Luke chewed slowly as he pondered his abilities. "Well, I'm basicly as good at ice now as I am at water. And you saw the telekenisis with the soup. But I'm getting better with wind. I'm just playing around with other abilities right now. Not doing so well." He chuckled. "Working on them. I'll try not to practice those when you're around. Don't wanna traumatize you again." Luke tilted his head. Teach magic? "I... suppose I could try. Not sure how great a teacher I'll be." He scratched his head slightly. He'd have to think back to Reyson's lessons. "If you soak me, I'll accept it as payback."

Jaione laughed a bit at the idea that he still wasn't very good at other types of magic. "Don't worry, you're not the only one," she replied comfortingly, dragging a finger through the air and forming a little cloudy structure, which was immediately consumed by electricity and proceeded to vanish. She laughed at herself good-naturedly. "That's usually what happens when I try to use any kind of water magic; I guess that it's conductivity makes water magic a bit hard for someone with my talent," she added, smiling a bit at Luke.
"That's good; I wouldn't expect you to take it as anything but payback," she joked, sticking her tongue out at the older cattaur. Yeah, she was definitely glad to be back... "And don't worry, I'm a diligent student; even if you're not a good teacher," she teased, smiling brightly at the other.

With a tilt of his head, Luke lifted his hand, tracing that same figure Jai had. "It looks like you just need to rein in your electricity. You might be great using it, but you also have to learn about not using it." He said, pointing to the circle of water in the air, indicating for Jai to do something with it. "Try." He smiled back at the female, wondering at how lovely a smile she had. He was going to teach her then? Looking at the circle, he chuckled softly. He had already started trying to teach.

Jaione laughed nervously a bit at Luke's comment. "I know that I need to learn how to harness it; it's just hard 'cause it's been instinctive since before I could remember," she replied, which was true after all. As a child, charges of electricity would graze her tail, or the tips of her fur, or her hair. Understandably, it was like a security blanket, and hard for her to get rid of. Biting at her lip, she extended a hand to the ring of water, turning it gently in midair and holding it a few inches above her hand.
All seemed to be going well- by that point. Of course, it was only a moment after she thought that she might have started getting the hang of it while try to shape the ring into a sphere, only for water to shoot off in all directions. The young adult cattaur blinked violet eyes widely as she looked at her still-lifted hand, where a small puddle of water still existed. She chuckled embarrassed, letting the air lift the water and her electricity consume it. "I guess this might take a while, huh?" she asked, trying to smile, though it was awkward and nervous, given she just covered the whole room in droplets of water, including herself and Luke.

Luke nodded in understanding. Old habits die hard and all. Watching carefully, he barely twitched as water spouted everywhere. He laughed and shook out his hair. "You'll get there." Scanning the room with the palm of one hand, the water that had flung away returned, pooling into a ball in front of his palm. Then he dropped his hand and the ball vanished.
The door swung open loudly, banging into the wall. Wobbling in with an armful of cloth, Vesna kicked the door shut with a leg. "Luke, I-" She halted when she saw another cattaur here. She stared for about 3 seconds before shrieking loudly and throwing the cloth recklessly onto a nearby chair. "Jaioneee!!" Leaping forward, she dropped and clung happily to her friend. "When did you get back? How've you been? I missed you so much!" Her second thought, which she hid behind her smile, was, 'What is she doing here alone with Luke?!'

Jaione laughed a bit in response, lifting her hand to try once again as the door smacked against the wall, earning her wide-eyed attention. The smile already on her face brightened at the appearance of that all-too-familiar cervitaur. Almost at the exact same time, Jaione squealed girlishly as well, hugging Vesna back for all she was worth.
The questions asked in such quick succession made the cattaur laugh before smiling, still clinging happily to the friend who'd been like a sister to her. "I only got back maybe an hour or so ago. And I've been... well, I'm been training, that's for sure," the replied with a laugh, ecstatic at seeing such a long lost friend. "Seems I'm not the only one who grew," she added, releasing her friend a bit to grin at her face-to-face. "What about you, though?! How have you been here? What have you been doing since I left?"

Luke smirked happily. Looks like the duo was back together again. He was happy to see the smile on Vesna's face. Getting up quietly, he gave the girls their space and started tidying the kitchen of his little cooking mess.
Vesna held Jai's hands as she listened and responded. "I've been doing good. I've learned how to sew really well. I'm even starting to sell some of my shirts at the market. I just came back from there from buying some more cloth." She rambled on about what kinds of things she made and how they were selling. What the market was like. "It's so nice to have you back. Where are you gonna be staying?"

"Really? That's so cool! I'm glad that's been going good for you," Jaione replied after listening to the other girl's information. Really, even some of the more menial things of a normal lifestyle seeming very interesting after camping in the woods with no one to talk to for way longer than should be allowed at a school like that. "I still have the cloak you made me a while ago, too," she commented, gesturing with both of their hands to where the dark, armed cloak was heaped along with her bow and arrows. "It came in handy while I was gone, especially during the colder months," she added, tail flicking back and forth happily.
"Actually, I was planning on staying here, probably. Even if my training at the school is done, I still need some practice in certain areas, and Luke said that he would be willing to teach me water magic," she said with that ever-present smile, though she wondered if Vesna would react as she used to or would just be happy that Jai was staying in their house. Either way, she was happy to be back.

Vesna flicked her ears and nodded happily. She smiled at the cloak. "I'm glad you were able to use it. Kinda suprised it's still holding together." She giggled. Her smile faltered ever so slightly. She was estatic that Jai would be staying, but she wasn't sure about the whole Luke thing. She wasn't as concerned about it now as she was as a teenager, but the idea still made her a little uncomfortable. Did Jaione still have that crush on her dad? She laughed to cover herself. "That's great Jai! We can share my room!" If they ended up together, wouldn't that make Jai, like, her mom?!
Luke chuckled with a playful smirk. "Great. Now I have to listen to you two giggling into all hours of the night through the walls."

"I am, too," Jaione replied to the first statement with a laugh. With how it had been treated while she was away, it was a surprise that any cloak would last so long. Then again, she had honed her ability to, at the very least, hem up a few little holes that had appeared in it. Of course, that just made it look strangely lumpy and a little awkward, but it was still wearable, and still a cloak made by her best friend.
Her smile brightened even further at the thought of being able to share a room with the other girl, even though she knew that it would interfere with her sleeping, and then with her performance the next day. "That's a great idea, Vesna," she replied, giggling happily. At Luke's comment, she stuck her tongue out at him. "Then you'll be as tuckered out as I will the next day, old man," she teased, grinning at him anyway. "Then I'll feel less bad if I soak you to the bone."

Vesna smiled happily, already trying to figure out in her mind how to make space in the small room for Jai. "Soak? Not doing so well with the water then?" She smirked playfully. "If that's how it sounds, I might have to steer clear of you when you're practicing. I remember when Luke was practicing when we were younger!"
Luke placed on a look of mock suprise and tisked. "It will be nobody's fault but your own if you two keep each other up chatting."

Jaione laughed nervously as her friend pointed out her weak point. "Yeah, I'm not the best at it." She giggled at the thought of how Luke's magic always used to go haywire. "Hey, I'm not that bad," she said teasingly toward Vesna, but winking in Luke's direction; it was all in good fun, after all. She didn't want anyone to walk away with hurt feelings her first day back and all.
"I guess that's true..." Jaione commented, trying to give herself more time to think of some kind of witty comeback. Unfortunately, nothing came up despite that. She just chuckled awkwardly. "Yeah, but I've gotten a lot better at all my other magic! I'm... just really bad at water magic."

Laughing loudly, Vesna shook her head. "I should hope not!" She too gave Luke a comforting look. It was all fun. Luke could take a joke. Don't worry. I'm sure you'll learn quickly. You're smart, going off to school and all."
Luke smirked to himself when he saw no comeback. "And that's where I come in." He nodded. "Hopefully I'll be able to help you with the water." The more he watched the young ladies interact, the more he began to accept Jaione's staying here with them. And, the more he accepted that both the girls were adults. Fully grown women. He could hardly believe it.

"Pssh, not much of a school. Well, I mean, it was a school, and I learned stuff and everything, it just wasn't, like... a school-school," Jaione rambled, gesturing for the words to explain exactly what she was trying to say. She smiled a bit at Luke after he made his comment before tugging Vesna over toward the fire, so that they wouldn't have to stand and wouldn't be in the way. Curling up before the fire, she began her explanation for the second time.
"Okay, so, it was way out in the middle of the forest, for one. There were a lot of other cattaur there, and we all met in this little clearing... for a while. Like, the first three days, I think. Then, they sent us off on our own, where we were expected to not talk with each other or have any outside contact with the real world. That way, we would have to hunt for ourselves, cook for ourselves, and otherwise take care of ourselves, which would also help to hone our magic, as it would make a lot of that easier." She nodded a few times, tail flicking back and forth as she thought for a moment before smiling sheepishly. "It was kind of difficult, especially given the fact that I'm a bad cook."

Vesna listened intently to her friend, and laughed. "It's still better than a lot of others do. Actually going off to learn." Feeling a slight draft from somewhere, she pulled on a sweater that was laying on a nearby chair. "Well, Luke and I can teach you about cooking." She said, giving a determined nod.
Luke was cleaning the last dish from dinner when he saw a flash of color through the window, dish dropping from his hands into the sink as his face drained of color. Gods! Jaione's suprise drop-in had made him forget! His ears picked up the gentle singing of a lovely voice. How had he forgotten? Especially with the thoughts Jai had brought to his mind.
