She giggled and clapped, then pushed the train along the ground, going "Chuggachuggachugga CHUU CHUU!" as she went.
Mortar smiled slightly, glad she had forgotten about the pink dress that her father had wanted to get her. He didn't know what fashion was for dwarfs, but he was pretty sure a dress wasn't part of it. At least, not according to the dwarfs, it wasn't.

This was nice, Rook though, this dwarf girl who's name he still didn't know seemed genuinely nice if really interested in trains, she was also a lot easier to amuse and make happy than his sisters who were nice but complex to deal with.
Enjoying the chance to just be carefree for a bit the boy walked over to the basket of toys and rummaged around in it until he held a small purple car in a three fingered hand. Sitting again next to the girl Rook began to drive the car in simple ever widening figure eights.

She stopped, looking at the car he was driving curiously. She had seen those outside, but nothing little like the one he was playing with. Without a thought she toddled over to him, reaching for the car to look at it. She dropped her train along the way. "Want, pease!" she said, trying to take it from him.

Rook looked thoughtful for a moment before handing the little purple vehicle over. He had been enjoying himself but the girl had asked nicely and it wasn't as if there weren't more toys to choose from." Cars use roads" Rook supplied helpfully " Did you know trains use special roads called tracks." Why they didn't just make them to run on the roads like normal vehicles the boy didn't know.

"Uh huh, is ALLLL over airship," she told him, as if that was supposed to make sense. She dropped down on her bottom (she hadn't quite gotten used to potty training, so her diaper was still there for padding) and turned the car over to look at the wheels.
A look of intense concentration appeared on her face as she started turning them. "Is bouncy," she told him, feeling the rubber on the wheels. "Train wheel no bouncy."

" Trains have to stick to the trace if they had bouncy wheels they'd fall off" Rook reasoned " I dunno why cars have bouncy wheels" After all they needed to stay stuck to the road to be safe. The young child made a note to ask his teacher that at school the nest day, why cars had wheels like they did.

She nodded, thinking about it as well as she placed the car on the ground and wheeled it around for a bit. Then she handed it back to him. "They no go chu chuu," she said before toddling back to her train.
Obviously chu chuu trumped honk honk.

Rook laughed and began driving the car around on the carpet again. This girl was strange. She pitied him for being tall and rejected cars for having bouncy wheels and not sounding like trains. All in all he wasn't certain what to make of her.
"What's an airship" he asked suddenly remembering the thing the dwarf child had mentioned earlier. Rook had never heard of such a thing before and trying to imagine one just left him with visions of boats floating in the sky.

She blinked at him, crouching over her train. "Is home," she said simply, wondering who in the world didn't know about airships. "Is got biiiiig---" She waved her hands in a vaguely circular manner over her head. "Tingy," she finished, quite satisfied with that explanation.
"Chuu!" she added, wheeling her train around.

Rook still didn't know what the heck the girl was talking about, still he supposed he could look them up when he got home. Getting a bit bored and running out of things to say to the girl he was glad when he spotted his mother and sisters headed in his direction.
" I have to go now, have fun with with your train." He said as he stood, the chain on the shackle on his left ankle jingling a bit as he did so this time.

"Bah bye," Jordan called without really paying attention as he left. She had a toy train, she was good!
