This was ridiculous, Magdelen decided, and she looked at a rack of clothing as if it had personally offended her. But it was nice, for being ridiculous. "Dark colors would probably be best," she said, her tone quite subdued. "Prob'ly."
Brightening a little, she glanced over both of her shoulders. Perhaps Dad would be happy if she dressed like this girl? It was worth a go.

"And it'll look cool on you," Kash agreed, looking around. She found a rack of sleeveless black and purple shirts with silver designs on them.
"Something like this, maybe? With a jacket? There's some short jackets over there." She had no idea, to be honest, she had never tried dressing someone else before. Mostly she just picked stuff that she liked and wore them, regardless if they looked good or not. "And some baggy pants with chains!" she decided.

She eyed the shirt. "Will all of my arms be covered," she blurted, flushing a strange shade of red before turning to look over at the jackets that had been pointed out. They looked long enough to get to her wrists, Magdelen decided, and she picked up a black denim one to stretch it along her arm. Yeah, she thought. If she got it a size bigger...
"I don't think chains are such a good idea," she muttered. "Why don't we look for stuff for you instead?"

Kash hesitated, wondering if she had made a serious blunder. It was probably the smell, she realized. Something was wrong with the girl and she didn't want others to realize it.
She realized she had been silent a moment too long and gave the other girl a smile. "Okay," she agreed. "We'll find some more stuff for me. But if you see anything you like, don't hesitate to grab it, okay?"

The extended silence made her nervous, so she couldn't really help the relieved smile that broke out over her face when the other girl smiled. "Alright," she said, gathering up the jacket in her arms. It would do well enough for what her dad wanted. "What are we finding, jeans or slacks?"

"Both, of course! We'll decide which looks better when we find them," Kash said before heading into the clothing like a girl on a mission.
Yeah, she thought, over all this had been a very good day, indeed.
