Oh hells bells!

Azelle was lucky she had pushed herself as far against the wall as possible. While her movements were restricted she had avoided the worst of his assault and had just enough of a lunge to slide forward just a little. The result of this of course was that he once again nicked at her hooves. The weaker and thinner flesh made the pain considerably worse here than her flanks but she was part Kalona and wouldn't allow this to distract her. This in mind she wrinkled her nose and bore down upon the stallion, lifting her forehooves to clout at his nose and head.

Her wings flared out in an attempt to help her maintain her balance and the aim of her hooves was largely inaccurate due to the limited space available but she had sufficient time to at least aim a few times. Whether it hit or not remained to be seen but she had to do something to ward the stallion off. Even if he fell and didn't get up for a few moments that would be fine, it would give her enough time to jump and run - with enough speed she'd be able to become airborne and run home.

Oooh, but a part of her couldn't help but worry if the bugger had scarred her - if her glorious pelt had been scarred by that thing then she would be positively traumatised and that wouldn't do at all.

Again he tasted her sweet blood, though still just a touch. However Fregit was given no time to savor the taste for the stranger-mare had finally gathered the courage to fight back!

One hoof clouted his nose, leaving it sore but intact. The other did more damage, colliding solidly with his right ear, almost removing the organ from his body. It was almost a certainty that the ear would be less than useful in the future.

The kicks and gravity pulled the stallion back to earth, once more twisting to avoid any more broken bones than necessary. One or more of his ribs was certainly annoyed at this action, and his tail felt sprained or worse.

A maniacal laugh burst from his lips, sounding even stranger for his being a bit hoarse from all the talking he'd done. He looked up, watching the stranger-mare to see if she would press her advantage.

Fregit wished she would. He really wanted to just sink his fangs into her.

Oh she did, the moment she had seen him twist she knew that this would be her only chance. He was a crazed creature, she suspected he wasn't a soquili at all. Perhaps he was a beast that had adopted the Soquili form but his maniacal laughter was enough to confirm that he was one of those who had a will that surpassed his own body. She'd never really understood what that meant (if she was honest), but now as she saw the stallion land on his side and then laugh she knew. Half of her suspected that if she were to decaptitate the stallion then she would find his head would still be snapping on her heels for hours.

This didn't instill her with a lot of confidence.

Still, mustering up the rest of her courage she braced herself and lunged from her ledge. Wings still outspread they would cut cause a little bit of resistance until she was at the appropriate speed to launch but frankly...she didn't care. If she'd waited long enough to furl her wings again he might have had time to recover. Instead she'd moved in an instant and as a consequence had landed just after he had begun to recover.

Without turning round to taunt the stallion further though, she had already charged away and had left quite a number of blood spatters in her wake. He could pursue her if he wanted but given his injuries against her own, he was at the disadvantage. Still, she wasn't one to turn around and check for fear that this would slow her down and instead she kept running until she could at last feel the tug on her wings and could leap cleanly into the air.

That being said the wind chill did nothing to help the pain searing through her legs. Why was it always the tiny cuts that hurt more?!

Why...what was this? The stranger-mare was running away? Hmph. Fregit was disappointed. Just when he'd thought they'd really be able to have some fun...she had to ruin it, just like that.

He was surprised that she didn't turn and waste more words on him. Had she learned something? Or...maybe that wasn't it. Fregit's tongue flickered out to taste the air. Perhaps...perhaps she was just a bit afraid of him. The stallion bared his fangs in a smile. Perhaps he would indeed have to consider adding her to his treasure in the future. She was a fighter, yes, but not enough of one to be a real threat.

The feathered Soquili pulled himself up carefully, noting all the injuries the stranger-mare had caused, most of all the ones that would scar. Such as his ear. Fregit tried to move it, just to see what would happen, and jerked his head around as a rush of white-hot pain was the response.

Excellent. He would remember her. He would return for her. After he found his precious.

All thoughts of the stranger-mare fled his mind as Fregit returned to his search, snuffling around in the bloody snow for the old trail.
