Thali heard the thanks, and smiled. Lucien was polite, she liked that. "Lunch'll be done in a few," She told Josh, nodding at the suggestion of a game.
Josh took Luc's hand, leading him into his bedroom. He handed Luc a makeshift sword, and pulled out his own. "We'll be knights and protect the princess!" He pointed to a kitten. "She needs protecting! The dr'gons are going to try taking over the k'ngdom and hurt her!"

Lucien followed the darker-skinned boy into his room, his hand still raised to prod tentatively at his nose. He inwardly mused on what would have happened had he have fallen harder on his nose, and what the end results would have been. Would it have shattered into a million pieces, littering the floor with small, glass-like pieces of pale nostril? Would it have caved inwards, leaving him to be mocked and teased as the boy with an "innie" nose, rather than an "outie"? His head tilted to the left, Lucien jerked from his thoughts and sucked in a quick breath as the unexpected makeshift sword was handed to him. Laughing apologetically at having been caught daydreaming rather than paying attention to his friend (a rather common occurrence), Lucien waved the sword through the air and declared:
"I, knight Lucien, vow to protect the princess and our kingdom from dragons!"
He jabbed the sword forward and took a fighting stance, looking over his shoulder to grin at Joshua.

Joshua smiled at his friend in approval. "You'll make a good knight," He said. "But I don't see any dragons...." He climbed up onto his bed to see if he'd have a better view. "Where are they? They must have heard about you! I think they're hiding."
He paused, and looked around the room. A kitten was curled up on his bed, asleep. "The princess has been put under a spell!" He cried, leaping off of the bed and pointing at said kitten. "We have to find a way to cure her!" The kitten's soft purrs could be heard easily-- slightly oblivious to the fact that she was in an endless sleep.

Lucien made a soft "o" with his mouth before leaping forward and swinging his sword.
"Then find a cure we will!" He looked around the room quickly, searching for anything that could be used for said "cure". He smiled belatedly at Joshua's comment of him making a good knight before putting on a serious face. He looked over at Joshua with a frown, his sword pointed towards the endlessly sleeping kitten. "We must search the land for her cure, and quickly. We might not have long 'til she's asleep forever."

Josh grabbed a bag of glitter. "I found the cure!" He said, handing it to Lucien. Okay, so the glitter was meant for art projects, not saving endlessy sleeping kittens. That didn't seem to matter to the boy. "We'll sprinkle some on her, and she'll be well!"
Not the best plan, but it was the only think Joshua could think of.

Lucien took the glitter in his hands carefully with an excited smile.
"We have to be quiet, or else the dragon will hear us and blow fire at us and eat us." The raven-haired boy tip-toed forward quietly, his arms outstretched; all of a sudden Lucien let out a yell, tripping over himself once more and hurtling towards the ground, the bag of glitter slipping from his hands and into the air. Lucien covered his head with his hands as the room exploded with glitter, the bag falling with a thump beside his head.
"Oops."

Joshua couldn't help giggling. "That's one way to cure her." He said, as the kitten started to stretch. She yawned and blinked at the glitter lazily floating to the ground.
Josh smiled at his friend. "You healed her!" He said happily.

Lucien extended a palm and giggled as the glitter fell into his hands before turning towards Josh and blowing it towards him. The last of the glitter sprinkled gracefully to the ground completing the illusion of the fantasy world they were pretending to be in, against Josh's carpet. Lucien smiled proudly as the kitten stretched and yawned, his chest puffed and his arms crossing over his chest.
"I'm a knight, it's my job," he said with as much masculinity as he could muster, before smiling sheepishly. "But you helped."

Joshua giggled and nodded at Lucien. "You're the greatest knight there ever was!" He told his friend loyally. "Hey, want some cookies?" He sniffed the air, yes, there was certainly a smell of cookies. "And lunch!" Josh said, leading his friend out into the dining room. Sure enough, the table was set with two bowls of mac-n-cheese.

"Thank you, thank you."
Lucien took a sweeping bow and giggled under his breath, thoroughly enjoying the loyal praise. He followed his friend out of his bedroom with a vigorous nod, his stomach seizing the opportunity to growl loudly at the thought -- and smell, it seemed -- of food. He pulled himself onto the slightly too large chair with a strained expression, breathing heavily when he finally managed to get into a sitting position before grinning up at Joshua.
"Food!"

"Every knight needs lunch." Joshua said with a grin, taking his seat next to his friend. He took a bite. Cheese-bliss. His mom knew just how to make it--just the right amount of cheese.
"Mom, do I smell cookies?" He asked, looking over to the kitchen. Thali put a finger to her lips, and nodded. "Oh, so it's a surprise?" He grinned at her, glad to have foiled any surprise she'd had planned.
