of the boardwalk, blushing lightly with embarrassment.

The demonic Frei was guilty of having no conception of personal space to begin with; that another was less bound by the invisible bubble of socially accepted politeness was something of a thrill to him. While he had described the scorpion Raevan as 'dangerous,' that word never applied to the situation, something of a vague concept yet in the young one's mind.
And did those fingersinhishairfeelgood! Crystalline eyes lidded heavily before closing, a pleased sound in his throat. Oh he liked that very much; Rivener was fast becoming a being he'd consider on par with himself, a level of which all standards should be set. Zul cracked open his eyes, a sliver of brightest blue visable as the other spoke to him, arms looping beneath the elder Raevan's own to trace of his back by his wing. Such a curious, fascinating being! "You feel nice," he replied in a slightly huskier voice, skin warming favorably. He could very easily get used to this!
The ear in question twitched at the whispered breath against it, rings tinkling as he turned his head enough that his slitted gaze could rest upon the other's face. It was perhaps in his favor that the young Raevan had very little conception of what such close interactions could lead to, having only a notion of intimacy and what each little motion could mean; his lack of experience in such fields made him smile, a small and inviting thing of intruige. "No, not kissed any," he affirmed in that same low voice. It didn't occur to him exactly why Rivener would be asking him such a seemingly random question.
Alex herself would have to admit that she cleaned up nicely, as long as she didn't wear things that revealed her scars or leaner body parts. Her fingers drew small circles absently over the arm holding hers, listening to him speak almost as much as she was gazing at him. Almost.
"Sous-chef!" she repeated with pleased surprise, expression brightening. "You'd cook for me? I'd love to!" It seemed Aphismet was doing wonderfully, feeling suddenly greatly relieved. She'd been so worried since the Halloween at his mansion, but it seemed things were working out beautifully for him. Lips parted to respond further, instead emitting a muted squeak of surprise as her 'date' ran into the trash can, eyes large. Rather than laugh it off as she usually would have, she tightened their looped arms and purred a light, "Are you okay?" before letting it go. Pesky trash cans! Who put those things there anyway?!
With a glance fit to turn the thing into ash, she resumed tracing small nothings on his arm, adjusting the roses comfortably against her elbow. "Ah, yes, I remember Isi doing something with gardening. He's such a brilliant young man, I'm really fond of him. And the Lab!" Green eyes sought out Aphismet's dark ones, excited, "I work there for Kyou part time too, so maybe I'll get to see him more often! And you, if you're picking him up."
The last part dwindled off shyly, fingers coming to a still to rest on the coat jacket. "You're so sweet, Aphismet. I'm doing really well. A lot has happened since we last got to chat, but I seem to have forgotten most of it now that we're together again." Alex smiled to herself, a little embarrassed, lifting her head to shift some of her hair out of her face. She felt much better now, warmer, and didn't feel it necessary to hide. It was Aphismet, after all, and he'd been nothing but charming in all their history together. There was no reason she couldn't enjoy the fortunate meeting!

Rivener grinned like a Cheshire Cat when Zul told him he felt nice, in a voice that was anything but innocent-sounding. Mnh, Riv was pretty sure Zul was a very FUN Raevan. One Rivener would want to see many, many, many times. The reply to the kiss question only made that grin wider.
Running fingers through the short hair again, Rivener all but purred, humming low and rumbling in the back of his throat with contentment, with approval. "Really? Well then, let me teach you." With half-lidded ruby eyes glittering with amusement and sultry intention, Riv leaned closer still and pressed his lips to Zul's. "Mmmmmmh," the Scorpion sounded out through his throat as he kissed, apparently very pleased. It only lasted a few seconds, Rivener pulling away to crack his eyes open to small crescents, smiling seductively up at the demon-frei. "That was a kiss. What do you think?"
Rivener reminded himself not to get offended if Zul didn't like it: he was a newborn after all, and would probably be quite honest about his impression. Not everyone liked to kiss, after all. But mmh, Riv hoped Zul DID.
Aphismet was blushing slightly ever since he'd ran into the trash can. He was quite aware that usually Alex would have laughed lightly and poked fun, but this time she didn't. She was acting... differently for him. Just for him? Was she feeling differently for him, too, then? That thought kept popping through his mind, keeping that constant shade of pink on his cheeks.
"Ah, y-yes, the lab... I'll probably see you a lot, then. Most of the time Isi takes the bus because his hours don't coincide with mine, but when I'm on my off days I sometimes go, erm... Get him. So we could... m-meet..." Alex's admission that she'd forgotten almost everything else now that her attention was fully focused on Aphi was making the chef stammer and blush like he hadn't done in nearly two years. The white-haired man laughed stupidly. "I c-can't really think straight now that you're here, either. W-w-weird, hunh? Uhm... Uh... Ah, the sun is going to set! D-did you want to s-sit on a bench and watch?"
The pair had made it to the end of the boardwalk without any more trashcan-related mishaps, and Aphismet led his beautiful date to one of the pretty turquoise-painted benches, dusting it with a hand before motioning for Alex to sit. His way of "pulling her chair for her", most likely. The man smiled shyly as he sat next to her.
"S-so, erm... A-are you, ah, s-seeing anyone? Apart for g-gwees and your... Z-Zul, was it?" Strangely, even mentioning the raevans wasn't enough to raise up that little red flag of Where ARE they right now anyway?

The first thing that struck Zul was a singular, surprising thought: taste. He could smell the scorpion Frei, something dark and musky, and when Rivener pulled back, his tongue chased out to inspect the pressure that was no longer there; on the heels of that was the sensation of actual tasting for the first time, what he could only describe as reminding him of the night when it was heavy with the promise of rain, like the halo around the moon. It was sweet and delicious.
"Sweet," he repeated his thoughts in a curious but delighted tone of voice, giving Rivener a wide grin. Why hadn't anyone done that before? Did it mean something? He'd have to ask his woman later, as right then, he was fine with learning from his elder. His lips still felt a little tingly, a strange and new sensation that wasn't entirely unwelcome. Much like his lack of concept of personal space, he had no trouble accepting the brief intimacy, eyes lightly lidded in pleasure. "Good. Very good. Like that very much, Rivener."
The woman listened with a pleasant smile for Aphismet, finding the stuttering...familiar, comfortable somehow. She hadn't really had the opportunity to talk with him in the past year or so, but she felt warmly for the man she'd inadvertantly run into two years previous. "That'd be great," she admitted with a slightly averted glance. She couldn't keep her bright greens lowered for too long, drawn back to Aphismet's eyes like some bizarre gravitational pull. She didn't mind in the least. "It'd be nice to see you more often.
Oh, yes! That'd be--" romantic "--s-superb." It was her turn to color above the roses, giving him a shy but grateful 'thank you' for his consideration of the dusty bench before taking a seat. Her legs rested slightly to the side, gown covering what it was intended to, continuing to hold the flowers like some last bastion of confidence.
If she thought she was blushing before, she was quite wrong, her face suddenly feeling like it was trying to rival the flowers she was holding onto so delicately. "S-seeing someone?" she gave a short bit of embarrassed laughter. "Oh, no, no no no. You know how I am Aphismet, I scare people." Alex was certain the blush just took a new shade of red. "I'm not very people-savvy, you...you know. It's, um, just me and the kids--Gwees. And Zul. Brother is visiting but that's it." A pause. "How about you?"
If any flags raised about Zul, it was only that he had to have had some type of hand in what was transpiring, and that she just might have to scream or thank him later.

Rivener chuckled low in the back of his throat, a sultry sound as he tilted his head and stared into Zul's eyes. Ah yes, Zul was VERY fun. He'd liked that kiss, had he? Mnh. This pleased Rivener greatly. "Now don't go doing that to everyone," he advised softly, lifting a finger to run along the other's lips for a moment, smirking. "That's only for people who REALLY like each other. And I really really like you, Zul."
Rivener had hardly ever met anyone this... this interesting, he supposed would be the proper term. Or perhaps attractive. It was like some magnetic pull Riv couldn't yank himself away from, he WANTED to be close to this Raevan. He'd have to compare Zul to Roux later when he could think properly...
Aphismet chuckled at Alex's energetic denial of seeing anyone. But to call herself "scary"? She'd never scared Aphi! The cook took a seat on the bench next to his date, inching a little closer almost without realizing it. "Erm, I never thought you were s-scary. And you're plenty people-savvy, everyone likes you."
He ran a hand at the back of his neck when the returned the question. Of course she would ask if he was seeing someone. He blushed, looking mildly upset. "Ah, uhm... W-well, you see, I, uh... I was going with Chloe. R-Roux's guardian. But we broke up not long ago, because we hardly ever saw each other... Actually, maybe this whole thing right now is Riv's way of trying to get me to get over her? He kinda dragged me here without my consent, I had no idea... B-but I'm glad he did! You're very good company, and it is fun to s- RIVENER!"
Either the drugs were wearing off, or talking of all that had reminded Aphismet of his charge enough that the dark eyes sought the Frei out, finding him at the end of the boardwalk where he'd left him, draped across the other Raevan. It was like Roux's first visit all over again!
"Oh god, he's doing something unspeakable to your Raevan!" Aphi shot to his feet, torn. He was reluctant to leave this wonderfully romantic moment, but-... Argh!

Eyes sparkled like faceted aquamarine beneath those heavy lids, smiling against the fingers on his lips. No one had ever been so touchy, so forward, and it was refreshing in a new and completely free manner. "I wont," he replied in a light purr, trying to float even closer. Yes, Zul rather liked the attention, the positive reaction and all the new, fascinating things he was learning.
"I like you too, Rivener." The wide, pleased smile returned, a touch more personal than before. "Dangerous. But sweet and heady, like the night. I like you very much." He of that fulfilling, crisp taste of a night storm on the horizon, a dark and lingering flavor that Zul rather enjoyed. Bone wings spread again, lower this time, slightly curling around the other. This Raevan was neither one full of fire nor ice, but something else completely. Something new. Something he wanted.
Alex was comforted by Aphismet's sweet words and presence, almost leaning towards him as he inched towards her. And...Chloe?! Ah, but that explained why she hadn't seen her in so long! She wanted to hug him for his revelation, because that's what friends did; the only thing that stopped her was the sudden shout of the scorpion Frei's name, making her blink in wide-eyed surprise at the chef and turn her head to follow his gaze. Lips parted in surprise, and she would have been slack-jawed had she not been so mindful for Aphismet.
She also got to her feet, suddenly grateful she was wearing sandals and not heels, holding the flowers against her chest and reaching out to take Aphismet's hand with her free hand. In her right mind, she may have been more surprised but shrugged it off as a hug - Zul was hers, after all, and she herself was a loving creature. As it were, she felt caught up in Aphismet's own emotions, feeding off of them, turning and quickly moving towards the entangled Raevans.
"Zul?" she cried out as they approached them, surprise on her features. "What are you doing?" There was nothing reproachful or angry about the situation, just a quiet type of wonder. She'd only seen him so 'possessive' with LuLu, and to see him twined with the engimatic Rivener...other than being quite an eyeful, it was odd!
"I like Rivener," he informed his woman as she approached them, looking over her flushed features and wide brilliant eyes with amusement. She was kind of pretty, when she looked like a female. "Is nice." Zul never released nor let up on his 'embrace' of the other, looking between the two humans with lidded eyes, the cat with his cream. He wasn't doing anything wrong, so there was no reason to be ashamed or upset, right? Right.

Aphismet let out a small startled sound as he was suddenly grabbed and tugged forward. Ahhh, damn, now Alex would be angry! Muttering to himself about how he couldn't leave Rivener alone for TWO minutes, the chef followed all the way back to the edge of the boardwalk. He was rather angry by the time he got there, too; his date was cut short because of the Scorpion! A date the Scorpion himself had set up in the first place! Dark eyes burned with disapproval and frustration and annoyance as the pair of humans approached.
Rivener's smirk turned into a very pleased grin as Zul floated closer, even lifting his wings to encircle Riv, holding onto him. Mmmmmmhhh, yeeessss, very good, very nice! The dark Frei chuckled again in the back of his throat, lacing both arms around Zul tightly and shamelessly hugging himself to the nearly-bare Raevan, tucking his head under the other's while being mindful of his horns. Mnh, warm and cold at the same time, and felt like... like a battery, maybe? No. Like two magnets with similar ends facing each other, creating this strong, incredibly attractive tension. Felt like power. Power that Rivener could bend around his little finger, maybe. Not that he'd want to, but just the concept that he could was terribly enticing.
"Riveneerrrr," Aphismet ground out angrily as the humans neared, ignoring how Alex was simply asking what Zul was up to.
Rivener only snickered and cuddled closer to Zul's neck, arching all of himself against the other's half-body. "Mmmmmm," he moaned sultrily at the feeling, looking rather smug.
"Rivener! Stop that now, he's a NEWBORN. What the hell are you teaching him?" Frowning, Aphi moved to reach for his Scorpion but stopped half-way, recalling what happened when he tried that with Roux. He'd been slapped. Hn, Aphismet didn't want THAT happening again, so he just glared balefully. "Let. Go."
"Not yet, Aphi, go enjoy your date."
"RIVENER."
The red-eyed Raevan sighed, annoyed. "Fine, fine. Sorry, Zuuuuuul." Leaning up, Riv pressed his lips to Zul's cheek, a more chaste kiss since now there were guardians watching. "Come visit me quick, okay?" he whispered at the demon-frei's ear before he pushed himself away, smiling his best honey-coated sultry smile.
Aphismet huffed, turning to Alex with a contrite expression. "I'm really sorry about all this. I swear, this Raevan... Anyway, I hope he didn't do anything too inappropriate. And, erm, I'm also sorry our date was so short. You really do look very nice, and I am very glad to have seen you... M-maybe we could see each other again sometime!" Aphismet blushed darkly. He'd meant they'd see each other if Aphi picked up Isikoro, but as soon as the words had left his mouth he realized it also sounded like he was a-asking her out again!

Zul relaxed beneath the other Raevan's embrace, chuckling deeply at Rivener's answer to his male. The way he spoke to this Aphismet was most curious, not a way he'd thought to speak to his woman before, nor a way he thought she'd tolerate. His fingers trailed absently along the back of the exposed shoulder, blue eyes turning towards Aphismet silently. The scorpion's hair felt pleasant against his cheek, but it felt a little...odd, to have the elder in such a position. He didn't yet know vulnerability, but he was feeling it, a mild discomfort that he wouldn't allow to ruin the moment.
"Alix?" he asked his Guardian softly. He didn't want to let go. He wanted the two-leggers to go off and do whatever it was they were doing and be left with the dark, enticing Rivener. Unwilling hands slowly withdrew from Rivener as the other pulled away, skin warming considerably in the Frei's absence, wings spreading sharp and with discontent before folding against his back. To say he was disgruntled was an understatement.
The displeasure was clear to her, and she sighed softly at it. He was a newborn, he didn't fully grasp what Rivener was doing, but truthfully, neither did she. Alex thought it mostly harmless - not much could be done when there wasn't much to get in trouble with - but it made her acutely aware of the young man with her, giving the red and black Raevan a bemused smile before looking to Aphismet. Not even the prospect of troublesome charges had cleared the pleasant fog in her mind.
When the chef voiced their encounter as a date, she couldn't help but blush a little again, nodding her agreement. It was a shame it had ended, but it was true that all good things had to come to a close at some point. "Thank you, Aphismet," she replied with a gentle smile, "it was...a really great day. I hadn't dreamed I'd enjoy myself today, but you proved me pleasantly wrong. Thank you."
The last words earned a slight nod from her and another delicate smile; she assumed he meant for the dinner they'd spoken of previously. She certainly looked forward to having someone else cook for her, even if the idea made her hands itch with the desire to help. Alex leaned forward and kissed Aphismet sweetly on his cheek, a friendly gesture of gratitude. "Take care of yourself, and lets not let a few more years pass before we catch up, hnm?"
The decision to part was met with a decided lack of approval, lips only slightly losing the bright smile; he wouldn't dare let it go now, not in the face of Rivener. He'd hold it until they made it back to her brother's car, and perhaps express it to her in a manner that she'd understand she displeased him greatly. Zul turned the watts back into his expression as his eyes slid to Rivener, putting a hand over his chest and giving a slight bow to the elder Frei. "I want to." His words left no room for compromise. He would see Rivener again.
The demonic Frei then turned to Aphismet, regarding him with eyes that were slightly less warm with enjoyment and more cool and detached, considering. After a moment, he extended a gloved hand, another smile curving his lips; this time, however, it was almost knowing, as if something were shared between them. "Nice to meet you, Aphismet." A pause, before he repeated his woman's words with a meaning that likely transcended what they meant at face value, "Thank you."
He would not begrudge the man for taking what he was so enticed by - he'd met Rivener, found something beautiful and dark, and it would not be lost. He had to be grateful to this Guardian for that, and for the ability to put that silly look on his woman's face. Yes, he'd have much to speak with her about, these two strange and fascinating males...

Aphismet was stunned by the kiss on his cheek, raising a hand to touch that area a moment after Alex's lips had left it. He smiled somewhat and looked rather silly himself, chuckling. He hadn't been kissed, even on the cheek, in months... And for it to have come from someone NEW was... Aphismet felt fuzzy and strange, and he cleared his throat to try and settle his fluttering stomach.
Rivener was floating near Aphi, consciously choosing to lift himself just a breadth taller than his guardian. He made sure to seem imposing and impressive when Zul looked at him again, like Rivener was some Emperor worthy of that bow Zul offered. The Scorpion's lips turned into a slightly smug, very pleased smile and he nodded his head as though accepting Zul's words with all the weight and importance of an oath. "I'll be waiting."
Aphismet blinked as Alex's Raevan offered his hand to shake. The chef took it, smiling back in mild confusion as that statement of "thank you" was uttered, apparently laden with some kind of meaning he was still too fuzzy-headed to understand. "Nice to meet you too, uh, Zul."
The foursome split then, Aphi and Riv heading in one direction while Zul and Alex headed in the other. Dark eyes flicked over at the Scorpion frei. "I think we have to have a talk, you and I."
Rivener sighed.
