"Obviously you speak from experience, though I'm sure you've never been the recipient of such an unpleasant present." Alestair raised a brow at the younger gargoyle and shook his head imagining the antics he had been in growing up. Of course it still seemed that Alister had more growing to do despite finally reaching adulthood.

He snorted, but a small smirk crossed his lips. "I probably would..." He nodded softly and glanced up at the other gargoyles, younger, perhaps even stronger, but Alister spoke the truth. Age had brought him much hard earned experience, perhaps it was time he tried to share some of it. "Hmm it seems the first one that could use a whipping would be you Alister..." He chuckled softly. "Though somehow I doubt that would teach you your lesson."

"I speak from experience of getting thrown into a lake for it, if nothing else. That was pretty unpleasant." He snorted at the gargoyle, rubbing his neck. Of course he'd never gotten anything thrown at him. He was always careful to stay out of eye's view if he tried flinging something as volatile as cow dung. He didn't have a death wish, after all. And when someone did throw something at him, usually it was out of frustration, so he could dodge it quickly enough. Or run like hell.

He blinked at the comment, and snorted. "Me? Naaaah. Punishment does me no good." He beamed brightly, as if that were a shining blessing. "I'm much too stubborn for that." He couldn't remember ever being beaten up for hitting someone except for the Dung Incident. He'd always been able to get someone to laugh it off, or hide away until they forgot their anger. Luck of the Scottish and all that. "Some of them, though, they're good." He said, glancing up again. "Pride of this clan. Others're used to being praised and are prideful because of it." Observing his targets gave Alister time to look at how they acted. He'd always been a quiet observer, with or without the slingshot.

"One would think such unpleasantness would keep you from continuing that vein of behavior, but clearly your far too stubborn for such a lesson." He shook his head the wry grin once again crossing his lips. Alister was a puzzle to him, so cheerful despite the trouble he caused. Still the young gargoyle didn't see spiteful or cruel, it was all in jest which helped Alestair not to throttle him.

"They should be proud, it takes much work to mold a good warrior, besides the raw talent and strength." He gave a soft sigh before turning. "I had best go, I wouldn't wish to neglect my own duties after all, you will try and stay out of trouble for a few minutes at least won't you Alister? Just until I'm out of sight." He chuckled and spread his wings.

"Everyone says I have a thick skull," he said with an innocent grin, lifting his shoulders in a shrug. He was okay with being the prankster, the one who wasn't quite as smart as everyone else. He was quick enough to figure things out on his own, even if it took him a minute or two. "Nothin' gets through it." He smiled, reaching up and scratching the horns above his eyebrow lightly, moving the hair out of his eyes. It simply settled again, making him grunt a little in disapproval. It did what it wanted to, with or without his intervention.

He nodded a little, crossing his arms. "Pride isn't always a good thing, though." He said lightly, smiling a little at his comment. "I make no promises." He said, grinning a little. And true to his word, the moment Alestair wasn't looking, a small round pebble was thrown at him. This time, though, it was aimed at a thicker part of his left wing, instead of his head.

Alestair gave a soft snort and threw his wings out before leaping to glide off, ready to do his duty to the clan. He was however mildly proud for not having ripped the younger males head off. Still his mind lingered wondering what he would do in the coming years, would his life as a warrior shift? What would he do with the long nights, with himself.

He raised his hand in a small good evening gesture for Alister and then vanished into the dark night's embrace.
