"Ghost. Like you thought I was." A suprising burst of infectious laughter escaped Galleai's throat, transforming her into a different person for just a moment. "She's very lovely." Ships were always referred to as girls, weren't they? Galleai thought she'd read that somewhere... "Could we... maybe go see her?" She asked this shyly, not sure wether he'd be okay with the idea of letting her onto his boat or not.

When Galleai laughed, Melchy couldn't help but chuckle along. She was right; he had mistaken her for a ghost, just like his own ship was named. But she wasn't a ghost ship, no, definitely not. "Yeah, I guess yer right," he answered with a laugh, before looking solemnly up at her towering bulk. "Aye, she's a beauty, but Iunno how well we'll make out if we try gettin' up there," he answered. "How're you at climbin' rope? 'At's gunna be th'easiest way up there."

"I can do it in my sleep..." Gal said thoughtfully. Generally that sort of sentiment meant a person was very good at the task at hand, but for Gal it had a completely different meaning. "How hard can it be?" Walking over to the ship she stared up at it. "It's so big..."

AGAIN with the sleep mention, but this time, at least, the girl was using a metaphor Melchy understood...or thought he did. "A'ight," he said, tossing his head in a rebellious nod and then turning to the rope. Looking at it, he tilted his head thoughtfully, then tugged on it. It certainly wasn't moving. "A'ight," he repeated, then turned to Galleai and smiled. "I'll go first, t'make sure there's nothin' bad wot could grab either of us. I think there's a rope-ladder I can toss down f'r you after'ards, mmkay?" Grinning and not waiting for a reply, he turned and started a quick, catlike shinny up the rope.

She watched his effortless climb, hesitantly reaching out and tugging on one of the ropes. It was heavy and slickly wet. It didn't take long for the rope ladder to descend, though, and Galleai managed to climb it without much difficulty. She hauled herself over the railing onto the deck of the ship and looked around in wonder. "Oh..." She smiled at the cat-boy. "It's lovely up here. I feel like I can see the whole world."

At her words, Melchizedek puffed his chest out with pride. It might not technically be his ship, but in the current company, he was definitely closer to the owner than she was. Resisting the urge to strut the deck like an overgrown tomcat, he instead grinned at Galleai and nodded. "'F'it weren' so cold, I'd take y'up to th'crow's nest, but 's'a bit wet an' a bit slipp'ry. Don' wan' anyone getting hurt, y'know." Nodding, he looked out over the water at the moon's reflection and grinned, laughing a little and watching the puff of his breath float away.
"Wonder how late it is," he said thoughtfully.

Moving to stand near him, Galleai also watched the puff of their breath floating on the air. "It can't be too close to dawn. My dad would hunt me down if the sunrise was near. I'm not allowed out during the day." She knew that this wasn't necessarily common, but it didn't seem weird to her either. It was just how things were. "It's lovely out here. Do you ever wish you could just sail away? Not tell anyone where you were going and just... dissapear?"

"Cap'n don' know I'm out, an' I gotta get back b'fore sunup or I'm dead," Melchy said. Galleai's comment about not going out during the day perplexed him a bit, and he frowned. "How come," he began, then realized it was rude to pry into that for someone he had only just met, and instead focused on her other question. Frowning slightly, he considered the idea in silence for a while before looking back to Galleai and nodding. "Sometimes. Then I think abou' what'd happen if I ran into a storm alone. Sometimes 's'good t'have a crew," he said, nodding sagely.

Nodding in agreement about having a crew (at least, it seemed like sound reasoning) she opened her mouth to respond to why she wasn't allowed out during the day when a soft, eerie voice floated over the dock, calling her name. "Thats my dad, I'd better go." She said instead, smiling awkwardly. "You probably don't want to meet him. Not if you thought you were scared of me." There was a small, surprising giggle following that comment.

Galleai's words made Melchizedek tilt his head and regard her thoughtfully, even as that other soft voice made his fur stand on end. He couldn't admit that he was afraid, though, no. Pirates didn't do things like that. He was brave. Puffing his chest out to convince himself of that fact, he nodded slowly.
"A'ight," he said, "I oughta get home soon 'nyways, afore Cap'n wakes an' finds me out." Nodding sagely, he gently guided Galleai back to the rope ladder. When she had climbed down again, he rolled it up and shinnied back down the rope, the way he had come. Stopping in front of the girl, he gave a low bow and smiled at her. "Pleasure t'meetcha," he said, grinned at her, and then dashed off, disappearing into the shadows.
