The small companion shrunk under the stare of the other fledglings and made a low irritated screeching sound to show his displeasure at the attention he was getting.
Darkwood’s head tilted a little as if wondering who the older fledgling was addressing, Dork or himself. Sentinels tended to avoid the parus but it wasn’t uncommon for a complete stranger to take offense to something the silly bird said.
“Don’t mind my parus. He tends to say silly things…” The fledgling’s eartufts flickered excitedly when he heard the invitation. “But I probably shouldn’t. I’ve only had a few lessons and I’m still pretty bad at flying.” the small deep woods chuckled as he straightened up.
The fact that Highwind addressed him as well as Tassle’s invitation were enough to make the Darkwood confident enough to move closer to the others, following Bee Balm’s example and his parus protested indignantly at the sudden movement.
“Me not suspicious…” the parus muttered, facing Bee defiantly as he dropped to the branch flapping clumsily.
“Shh.” Darkwood commanded quietly before turning to Bee. “A fox? No, never. But I heard they're dangerous... they bite. I'm Darkwood by the way...”A closer look at the other fledglings told him they were all boys, two deep woods and two wildtypes. He was silently amused by that – though, truth be told, Darkwood was easily amused.

"I bet a fox or two 's gotten Mudbeak 'afore, too." He commented with a slight chuckle and shifted on his paws as he studied the little group of fledglings that had gathered. Bee Balm and Darkwood, huh? Well, this evening would turn out to be plenty interesting, if things continued the way they were. He wouldn't even care about missing this lesson with his parents!
"I ain't seen a fox 'afore, but I 'eard about them! They do bite." He gave Darkwood a nod, acknowledging the comment about foxes, then glanced around the small group again. "An y'know what else, I 'eard they'd eat a growed sentinel, too, not just fledglings." His little green eyes seemed to grow wider as he spoke about the carnivores on the forest floor. If they'd attack an adult, he wouldn't stand a chance for sure.
