"Well, some of them have a tail like a cats you know." It was something she really had not expected to see. She had just assumed that all unicorns would have manes and tails like all the ones in her family. "And she was also blue..." Her brow creased thinking about it. In a family of whites, yellows and browns a blue horse just seemed even stranger.

There wasn't a lot of time to think about it before her sister began to walk around her. She watched her movements as much as she could without turning her head and found her face heating up slightly. What kind of question was that? All things considered it was probably a normal thing to ask, it just seemed strange to the one who hadn't ever thought about getting herself a boy.

"I..." She sputtered out slightly before coughing a bit. "I don't have one and I'm not really looking. Houjin and I want to separate things I'm sure..." Truthfully she did not know what her brother wanted but it involved a girlfriend and she most certainly did not want one of those. "And you...you are looking for someone like brother has too perhaps?"

Jingfei was amused at her sister's discomfort. It wasn't that she wanted her sister to feel strange, but her overall expression surprised her completely! But alas, Jia didn't have a boyfriend? "Well sometimes you don't need to look! And you know, I was only asking out of interest. Mom and dad obviously took a chance in their youth, and now with Huojin I am trying to keep my own eyes and heart open." She lowered her eyes then and felt sort of silly. Was it weird to do that sort of thing? Sometimes she just couldn't tell.

"I'm not really looking either, truthfully." she then admitted while smiling back towards her sister. "I'm.. intrigued by all of Huojin's stories. He's seriously in love. I couldn't imagine what that feels like, you know?" Of all creatures she could never imagine her own brother that way! And sometimes, she wondered if even she could fall in love too.

"Life is crazy, we all have so much to do an experience. Sometimes I don't even know where to start." she gazed her eyes to the outside of the cave and watched as the wind sped by. "But you know, its kind of amazing when you think about it." After she was done being sort of spiritual, she gave her sister a goofy grin and nudged her gently. "Well, when you DO get a boyfriend, make sure to tell me right away, ok?!"

Her sister was right in probably every point on the matter. It was true, one really didn't need to look to find love. It was also true about their mom and dad taking a chance and it was probably a good idea to keep her eyes and heart open. There was also a good chance that it would not hurt to spend time with boys outside of her actual family. She sighed a little and tilted her head slightly to the side.

"It is good that he's in love...but you know it may not be everything." She wasn't entirely sure what she was saying. It was like she was trying to comfort herself in some way by saying this to her sister. "I can't imagine it either...it just seems a bit strange."

Life was indeed crazy. Jia Li's eyes drifted towards the rocky cave ceiling as her sister continued her musings. It was rather calming to hear her sister speaking in such a way. It reminded her a bit of when they were younger. She couldn't help but laugh at the sudden change that seemed to come over her sister. Nudging her back she smiled. "I will of course, and when you find one before I do make sure you tell me." Her words were mostly playful teasing but there was some truth in them. She imagined that her sister would find love long before she did.

Truth be told Jingfei and her sister were still young to the world. Soon they would meet stallions from all over bearing all sorts of names. The only reason they were so unused to the idea of finding affection was because they had not experienced it. Love came in all sorts of forms and emotions, and Jingfei knew with time she and her sister would experience some kind or another. "For now I suppose the best thing we can do is be patient. We've got a lot of time to worry about these sorts of issues!" Wasn't that the truth!

"And of course I would tell you." she then said, with a light giggle. Jingfei didn't find it possible to hide anything from her sister. They'd always shared their thoughts and memories, so she'd without a doubt share the same kind of information when the time came.

When she brought her eyes to the outside of the cave, she felt a sigh of relief since the wind had subsided and landscape appeared brighter. "Oh, I think whatever was blowing through has passed this area." She then took a few steps forward to examine the situation for herself. "Now we can take a stroll without any fear or weather!" Plus, the cave was looking awfully dark compared to the now sunny sky. "Shall we head out?"

She smiled and laughed gently. Her sister was so very right. No point worrying about it like love was a now or never thing. Eventually she would find someone, or she wouldn't. There was no harm in either, right? "Of course. We have all the time we really want now don't we?" Now that they were out on there own this held more truth then ever. How their time was spent was entirely up to them now. There was so much freedom that at times Jia Li did not know what to do with it.

Right now the choice was obvious. She would spend her time chatting with her sister and she would love every second of it. She followed her sister to the edge of the cave and looked outside. It took her eyes a moment to adjust to the light but when they did she sighed a happy sigh. Winter storms were so unpredictable it was amazing. "The weather has favoured us today, we should do something nice for it before we part ways." While she did not expect to be on her way for quite a while she felt it would be best to say something now in case she forgot.

"Let's go, maybe we will find some truly strange creature out and about to study!" The thought excited her a bit. The chance to see something new always did. Without waiting another minute inside their temporary shelter she stepped out into the light. The air was still chilly with winter's breath but the sun warmed her coat nicely. "Where to Jingfei?"

Ha! If she and Jia wanted they could go search for boys at this very moment. It seemed like that was something sisters would do. But then again, she and Jia were a bit more refined then other soquili. Their parents would probably hate that idea. Jingfei had great respect for her elders and she knew to never betray them with embarrassing actions. "There's bound to be interesting creatures out today. So why don't we just head along this trail in front of us and hope that something appears?" Now that the weather was nice again, Jingfei and her sister could at least enjoy the time together in the sunlight.

"Hanging out like this is much better then in the cave." she then admitted as they walked along a narrow trail. "I realize how lucky I am to be running into you like this. Though I sort of wonder what Jirani is up to. Hopefully he is as well as we are." She hadn't seen her brother for quite some time, and she figured he was probably with Shen as traveling companions. She prayed every day that he was well just like she did for the others.

When she brought her eyes ahead of her again, she looked upward to see a large eagle flying overhead. She quietly admired the bird's strength and colors and hoped he was on a pleasant voyage now that the weather was nice again. "Look at that beautiful eagle! It must be nice to fly." Though, at the same time, she'd probably be scared to!

"That sounds like a splendid idea." She said letting her eyes follow the path that she would soon be walking. It was a nice enough trail. Even though it was now surrounded by sleeping winter trees it did not worry her. The storm had passed and the sun was out, there was nothing to fear really.

"Well, the cave was a bit creepy after all." She wouldn't really admit to being scared but the cold stone surroundings had been a bit unnerving. "Jirani..." Her voice trailed off at the mention of the name. How was her young brother? How were any of her brothers for that matter? It had been quite a while since she had seen them last. "I imagine they are doing well. If they weren't we surely would have heard something by now, right?" As much as she wanted to believe her own words she wasn't sure that they were true. They had all been split up, she was not sure how they could be found to tell of some trouble. She would have to seek out the rest of her family later to make sure that they were in good health.

Until then...

Her eyes followed her sisters to the sky and to the mighty bird. How strong he must be to fly and how graceful he was at the same time. "Nice...and very useful I'd imagine." She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly allowing her eyes to slip shut. For just a brief moment she imagined how the wind would feel rushing over her and how the ground would look from the sky. Without opening her eyes she spoke, "If we could fly...it would be easier to see each other...but then...we would not feel so close to the earth I think." She opened her eyes and turned to look at her sister to hear her thoughts on the matter.

"Yes, unfortunately bad news travels fast." she shuddered somewhat and hated to imagine it that way. Sometimes it was better to be realistic than too hopeful, even if being hopeful felt like the better option. "But, no news is sometimes good news. Now that we are all older I suppose we must take whatever news we can get, and hope to run into each other every now and then. Just like how we are now." she snuggled against her sister lightly before grinning and being pleased with that fact.

When she heard her sister speak about flying, she realized how thankful she should have been to all of the land-creatures around her. They kept her plenty entertained and excited, and there was always a ton to see. "I could imagine you being very good at flying. Whereas I would be quite the mess." she shrugged then and giggled at the thought. "I'm sure when the weather becomes nicer it will be easier to search for everybody as well. It's too much of a drag to go out in the cold and venture with small chances of finding someone."

But, when the spring and summer seasons did finally arrive again Jingfei would take advantage of all sorts of things. She liked considering all of the places that existed, and hopefully one day she would make her way to the mountains or ocean like she'd always hoped.

Her brief thought was interrupted as she noticed a small clearing ahead of them. "Oh, it looks like a change of scenery!" Maybe there would be stream or something in the clearing? "Let's head towards it!" If there was a stream, hopefully it wouldn't be frozen..

Her? Good at flying? She laughed a bit at the thought. "No I imagine I would be quite awkward on the winds. I would be far to interested on seeing everything below me to pay much attention to where I was heading you see?" The thought of them flying did somewhat please her but when it came down to it she much preferred the land. The skies would only serve to give her a better look at the rare things she wished to see down on the ground.

"Is that how you think Jingfei?" She asked with a teasing smile giving her sister a little playful nudge. "That it is simply too cold to go out to look for someone?" It made plenty of sense to her why this would be true. She was not one to let the weather keep her down for too long however. Even in the snowy months she moved from place to place moving about in the sheltered areas when large storms threatened and in the open when the sun was out. It served her well enough but it did make a bit more sense to stay in one place to avoid the seasons wrath.

She was drawn out of her thoughts by her sister's voice. Dead ahead of them was an empty patch where the sun shone down uninterrupted by the naked branches of the trees. "Oh it looks nice." With a smile to her sister she made her way out of the shade of the trees and into the sun to get a better look around. Like everything in winter and was hard and brown with a few still unmelted patches of snow lying about. She could hear water moving somewhere nearby but could not see it from where she was standing.

"This place will be quite beautiful when the warmth of the next season comes." She said leaning down to examine a leafless bush.

Jingfei wasn't sure how she felt! But, she did know one thing. Winter needed to get out and let Spring come along. Everything looked so sad and dreary when the Winter was around. And that sort of setting was not a healthy one for any creatures! "In truth I'd probably want a stallion to see me at my best. And right now, my skin is fair and dreary, and my hair is tangled and dry." she sighed somewhat and nipped at a dead-flower that laid on her neck. "Mother always taught us to look our best... and I'm hardly keeping up!" But it wasn't her fault that her hair was so darn long. Either way, she was still hopeful and cheerful. Spring would come along any day now, and she'd be ready for the change.

She had to agree with her sister about the grove they had stumbled upon. Soon it would be quite lovely and beautiful, and Jingfei was considering keeping the trail in her memory so that she could return to it someday. "We could mark this place as important." she then said, while glancing at her sister playfully. "This can be a secret area, one that could work as a meeting spot! And we could share it with other family members if we wanted." The idea seemed to make sense!

Jingfei gazed her eyes upward and noticed how lovely the area would look if the sun was beaming in. If her sister wanted, they could totally remember such a place. It was easy to find and somehow private-like. "It's hard to find each other these days, but with a spot like this it might be easier!" Well, Jingfei wanted to believe that. But if she or Jia waited around such a place long enough then the other would surely arrive someday! She realized that as a family they had never developed a home-front, so maybe using the grove as one would work somehow?

She pursed her lips and looked her sister over once. Jingfei had quite the point. The winter had taken quite a bit out of them both. Her eyes wandered over her sister's tangled mane and tail before roaming down to what she could see of herself. Mud had dried to the end of her tail and flecked itself halfway up her legs. She had one advantage over her sister though, her hair was bound into place. There were few tangles in it as a result.

"Well I imagine any stallion would have to see us in the winter anyway. I can't imagine that you would go into hiding for a whole season just to avoid being seen. And when your worst looks this good I can't imagine they would complain." While she said this just to hopefully cheer her sister up there was truth in it. That truth meant there was hope for Jia Li, as a traveler she didn't really get too much time to tend to her appearance but she did what she could.

As the conversation shifted a somewhat dreamy look washed over the dark maned mare. "A secret place huh..." She really liked the sound of that. "And we could decorate it with the spring flowers so our brothers and parents would always know it." She smiled fondly at the thought. A place to look for the others would be just perfect. She could see it now, in the spring and summer, the colorful flowers, the warm sun coming through and their family together again.

A sudden thought came to her and she turned quickly to look at the bushes. "We could leave gifts for each other!" She whispered excitedly thinking the bushes to be a perfect hiding place. "Each of us would have a different bush marked in some way...that way you could always know where I have gone even if we can not see each other."

Jingfei wanted to sob at her sister's kindness. In truth she wasn't obsessed with her looks, but she knew their mother had taught them to look their best at all times. And, since she wasn't feeling her best, she knew that was problematic in general. She felt her heart lighten up a bit as she savored her sister's complement, and would always keep that in her heart if she felt sad or burdened by the whole idea. "Thank you, Jia. You have no idea how that makes me feel." And, she was already feeling better on the issue! That was seriously a relief.

Jingfei quieted herself as her sister spoke of many ideas. One of them was absolutely brilliant, and with wide eyes she stared towards her sister with utter delight. "Jia, that is the BEST idea ever!" Just thinking about all of the treasures and surprises they could leave for each other was honestly an amazing idea! "We have to do that, no matter what!" She bounced lightly at the thought and moved her eyes over to the prospective bushes around them. Oooh, which one would be hers!

Luckily for them there was an abundance of bushes, and there were plenty to go around. Jingfei wiggled her nose as she examined them all, and when she was satisfied she could only announce, "Ok, I choose this one!" And alas, she had chosen a dainty looking one that lingered off to the right. "If it were nicer today I would have put flowers on all of them!" But sadly, no flowers were around. "Do you think mom and dad will like this idea?" she could imagine they would, but sometimes Jingfei just didn't know! "Well, whoever wants to participate can participate. As for me.. finding your gifts will be most important!" she nodded then and knew that would keep her entertained and pleased.

She found herself grinning as her sister not only matched her excitement but greatly surpassed it. It was very pleasing to know that she had come up with such an idea. Her eyes followed Jingfei's movement until she selected a bush to call her own. It was then that Jia Li moved to nose one off to the left of her sister. "Then I'll take this one. We have to stick together you know?" She winked and then took a moment to get a better look at the place she had chosen. It was strangely shaped and looked a little rough but she liked it well enough.

"I think, some flowers are definitely in order once they bloom." Nodding once she turned to look back at her sister. "I really hope they will. Even if it was just something between the two of us I would still leave gifts and come back to see what you have found for me...but I would prefer it if everyone would join in."

It couldn't be said for sure if anyone else would chose to take part in this gift giving place. Their brothers, mother and father were all probably busy with their own things. "Do you think...we should leave something hear to mark this place? So if they do want to come they'll recognize it?" Her eyes wandered over her sister and settled on one of her flowers. It was something that the whole family would know but other's wouldn't. It would work well and she could always get a new flower for her when the spring came. "Or...should we lead them here when we find them next?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:47 pm

She was very preoccupied with her sister's question, and she scurried around in a circle while looking for some sort of marking tool. The awful thing about winter was that nothing really existed besides snow and ice! And, even if they left an imprint somewhere, the snow or ice could melt when the sun allowed it! "Well, unfortunately we may not be able to mark this area until more sprouts and plants arrive." she sighed then but then brightened up at her sister's other idea.

"Leading them here would work! As long as you and I have the area by heart, I don't think we will have a problem. Plus, that in itself is an excuse to hang out with them." she then lowered her eyes towards their chosen bushes and laughed very quietly. "This really was a great idea, Jia. Now I am more excited for spring to arrive so we can decorate this place up!" But, until then, she and her sister had to stay warm and await for the first signs of spring or summer.

"I should set out to find Huojin so I can tell him about this place. I tend to find him easily so I will pass the word along and make a journey towards him when we both decide to part for the day." she bobbed her head delightedly and knew that Huojin would definitely tell Shen. "We will all communicate to each other somehow!" That was definitely the nice thing about siblings.

"Well we could use a twig." She said jokingly a little smile tugging at her lips. As usual her sister was right. There wasn't much of anything they could use. Everything right now was either brown or would melt and would not help anyone find the place. The only thing that might work would be leaving something that they used to decorate themselves. Really she didn't want to leave anything of hers behind and she couldn't imagine Jingfei did either.

"Then, I suppose I should set out to track down mom...and probably dad too." There was a good chance that their parents would be together. Where exactly they were she didn't quite know but a little searching wouldn't kill her. Which would live Shen and Jirani. Shen would likely hear from Houjin knowing those two, but who would tell the youngest brother?

She pursed her lips together. "Do you know where Jirani sticks to?" She asked deciding that she would try to find him as well. She didn't have anything more important to do then look for her family. In fact really the only other thing she would have to do would be to look for an interesting creature to tell her sister about.
