Dayo could only huff at Bhel and his remark. The Silver Snakes were so not stupid... otherwise they wouldn't have the highest win rate out of all the teams at Laz0rtag. As the bullchild ran off, she stuck her tongue out at him behind his back, more than looking forward to mowing him down. First this game... next, the prize rack.
Grinning at Lucretia, she replied, "Yeah, we're totally taking him to Loserville!"

Aww, how... not... quite cute...
It was always cute to see someone else's child eat so messily - Mouse was only watching the kid, and as such felt no obligation to keep him clean - so she was free to enjoy the sight of Xiao Huo's first taste of ice cream, no strings attached.
Until his odd telepathy-slash-empathy sent her an intense feeling of wrong. Her gaze slowly shifted to make eye contact with him, a growing concern replying to his projections of distress. "Uh-oh. Did you get brain freeze, kid?"

As expected, once in the arena and under the blacklights, all of Lucretia that is not covered by her black sheet glows an eerie purplish. Her rune is hidden under the fabric, but still casts a light straight down, which, like underlighting on a sports car, is much more noticeable in the dark. As the voice over the loudspeaker gives them a slow countdown to get into position before the game itself starts, the Raevan grins and weaves around the walls, keeping an eye out for her brother as she edges towards his team's base.
"Which way do you think is the best way to attack Bhel's base?" she asked her newfound ally, having to nearly shout to be heard over the arena's heart-pounding techno. "I usually play on that team, so I don't have to think about how to get there."

The boy wiped his mouth off on a sleeve, his lips already starting to look a bit redder than before, and perhaps slightly swollen. Xiao Huo's brow furrowed and he dropped the spoon, now regarding both the bowl of ice cream with suspicion.
He projects that he thinks his stomach is going to be very angry at the strange food; the boy also gives off a feeling of rising panic, along with a sudden powerful desire for his Mommy.

And as those who knew her well enough might expect, Dayo went wide-eyed and broad-smiling with awe and glee as her teammate magically changed colors under the blacklight. "Whoa... whoa!! You can, like... you glow in the dark! That is way too cool." Her new friend was getting more and more awesome by the minute. The eagle girl could easily imagine that she made at least twice as many kids in here wet their pants as she could.
Her own rune cast a gloomy-sky glow on the edges of her form, the shaggy outline of her hair giving her a lion's mane and a monster's eyes that gleamed under the blacklight. For a moment the light illuminated her teeth in a grin that looked appropriately predatory for once as the eagle's instincts kicked in and she pondered her team's first move.
"How about we wait for some of them to be dumb enough to attack us?" Excitement and a primal hunger were starting to choke the air around her. Really, strategy didn't matter to her so much as long as she got to fly around and shoot people.

"...Uh-oh."
God, she could see the poor kid's face changing before her eyes! Her head whipped around on her shoulders in sudden anxiety, just waiting for someone to be shooting a disapproving glare right back at her. This wasn't good... something in that ice cream had made him sick, but what, the mechanic had no clue.
"Ummm..." she inched closer to the boy, one hand tentatively wavering in the air as she wrestled with the idea of giving him some sort of comfort, "...is this the part where I should be rushing you to a bathroom?"

Lucretia already felt predatory - it was part of why she loved laser tag so much! - and having a new friend like Dayo with her only made things that much more exciting. The Ice Rose grinned back, striking a pose with her gun. It was not just like a game, but like going hunting!
... Of course, she would have to try to score more points than Dayo, even if they were on the same team.... But for now-
"Yeah, that sounds like a good plan," Lucretia replied. "Do we want to look for good hiding places, or just shoot around corners?"

Putting his hands to his stomach, Xiao Huo then proved that he was in fact capable of producing audible noise by bursting into tears. At the same time, he radiated a general feeling of crying !!!! as an icky-twisting feeling of pain in his stomach came on full-force. His projections were otherwise an upset jumble, the only easily discernible bits being his longing for his mother and a really worried feeling that he was going to die here without her!!1

It probably wouldn't have been a surprise to Lucretia that Dayo was having the same thoughts as she was - namely, that while kicking Bhel's butt and everything below it was all fine and good, it would be even better if she could keep up the high-scoring pace while she did so. She wasn't about to give up the high rank she'd been working on all day!
"I dunno if we could hide," Dayo laughed, in a brief moment of tactical skill. Lucretia was horribly blacklight responsive, and the eagle girl was making no effort to hide her rune, so they'd both be fairly easy to spot for players who knew they were there. "Like, I usually look for whoever's the most nervous and chase 'im down... like this!"
And with that she was off... tearing after a scrawny-looking fifth grader on Bhel's team.

"Wh-wh-wh-whoa, kid! Try and take it easy, okay?" the mechanic stuttered, waving her hands in the universally useless 'calm down' gesture. And after a couple seconds of hesitation she quickly scooped him up and bolted across the snack station.
She wasn't liking this... but it was bathroom time.

Lucretia was quiet for a moment as she glanced at Dayo, then down at herself... then laughed a little. Her black sheet covered at least part of her white skin, but she still glowed. And Dayo sort of stood out, too.
"Maybe we can be glowy and scare people instead?" she started to suggest before Dayo took off.
Grinning eagerly, Lucretia followed her, but then turned down another hallway in the maze as she spotted an older boy from the third team. Perhaps she could meet up again with Dayo later, but for now, this prey seemed like he would be easy to catch. Laser ready, the Ice Rose rushed after him.
Though he had been planning on working alone against his sister to prove that maybe he did not need her, Bhel ended up pairing up with this wimpy-looking kid and followed him through the labyrinth of black-painted wooden walls.
He was not completely ready for his partner to lead him straight to the new Raevan girl, though. With a shout of surprise and excitement as he turned a corner and saw her, Bhel fumbled to get his laser ready, then began to shoot frantically in Dayo's general direction.

Xiao Huo gasped and whimpered, and radiated terror as the woman who was practically a stranger grabbed him. Was she taking him to the doctor!?// That was what usually happened when he got sick and unhappy and filled with pain like this. And any minute he would start to have even more trouble breathing and it would be scary and WHERE WAS HIS MOTHER? crying
The Porcelain struggled a little as he was carted off to the bathroom. Milk or no milk in his system, the boy seemed frantic and upset enough to barf anyway.
