How many of them have bad lungs and hearts? like only 1 of like 30

Kibeth Why would you get yelled at if the band director doesn't believe that you're the only one playing? The sections leaders and those seniors should be the ones getting yelled at. Okay, if that's what happened, then I would say you need to talk to your band director. Tell him/her that you tried not playing for once, and the resulting factor...That it's not your fault, and the BD needs to get it together and tell those other tubas to do some actually work. Something like that. But try to be nice about it. idk but my band director always yells at the tubas....i told him tht noone else plays and he doesnt do a thing about it

How can you be six foot tall and only weigh 100 lbs? I think that's almost humanly impossible. Wow.
You're a guy, right?
He's a bad band director. At this point, (considering I am a music education major in college and I know that this kind of attitude your BD is displaying is unacceptable) is there any other band you can join? I don't want you to quit music, but being with that a band director who refuses to correct problems is unhealthy towards to musical achievement.

6’ and 100lbs? Thyroid or not, how can you lift the sousaphone? I can tell you now that that is probably what’s contributing to your back problems. I too played sousaphone and am quite tall and skinny. I developed horrible lower back problems and my chiropractor said that it was because I lacked muscle strength back there. See a chiropractor about your back, maybe a simple muscle building exercise will help there.
You admittedly have bad lungs and multiple people have told you to quit smoking, but I get the sense that you could care less, so I’m not going to lecture you about it.
As for your teacher, try to sit down with him and have a calm and mature talk that you feel you are being undermined and treated differently because of your age. Express your concerns that you feel the rest of your section aren’t pulling their weight, leaving you to carry them. If not, then you are just going to have to deal with it until you yourself are a senior. Just let everything roll off you; don’t let them bring you down. Take pride in the fact that when you are older, you will blow your BD away with your playing.
Also, does your band do chair placements? How is the section leader determined? You might have to also wait for a time/reason to play individually in front of your teacher.

Quote: thnx for the help(about my back) my band doesnt do chair placement.....the section leader is picked by whoever can play the best That's my point. However the best player is decided, be it individuals in a room playing for the teacher or whatever, then will be your chance to show up the other players and prove your skills. Good luck with whatever happens smile
