*applauds* oh, thank you thank you thank you! envy-san the new rules should help keep things in line a little more. people, please, i have to concur with aru and envy on this one... my friends, we won't bite...if anything, those of us who have made role-playing a way of life would love to share our passion with those of you who are perhaps a little...less versed in such things? para role-play is not for the faint of heart...it takes time and dedication a lot of people don't seem to think is justified for something like RP, but if you can't keep up, then--forgive me--get the hell out of our amestris. if you can't pay attention to what is going on around you, then you really have no business calling yourself a roleplayer. that is the essence of roleplay, is it not? to absorb the character you have chosen/created and become that character. if you can't be dedicated enough to your character to have your character pay attention to their surroundings...you have no right to be that character.
and aru makes an excellent point that hagaren is a very realistic universe. people get hurt, people get sick, people die... they weep, they grieve, they make mistakes, and that is the beauty of the hagaren story. that is what makes the characters and storyline so passionate and enveloping, is that it's easy for people to relate and empathize with the characters. they're very real, they're very tangible, and when you make an OC for an RP, you need to make that character as real and human as ed, roy, winry, and everyone else. you need to give them faults, give them weaknesses. so far, almost all of your characters have been ed clones. automail, state alchemists at an abnormally green age, a past tied to either ed or roy with no particular apparent reason or explanation...
they're too perfect, kiddies! nobody has any problems! no one has any troubles, or angsty past lives to feed from. that's no fun! we all say we strive for perfection, but in the end, that's no fun at all. someone with no flaws has no weaknesses, has nothing to improve upon, has no downfalls, and is therefore not very interesting. didn't you ever have that one kid in school with you who was just good at everything they did? and didn't you hate them for it?
give them some flaws, for cryin out loud! give your character an inferiority complex... give him or her a lisp, a trick knee, a bad shoulder...anything to make them stand out. identify them. mold them. don't make a copy of ed and just give it a gender change or a new hairdo... make them imperfect. make them realize something life-altering... make them, then break them; let there be something wrong with him or her and have the others see it when he or she can't. have them have an epiphany just in the knick of time--or don't! make your character mess up...have them fail...and have them become a better person for it. the best characters are those who don't always come out on top... so make him or her an underdog... make him or her a spoiled brat from a wealthy family... make them homely or plain...or simple and naive... but don't make them perfect. nobody likes a perfect in the end. the characters we love most are those who overcome their hardships and triumph in the face of adversity...not the ones who never had to fight to win... right?
and for goodness's sake, be interesting... if you're going to hang all over ed, roy, or your bishounen/bishoujou of choice, at least have something interesting to go along with it. don't hog the canons without something to go with it. if you can't do something interesting, don't do anything at all! put forth a little more effort, my friends! if you can come up with a character, then fine for you, but if you can't back that character up with a good past history and a strong individual personality, then you haven't really created anything at all.
as a veteran fanfic writer, i know very well the troubles that come with creating an OC... if you don't have the right ingredients, and you don't add them at just the right time, your character will flop like bad merengue, and nobody likes flat pie. if you need help, ask for it. there's no excuse for bad RP from good imaginations.

they are called the 7 sins for a reason... xd
either call one that exists.... or forget about it.....
also, homunculus are not invincible, tho they seem to be......
you would know their weakness if you knew the show.... sooo, since im not going to spoil it for you..... you will have to go hunt it out yourselves....
i also bring up these new rules:
THERE ARE TO BE NO MORE AUTOMAIL IN THE RP UNLESS YOU HAVE A REASONABLE STORY--> NO HUMAN TRANSMUTATIONS.....
PM me.... Envy-san... with your story of how you got he automail....... if i find the story reasonable..... i will ok it.....
and...
YOU CANT BE A STATE ALCHEMIST WITHOUT BEING 20 OR OLDER
why? because it jsut doesnt happen..... in real life, or in fma....

Ah, but might I point out that there are we a few 'sins' short of seven at the end of the TV series?
We have Gluttony and Envy that are still alive... or their fates are unclear... and Greed, Sloth, Pride, and Lust are all quite dead.
Who can fill these slots, vacated by those who fell four years in the past?
There is potential here, for there are homunculi who have been created (at least one - the one that Light_Ashtoreth's family created during their failled human transmutation - unless that was deeme null and void for some reason I am unaware of) so that could be taken and given one of the titles. Of course, who would do this? What person has this power? (Well, who is not already at the bottom of Gluttony's stomach, that is...)
If you can explain all of this, then perhaps YOU TOO CAN BE A HOMUNCULUS!
(Unless Envy-san decides that I need to be munched before then for mentioning this... sweatdrop )

But in order to fill the great shoes left behind...you would have to put in a level of thought to your character that goes above and beyond most of what has been presented.

I agree...we are a few sins short of our seven... Wrath is still alive at the end of the series, too, though he went missing... But in order to fill the great shoes left behind...you would have to put in a level of thought to your character that goes above and beyond most of what has been presented.

I don't want this to be directed to anyone in particular, as there are several of the members who have now done this. It's quite unnerving trying to RP a continual story line that starts at point A and is headed toward point B if people randomly time warp.
For anyone who does not know who time warping is, it's where you randomly make your character appear in the middle of a scene between two or more characters when they're in the middle of something and have been for a few posts and did not state that you were there prior to the scene starting.
I don't mean to sound rude if I do, it's just that for the integrity of the RP for this guild, I would like to stress the importance of reading what is going on and responding properly. I would like to see the RP for this guild be meaningful, fun and enjoyable for everyone. However, if time warping occurs it's rather hard for someone who is trying to catch up or just read the RP to follow.
The people reading it wind up having to re read it several times to make sure they didn't miss where you entered or something due to the lack of continuity.
Now that I've spoken my mind, I will leave it up to you to help keep the RP sounding good!

Anyone feel up to posting a sort of nutshell timeline of the RP story? Or at least the direction it's going in... not even the details of relationships... just the main plot?
I'm trying to figure how I can enter with an "evil" character (probably an OC)

riza brought up a good point in the RP....
THERE ARE TO BE NO MORE OC IN THE RP. If you have a problem with this, plan with a couple others and set up a new *not official* RP.....
or-- use one of the existing characters.... 3nodding

and tru, to be honest, i am rather intrigued by your character. you seem to have your act together, so you were never one i had any twinges about. i look forward to seeing what you can develop with envy... ^_^
