(( *reads Yuna's post* Oooh, that'll get interesting x3 ))

"I trust no one's judgment of potential more than yours, Loki. And I assume you're not just referring to his coloring when you say he's at home with the shadows," Danel said while thoughtfully looking over the newest pup. Two in one day; what odds. Smiling that dark parody of a smile, the God-Alpha stepped toward Perun and lowered his head, meeting the pup's light blue eyes with his piercing emerald ones.
"So, little brother," Danel began, forgoing the use of the pup's formal name in favor of familiarity. "Is it in your destiny to be a part of the Brotherhood as well?"

"This one is not so promising, your lordship.." the Voice murmured, putting overly simpering emphasis on the title.
"Vanity, need for attention... No obvious strengths. Kill it and be done."

Danel actually felt the impulse to carry out the voice's command but he quickly checked himself, even more intensely studying Perun now. Strength was needed, yes, but quality was even more important. He would wait to judge..
"It would please me if you would demonstrate your skill with the shadows. Wrap yourself in them, show me you are worthy of my attention and Loki's recommendation."

Raising his head, but not yet looking at the blood red wolf directly, Perun quickly remembered the lessons that Loki had taught him. He closed his eyes and thought about the comfort that the shadows had brought him, the warmth and the closeness they gave him. The shadows quickly wrapped around the pup as he worked with ease. The weight of the shadows now was upon him, and it made him feel good about himself. He opened his eyes and now hoped that he had done what he was supposed to, and deep down he hoped he received compliments from at least Loki.

Loki watched as the young pup melted into the shadows, drawing them in as if they were a flowing cloak. He was proud of his pick, though the pup was not as aggressive as some of the others, he had a natural affinity for the shadows that even some of the older members of the pack lacked.

"You see, My Lord, the shadows come to him as easily as they do myself. He has talent for stealth, too, My Lord. He was able to keep with me easily as I returned to our lands, and left no more trail than I."

Loki knew that this was a very dangerous time. If he were to bring one to the pack that the God-Alpha deemed unworthy, not only would the pup die, but his own status would be ruined. Loki took pride in the fact that the God-Alpha trusted him so much that he was allowed the freedom that others of his rank were not. He did not even think that other Omegas would dare speak to their God. Loki knew that any special treatment he recieved was due entirely to his ability to manipulate the situation, but his God was beyond manipulation. It scared him, and awed him at the same time to know that there was one such as Danel protecting the pack. There was no one more able to lead the Brotherhood to the glory they so deserved.

The voice had receded into silence once more; perhaps as impressed by Perun's skills with the shadows as he himself was. In any case, it gave Danel the calm tranquility he needed to decide the pup's fate.
The big red god could feel the air of anxious tension around his faithful thief and the youngling. Both sought his approval, if for very different reasons. He didn't particularly mind that Perun's foremost motive was vanity. The pup would learn devotion in time..
"Hmph," he made a noise, somewhere between snort and sigh, drawing out the suspense. Dramaticism was a vice he could not help but dabble in sometimes. "His skill is quite impressive, Loki. You are keen as always. Welcome to the Brotherhood, Perun," He finished, his face split in a fierce grin.

Loki let out a sigh of relief. His choice again allowed him his freedom. He bowed to his God. "Thank you, Lord" He turned to the pup, "You did well, Perun. Thank you." He figured that the little pup saved him, and deserved a little praise. Loki knew that this little pup was no where near his normal standards, but something about him called to the thief. Perhaps it was some repressed memory of his own youth, during the time when he was taken, or maybe it was just the stealthy way the pup had stalked away from his own cave. Whatever it was, he felt a connection to him, even if the vain little pup was too easy to manipulate.

He turned back to his God, and said, "I shall take him to the pack, and leave him with the teachers then. He should learn our ways quickly enough."

Perun released the shadows that had wrapped himself around him. The air now felt cold to him, but he couldn't help but smile. He had done it! His tail wagged slightly as he bowed his head to the red male. The vain pup had done it and got complimented! Oh happy times!

His head snapped up when he heard that Loki was going to leave him alone with these teachers. He didn't want to learn from them! While traveling here the little pup had been thinking about how much he wanted to be just like Loki, and if he were to be separated from him, well then he wouldn't be like him! "Leave me? But I want to learn from you. I promise I won't be in the way." Perun knew that he was probably violating some unsaid rule of speaking out but how could he be like Loki if he wasn't learning from him? So in effort to make up for being disrespectful, the pup lowered his head as far is it could go all while hoping he'd be allowed to go with Loki.

Danel had literally just been about to tell Loki to forgo taking Perun to the teachers and, instead, keep the pup as his apprentice in the art of thieving. But he was rudely interrupted by the very pup in question. Mildly annoyed, Danel's brilliant green eyes settled on Perun, boring into the top of the youngling's head. Lack of respect would never do..

"Never do indeed, twit. I told you you should have simply killed the whelp. And a good dose of punishment would teach the Thief to be more selective, I think.." the Voice whispered, worming it's way to the forefront once more.

Truly irritated now, Danel commanded imperiously, "Look upon me, Perun. Lift your eyes and meet those of your alpha." He waited for the pup to obey before he continued.
"You will go to the teachers first and learn what you can from them. Do not question further, Perun. I am your alpha, your god, your everything and you will obey." Saying all he needed to to Perun, Danel turned his focus back on Loki.
"I will accompany you both back to the packlands."

Perun raised his head slowly and opened his eyes as he looked directly into Danel's eyes. He could't stay with Loki? But how was he to learn to be like the purple omega? The young pup did the only thing he could for the time being. "Yes my lord." He quietly said without blinking. As the red wolf turned his attention to Loki the little pup pondered how he could get out of staying with the teachers.

Though if he were to be left with the teachers he would learn their lessons quickly enough to go join Loki and learn from him. His mind raced with thoughts and ideas as he waited patiently to leave for his new home. A small thought about the family he had left kept nagging at the back of his mind, but for a final time he said mentally said good bye to them, and turned his attention to what the omega and alpha were doing.

"Stupid Pup" Loki hissed at Perun. "Can't you tell when to NOT open your mouth!!" His normally low growling voice became almost a violent whip towards the pup. He began shaking, in anger towards Perun, and in fear of his god. He turned to his Alpha. "Of course, My Lord. It would be an honor, to escort you back to our home" Loki now only hoped that he would escape any punishment that would prevent him from thieving. He lived for the manipulation of situations, the hunt for new blood. He became restless, Bored, when he was stuck around the pack for too long. He could remember the last time he got Bored, and began trying to manipulate the higher members of the pack. The Weapon was easy, his bloodlust was a easy target. The Shield could be manipulated too, he had vices of his own. Loki had to remember that these wolves were not targets, that they could end his life with no consequences. Even the gammas made easy targets for his boredom, if he wasn't careful.

He shook his head. No he couldn't play that game. There was already too much strife in the pack. He HAD to stay out on the hunt. If this stupid pup ruined that, he would have an unfortunate accident. possibly fatal. He fell in behind his God, keeping his head low, showing his respect for his Lord.

"The whelp defies you, O Mighty Lord," the Voice murmured, a trace of amusement in its tone. "You would do well to heed me; destroy him before he destroys the Brotherhood. He will bring about our doom. He will be the death of us...." The Voice paused as if waiting for an answer but none was forthcoming.
"Arrange for an..accident, say? Accidents happen, especially to headstrong pups who know not their place..."

Danel was aware of the workings of young Perun's mind. He rather appreciated the pup's audacity. But he knew the voice was right... Audacity was what had created the rumors circulating about his pack, rumors born from secrets that should never have been shared...
"Perun," Danel began, his voice booming out in the silence that had descended over the group. He did not bother to look back to check if the pup was listening.
"I wonder if maybe your disobedience is brought on by discomfort. If that is the case, it saddens me. Perhaps, to make you feel welcome, you should accompany me on a perimeter check tomorrow evening. Then I will get to see and appraise more of your skill with the shadows and maybe show you that you have my trust..." He let the offer hang, waiting for the bait to be taken.

"You are wise beyond doubt..."
