As the priest rose again from the large instrument, putting the cover down over the white and black keys, Lai fixed himself once again though this time in a more relaxed stance. His shoulders eased down, he brought his hands out from behind himself, and his height fell just a little as the Russian's knees unlocked and bent just a little. The small pain from standing so properly worked its way out quickly as he repositioned himself, and for that he was grateful. He would hate to be wincing while talking to the priest. It could cause the other man to alarm over such a small thing and he didn't want to do that. Lai returned the smile as the priest gave it and spoke, but it flickered ever so slightly and the Russian's eyes got wide as Asmadai told him exactly when he was from. In a flash, though, his smile was back and joined with some soft, good humored laughter was asked himself.

"There is quite a distance of time separating us Father." Lai said as he stilled his bubbling amusement though his eyes were still full to the brim with it. "I was in St. Petersburg when time broke for me, trying to find a real purpose and working odd jobs. The year was nineteen twenty-six." It was true that by age he was younger than the blond by a few years, but time wise Lai was the much older man in the room. His laughter came back up again, still soft but rife with amusement as he watched the priest closely, waiting for his expressions and words after having Lai's broken year made known. The Russian man did some fast math in his head and spoke again, laughter subsiding into chuckling. "So by my count there is roughly...One hundred and twenty-four years between our times. I apologize for my laughter Father, I just find this rather amusing."

Even that faded though as Asmadai replied to his other statement about his sister's lullaby. To Lai it appeared he was treading on an area that his companion for the afternoon did not want to discuss any further. The shrug between the priest's words spoke volumes and the darker haired man was already thinking of a way to shift the conversation off this topic. Lai shook his head. "No need to apologize Father. I should be the one doing such a thing, as it was my curiosity that caused this part of our conversation to head on in such a manner." His smile became smaller and his expression looked the way he felt; a small bit of sadness for the man across from him but also deep respect and apology. His mind was drawing on blanks on how to change the topic but he felt relief as Asmadai seemed to have that already figured out. The man even tossed it in rather casually in Lai's opinion.

"Just simple curiosity and a feeling of needing to stretch my legs." One of his legs bent at the knee and Lai swung it like a pendulum for a couple passes before setting it down again. "I have been in LOTUS for a little while now, but there are still places in the building and on the grounds that I still have not explored yet. I decided to see what I could find today and happened to take my little excursion to the North Hall. Then I came upon you and, well, here we are then!"
