i knew that the outside runes were real...and the gott mis uns part was german...*has a friend whose always screaming OH MIEN GOTT!* teehee thanks for the info on what the runes where whee

I always figured the runes were a reiteration of the English/German, but it's nice to have confirmation on such! 3nodding

Hee. I didn't know exactly what the language was called, but I knew it was the Witches Alphabet. Because..uh..I read fanfiction, and those authors KNOW things. At least the ones worth reading. That's really cool stuff. On the OVA commentary, Talisen (the director) said he had talked to Hirano and told him about translating the gloves, and Hirano laughed and went, " You actually DECIPHERED those things??!"
Ok, that was pointless, but amusing nonetheless.
I did, however, know the German part. Yay me! I feel smart for once.

I read about the writing on Alucard's glove a couple of years ago and it's just really interesting. Still thanks for sharing and reminding me about it so I can tell it to my friends who just into Hellsing cause they are like, "What's up with that sign and writing on his gloves?" heart

I spent the summer memorizing the Theban Alphabet, and used in in a Pagan circle as a sort of private language. It was pretty cool, and I think the letters are all beautiful in themselves.
