I went ahead and bought 100 lava-themed 25mm bases for the eventual infantry of this army from here. I was amazed by this site, you can order very scenic, and very cheap bases; shipping and such all told, my order only cost me about $0.40 a base.

if you are proficient with an airbrush and a modeling knife, you could try cutting out a flame template in paper, it would probably help with the flames that you would have to spend alot of time on with vehicles. just slap on the template and spray on a layer or two?

That could work for doing it quickly, though I'm more interested in making this a showcase army; that, and I have no experience, equipment, or room to use airbrushing.

I never thought much of airbrushes for these models, seems like a wasted excercise.. I'd rather paint my tanks the way I always have, dabbling on paint with a massive brush to get the messiest and randomest camo patterns I can biggrin
Hmm, any chance of a test photo for now? [Or when you can]

I honestly don't have the supplies or time to test out airbrushing, sorry. sweatdrop I -did- however just integrate the two cannons I got from Commissar Hark, originally for a Wave Serpent, and applied them to the Warwalker gunmounts. Enjoy!

Hooyah, my 25mm lava bases came in, and I must say that I -highly- recommend Dark Art Miniatures now. All 100 showed up, no warping, few and minor defects (a couple tiny bubbles), the detailing is good, the resin is clean and uniform in color, the shipping is cheap, and the price for the pieces themselves is very reasonable.

The afore-mentioned bases. Gotta basecoat these things by hand, don't have any primer on me.

A tankbrush is what you need then.

Indeed, I'd have ordered a can except it'd likely be sent back; the schoolhouse is picky about what they'll accept if it's not certified (and I doubt GW has options on having it sent as such).
