I am only against the notion to relate it to an owl. However, this is a personal suggestion and wish it to remain anonymous.
Also
i think you should delete anybody who does not participate; why keep them? and on the welcoming page of the guild it should state "You need to be an active member or else!!! you will be banned" (or something)
Right now, i think you should make a white and black list of all the people who have been active throughout the guild's history. People who have never posted anything should get a warning and then "BOOT" them.
(In other words, punish for being inactive and reward for being active)
i think you should let people who are inative get a pm about kickin inactive members, and tell them to reply if they want to stay in the guild or not. to stay in, i think you need at least one story.

I say kick them out and then let them join in after a written letter of apology (from them). I like being strict; tough love, you know? Things get done in this manner rather than being all sugar-coated nonsense. What we need is new active members; last few contests, there have been no winners due to the fact that nobody enters them.

Alright, i wrote a letter. I'll send it to everyone who hasn't posted anything or donated (save two people, who I know personally, which I will send them a pm of my own) I tried to make it as kind as I could. I'm sending it out right now

hey that's pretty good banner lil-secret-mystery!! (although you forgot the "United" part) ====================================== okay, what i am about to suggest might make some people in this guild disappointed OR they might be motivated on doing something.
......First off: I suggest we invite ACTIVE members; AND promote activity within the guild
1) by upping the prize haul or 2) by threatening to ban.
......Second: I suggest that you drop what you don't need; right now (I just checked myself), the Opinions Galore sub-forum, the Fan-fic sub-forum, and the Short Stories sub-forum, have gone through a series of unfortunate inactivity due to lack of care or, in other words, ignorance (from me as a member, from roners as the guild leader/captain, from the crew, and mainly from every member).
SO
by suggesting on dropping ONE sub-forum if no activity is shown, then we may be able to see some results
OORR
by suggesting to UP-scale the prize-load/amount of Gold, we MIGHT be able to promote activity inside this here guild.
SO WHAT I'M BASICALLY SAYING IS!!!!: We need more activity from our members and more quality in their work; the prize should depend on the quality of the words chosen to represent each field, whether it be short stories, fan-fic, poetry, or essay, and that we instigate and promote activity, through force or bribery, by instilling either fear or greed, so that this community of writers can uphold a utopia of written words and sentences, of mastery of the subject of writing, of the virtues of good "writer's"manship, and so on and so forth.

If we got someone rich and has nothing else to do, that would be excellent razz And to add on to that, i just though of something. We could have ONE BIG CONTEST every two months or so. That will allow more time for donors and maybe more people will submit due to the increase gold. The 1st prize could be like 20k+ with 2rd 10k+ and 3rd as 5k+. The only thing about 'scaring' people away is that it isn't really that they don't want to, they just don't check regularly to see when they start (well, some might be 2 lazy, but for the most part). I've gotten so many PMs about how the contests work and where to go to submit. How about that?

I've gotten so many PMs about how the contests work and where to go to submit. How about that? Every time they ask you a question, you link them to the Guild's rules and guidelines. I'm sure that they will understand them; otherwise they'll ask you a question and then you answer it AND update the rules and guidelines; THAT way, you answer another person's query that might have been the same or SIMILAR to the one that asked originally. As for the money, this is easy; ask for a participation fee of about 20-100g. I'm sure the more people join in, the more gold you can earn AND I don't think anybody will just pay the gold without putting some effort into their work, thus increasing the quality of the work submitted AND increasing the amount of gold rightfully earned in the contests. As for the monthly contest, I believe you should not do it just yet; people might get greedy and start joining in for that reason and that reason only. The true cause of my doubt comes from experience within other guilds; inactive members ruined what could have been an on-going experience of true literate learning, true mastery of said subject, true bondage of fellow writers for the purpose of art. I suggest that if this were to be done, that you instigate an entrance fee of at least 200g and up to 500g. People entering such high-priced contests might not like the idea of losing said price and might go for the Grand Prize. At the same time, this contest should take longer in submitting, it should have more than one judge (at least three in my opinion), and there should be a debate amongst the fellow writers in this guild; they should have a say in the matter, or a thread where they post their opinions on the matter while casting their individual vote. As for the lazy people send them this letter: Letter of Inconsistencies Hello fellow writer; My name is (yournamehere) and I wanted to bring to your attention the following matter: Your involvement in the WGU (Writer's Guild United). Now, as of late, we (the guild) feel it is necessary to either promote the study of writing or the support of it; however, it has come to our attention that you have lacked to participate rarely, or not at all, and so we have come at a point where we must choose what to do with your membership in this guild. If you are having real life issues at the moment, don't disregard but please respond in the matter; it isn't our business what happens in your life (if it be that you are too sick to get online, your internet is having problems, real life issues such as family problems, pregnancy, robbery, etcetera) but you must please contact the Captain, Vice Captain, or a member of the Crew, OR a very close friend of yours and explain the situation (not all the details; just an excuse: for example, "My dog had to be put down, so I won't be able to get online for a while." "My mother is ill and so I have to go visit her in another state." "I have a real life issue that I am not comfortable speaking to you about.") We understand you have a life and that sometimes circumstances won't permit you to write or to participate; if this is the care, then please provide us with said solution. CHOOSE ONE OF THE TWO!!!! Otherwise it might lead to an argument and to fighting and spamming and flaming. NOT GOOD!!! so choose carefully.IF, however, this is not the case, feel free to explain in a very well detailed essay on why we should let you back in the guild after we've banned you (English, 3000 words, must have at least 4 supporting reasons, 4 quotes min., and a works cited paragraph in the style of your choosing). You will be added onto the "Black List" (which only the Captain, Vice Captain, and members of the crew can see) and you will be given a yellow warning. (For warnings please click HERE <--(link).) If your essay is well written, and the people in the guild agree to bring you back in, your Warning level will go back down to green/blue. If, however, you do not meet the requirements to come back into the guild, you will be in the red/black warning level; please go away; we have no tolerance for ignoramuses such as yourself. We strive to be the best, but we are only starting out. (you can take this off when we have been a guild for more than 3 months) It's people like you that ruin our chance to learn something valuable, such as the art of writing. Please don't come back, bury yourself in your own s**t, and leave us alone. Thank you and have a good day. Of course, that's what I'd do; roners buddy... this is your guild.

But of course before that happens, we must have people WANTING to join the guild. Everyone in this guild has been invited. We haven't had one applacation so far. I've started advertising on forums, but it would be excellent if everyone put a link on their siggies. It doesn't have to be much, just a link and maybe something to suggest that its a writing guild. I will definitely use that letter, it is a very well-writing letter, except for the end, I don't want people yelling at me and pissed off (not that I care, but I don't randomly yell at people, only when I'm angry, then you should take a step back lol) And for my Guild, its all yours, except that I have all the power razz

Also, since you have money on the guild account, I suggest creating at least one sub-forum for the crew only; that is, a forum for the crew, the Captain, the Vice Captain, and the moderators to chill out, to talk about future plans/projects, to discuss the dismissal of troublesome or quarreling members, and to form a band of friendship (okay, that last one is a little too cheesy for my taste). I also agree with the last part of the "Letter"; I don't want to get into a fight with anybody else either. As for linking your guild in our signatures, this should do well if you offered monetary compensations; if you had money, you would give 50g to people who post a link to this guild -- thus motivating with greed, or rather, enjoying "a little extra." However, if people decide to get creative and make a banner (like lil-secret-mystery), they should be well rewarded. (she should get like at least 100g for going through the trouble of making a banner, and if she fixes it she should get at least 100 more). Well, I think this covers all of the nuisances for today; have a good day everybody. :goes to sleep:

Maybe you could create a new sub-forum where people can talk about books?

And my final nitpick (of the day): Post this here quote on the front page so that we can begin our collection of gold. Quote: Please don't use the donation form below, because then the only thing we can use your donations for are more subforums, which we do not need. Instead, please send all donations in a trade to the username (input username here). Thank you!
