At one point in that video I could see you standing over two guys and one seemed to be trying to rip the other's head off via punches.

Rules of Combat for tourney fight have 2 sets. "Hits" and "Knockdown"

If you land 3 strikes on the body, or one strike on the head with a weapon, you win the fight.

OR

You must knock the guy down and hit him once with your weapon or punch him 3 times with your gauntlet.

I started doing this while living in Indiana... when I went back to Massachusetts I joined another group that was affiliated with this fighting style.

I have since retired due to tendinitis in both legs.

All I know is that my kids will not be going to public school. I'm not very fond of homeschooling because I don't think the social interaction is strong enough for young children. I also don't like private schools because I don't think my children should be made to pray or be taught about religion in school. I know not all of them are religious, but a majority of private schools are. Maybe I'll just have to weigh the pros and cons when my kids get here.

...a lot of people tell me I look like Drew Barrymore. I don't see it.

Take David Schwimmer and Sacha Baron Cohen, blend, and make the mix teenaged. Viola. You have your Behatz.

Mine is, but that's because it was based on an old Methodist college. However, have you considered that your children would gain from the experience, and learn about religions that they had little knowledge about. I know that my school has taught me that my Judaism is a sacred and valuable thing, as I'm able to share my views as a Jew in class, and compare it with Christian views. It's broadened the views of myself and others around me. Also, the education is top-knotch. Nearly 100% of the top 5000 schools in Britain are private.

I have never been made to pray to Jesus, or anyhting of the sort. I once got a detention for not singing hymns in chapel, but my dad threatened to get in touch with the newspapers if they tried to punish me for not practicing Christianity.

This was the conversation between me and my teacher, just for giggles:
"Why weren't you singing?"
"Bec-"
"I don't want to hear excuses!"
*I rub my forehead* (she was giving me a stress-induced headache)
"Don't you go rubbing your forehead at me! *mocks my forehead-rubbing* OOohh, it hurts so much, OOoh!"
"I don't sing in chapel because I'm Jewish!"
"So? I'm Anglican and I still sing."
stressed stressed stressed
I worry about these people. Still, she left for service in Iraq a week laer so that's okay.

Well I do understand learning about different religions and broadening other people's perspective, that's what it was like when I was in high school. I dunno though, I feel like there is a specific time for prayer and religious education that should not be muddled in with academic education. Then again maybe it's just my dad's voice in the back of my head shouting about the separation of church and state. He attended Catholic school when he lived in Britain and I'm sure that's where his passion stems from...

British Catholic schools are... different.

Well I went to military school for my Middle School and High School experience.

and I LOVED IT!

and no... I'm not military, my eyes don't work good enough.

But at least I came out of high school with some sort of "discipline and work ethic" before I lost my mind.

I've experienced the thought of going into the military, in the Intelligence Corps. But I'm a pacafist by nature, so I decided I'd be helping the violence continue and so swapped to psychology. I suppose I could interrogate PsOW...

The only country whose army I would be happy to serve is Israel.

I had never thought of military school, but still...probably not the best. One of the only things my kids could do that would disappoint me is enlist. I do respect the stable environment that the military provides for young people who would otherwise have nothing. Also, like Neuf said, I respect the discipline it gives. I've just had bad experiences with the military and I feel that in our country it's given entirely too much power.

My stigma against public school stems from my own days in high school. I dropped out after my Sophmore year and it was probably the best decision I have ever made. I've learned more in the past 2 years than I ever would in high school (not that I was there all that much). The caliber of people they employed at my high school was very low and I attended one of the best public schools in the state. Supposedly.

So what bad experience do you have?

Just remember, even if you do not support the war, it does not mean you're cheering for the other side.

My cousin joined the National Guard instead of graduating from high school. He did 2 tours in Iraq before his 19th birthday. Nuff said.
