I almost forgot it came out this week. I really want to get it but I'm not sure when I'm going to make it to a bookstore and I need to save money for a con I'm going to next weekend.

It was amazing and you guys wont believe what happens.
Small spoiler: The person she sleeps with that she knows, is not bernardo or olaf, but a vampire. My bad, two vampires.

So bought it, read it, liked it kinda.
Wasn't her best but it wasn't her worst, I think.
Olaf didn't disappoint me. I can hardly wait for Anita and Olaf to fight to the death. This may sound weird but I kinda hope Olaf rapes her.
Oh and my friend brought up an interesting point yesterday. When was the last time she did anything with zombies? Maybe we're just senile(we're 19) and don't remember the most recent books. *shrugs*
Oh and I miss Asher. All we got was 'Oh look at him in the bed, dead to the world with his beautiful but scarred flesh.' More Asher wouldn't hurt.

So far I am LOVING Skin Trade. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and adoring every second of it.
Honestly, it's not the best Anita Blake book, it's nothing spectacularly outstanding by itself, but I'm just so freaking glad to have an Anita Blake book that gets back to how things used to be. Or at least, sort of. As much as I like some of the regular characters, like Nathaniel and Jason, the rediculous level of pointless sex and reduntant plotlines were making me start to consider stopping reading for good. It was all just sex, she gets power, sex, she gets power and collects more people to have sex with and get more power from. Over and over. This book has given me hope. I've missed the old Anita- the zombie raising, vampire hunting, police aiding, epic butt-kicking Anita. Skin Trade may not bring back all of what she used to be but at least it's a hellova lot more than usual.
Oh, and Edward. How I have missed him... And Olaf too. It's wonderful to see the team again. Really, Edward is the reason I've stuck through it all, eagerly awaiting my next glimpse of him.
So overall, a giant THUMBS-UP for Laurell K. Hamilton (maybe) finally realizing that the smuttier is NOT necessarily the better!

All these good reviews make me so anxious to read the new book.
@bluewearsblack: I'm glad she doesn't sleep is not Edward, Bernardo, or Olaf. Though I wonder was it two vampires at the same time?
@Womanizer: I kinda hope the same thing or at least attempted rape (so bad). Also Anita works with zombies but the books only show a small potion of her life when something happens. I'm sure during a regular day she actually goes to work.
edit: @Adonis DeCreatu: Its great to hear the smut is not running the show.

Alright now, as I have finished the book today, I shall make my final review. I must update my previous review by saying that it was mostly not about the sex. It still showed up eventually but it was still not nearly as bad as it could have been, nor as much, so the book still gets three cheers from me on that respect. It was a breath of fresh air for the Anita Blake saga.
Also, I cannot explain due to the fact that I don't want to give spoilers, but I was disappointed with the ending. It seemed very... anticlimactic, and almost thrown together as if she suddenly had an idea and tried to make it fit by switching everything around rapidly, and it just didn't work in my opinion. It was too bad, because everything up to that point was great.
So like I said earlier, it's definitely not the best book I've ever read, nor the best of the Anita Blake series, but I still greatly appreciated it for a glimpse back into the life she used to lead before the books turned into smut novels. And Edward and Olaf did not disappoint, which always makes it worth while to me. heart

I finally finished Skin Trade!! I really liked it. It focused more on her fighting and solving crime, which is why I got into the series in the first place. I loved Edward/Olaf/Bernado/Anita scenes. I thought I was going to hate it because I really can't tolerate Olaf but those scenes just made me smile, probably because I love how Anita and Edward's relationship is evolving and Edward's becoming a little more personable. I will say that I miss Micah, Jean-Claude and Jason. Sure, Jason was in the last book but those three are my favorites. I hope they're in the next one and they actually do something.
On a side, I was wondering something: Is Marmee Noir dead? I mean they blew up her body and Vittorio was in the dream trying to mess with her too or something. Can somebody clear that up, please?

Here is my though: I think she is still alive. At least though spirit form. No way she is going to die and Anita never met her in the flesh. I think.

I just finished Skin Trade this morning and I have to say that I loved it. I was worried that it would be a smut fest but i was pleasantly surprised. I loved that we got so see a more grown up version of the old Anita, that Edward was opening up a bit more to Anita, that Olaf is still crazy in lust with Anita, and that Bernado felt out of place with all the crazy tension that was flying around everywhere.
I wanna say some spoilerish things but I don't know how many of us read it! ::sigh::

Mally91 I'm excited about skin trade through I'm sad Anita is leaving town for this book. Means we'll be seeing less of our regular characters. exactly! for the past couple of books she's been out of town! i hope in the new books she'll be back home and everyone will in them!
