Whimpering apologies and strings of mutterings that quite probably had nothing to do with what had really happened, for she honestly had no idea aside from the fact that she was soaked and had probably done something because of that. What had she done to be born into a life like this? Was some past self mocking her? An enemy from the shadows? Continuous streams of tears ran from her sightless eyes and she shivered at his cursing. What could she do now?
Taking an uneven step backwards, she tried to back away and only induced more trouble. She slipped on her puddle of water and knocked her head against the desk. Slowly, but surely, her back feet began slipping off and then she was holding on with her front paws. And well... then she wasn't holding on at all. Rather she was falling. She was awfully clumsy for a blind little thing!

Alter glared at her, contempt in his eyes. It had ruined his plan. His perfect plan... Gone. Because it was too damn clumsy to drink from a dish of water. He'd hate to see it when it grew and had to drink from a cup. Scowling, he turned around to wait for Emre, when he heard it scrambling to get back on the desk. Whirling around, he stared. It's panicked movements, it's struggles.. They reminded him of his own, when his father was around and would batter him around. His eyes wide, he, without really thinking, lunged forward to grab her.

Even though she couldn't see, she scrunched her eyes up tight and waited for the impact. It would hurt, she suspected, but it couldn't be too bad. There was already such pain and that sense of something missing in her tiny pup heart, a few bruises and head concussions wouldn't kill her. Maybe one too many might, but death was foreign. Just like the world around her. All she knew was violence and uncaring antipathy.
What caught her wasn't antipathy but a certain angry Audio. For the first time, as more of a reaction than anything else, she opened her eyelids and foggy eyes stared ahead. She was blind, she knew that, but having been caught, she experienced such shock that even she couldn't resist from opening eyes, as if attempting to see what she couldn't. Making no more sounds, her paws clung to him, almost begging him not to drop her. Now that he had her, she was more afraid he might throw her. Had she been saved just to be hurt worse? She wasn't sure. Her breath caught as she waited, young, small, and fragile.

His actions had stunned himself. This wasn't like him, he had no empathy, except where Emre was concerned. He'd grown up bitter and angry, and had no room for anything else. To save a small, rather annoying, pup was way out of character for him.
"Uh.. Um.. er.." he stammered, staring down at it.
Emre came back then, and it was a good thing he did. He didn't look surprised to see the pair though. Maybe Emre knew Alter better than he knew himself.
Padding over to the Audios, he set the towel down at their feet.

The stammering was as good an indication as any that he was not going to throw her. Not yet anyway. "S-sorry..." It was almost as if she didn't know any other word but sorry. As if she could do nothing but apologize. Everything wrong with the world was her fault. She couldn't see it. She couldn't stop it. But somehow, she caused it. The world would shatter around her daily and her tiny self would shiver, wishing it to end. Wishing it to stop.
But it never stopped. It was always raining outside. And her heart was always in pain. Sympathy turned to pity, never love. She was small, but distant memories came to her. She knew nothing, instead she could feel what was right and wrong. What was correct and what was not. In her mind the feelings formed tastes in her mouth, but she had not the vocabulary to speak them, nor to think them. All she knew was the song that played in her head constantly, almost as if it was reminding her she was worthless.
"Sorry... I'm sorry..." she repeated, shivering.

Her stammering apologies where starting to annoy him. "Its okay, damnit," he muttered as he set her down on something dry and took the towel from Emre. A frown on his face he started to dry her off. Apparently Emre thought he was being too rough, and barked. Scowling down at the fox, he sighed and was more gentle.

Scrunching up her nose at the towel he was touching her with, she lifted a paw to protest, more of a reaction than a thought out move, before she realized she was dripping a little bit less after this thing washed over her. Ducking down a little, she gave in to the drying and then shook a little, still as sad-looking as ever. If she knew what smiling was, she might have attempted one, but she did not. And so she could only look up in the direction she presumed the other was in, "Thank you." Her murmur was soft and small, nervous at being yelled at but having already noticed that despite his anger, he wasn't going to hurt her. Especially not with the other little one around.

He ignored its thanks and continued to dry it. "There," he muttered when he finished. "Now, Accident-Waiting-To-Happen, what's your name?" He didn't like thinking of it as "it". His father had called him it for years, and he hated it. Nothing like a little dehumanization to complete your day.
He flopped the towel across its back, watching it.

Name. Still shaking a little, she contemplated the word. She had one of those, didn't she? Somewhere in her head she had it heard it turned on herself. It had been repeated over and over in such a sweet affectionate voice, the kind that made her heart hurt all over again. What was the name that lay awash in her memories? The name she had never yet been called aloud, but knew.
"A..." she started, tilting her head confused, "Am...Amelia." Amelia. Was that her name? It sounded like it. It was familiar, caressing, and painful. A part of her didn't like it and wanted a new one, but the other half of her knew she could never escape the fate that was her name.

"Amelia," he repeated, frowning a little. It reminded him of his sister's name, Aella. This little pup was nothing like his sister, though. Aella was.. Well she was, essentially, a slutty b***h. This thing was small, trembly, and couldn't stand on her own feet without falling over.
That would have been all he said, if Emre hadn't given him that look. Rolling his eyes, he told her his name. "I'm Alter. And that thing is Emre," he muttered.

Talking. Chatting. Conversations. An exchange of words, of expressions, of names, feelings and emotions. Likes, dislikes, memories, tears and happiness. Amelia felt all and none of these at once, her head pounded with the very idea. Alter. Emre. The thing was Emre, and the other one, the bigger one, he was Alter. Gently, ever so slowly, she reached out her paw, as if asking for both of theirs. Not a handshake essentially, but to try and feel. To try and pay attention to something outside her bubble for once. She was blind, clumsy, and alone. It couldn't hurt, could it?
Something told her it could. That it was painful. Her paw shot back, quivering, as if she'd been burned. Painful? Knowing someone's name was painful? It would hurt her heart more? That was a frightening thought. After a few moments, the little one battled between curiosity and fear. In the end, curiosity won, as it always does, and she reached her paw out again.
"Emre..." she whispered, "And Alter."

He rose an eyebrow as she lifted up her paw and withdrew it, only to put it out there again. "Yes, Alter..." he mumbled, staring at her little stitched paw. What was with this pup? Why.. did she bring back so many haunted memories of his own past? He didn't need this s**t. He'd already done it once. Didn't need to again.
After a moment, a brief moment of staring, he reached out and took her paw gently, not really sure what he was doing, really.

Placing her paw in his hand, she tilted her head slightly. His hand was much bigger than she was, she could feel that much. She had never felt someone else's hand before and was curious as to why it felt different. He wasn't unkind, though she knew he had every right to be. Through it she was trying to understand someone else, though why she herself didn't even know. Tiny and afraid, she eventually pulled away and shrank back. It ocurred to her that, not only had she ruined something important to him, but she was wasting his time with her nonsense. People often disliked her for such things, in fact, that was mainly why she was always alone.
Whimpering slightly, she curled up on herself and wondered why the whole world was such a mess. Why her whole world was a mess.

Alter set his own hand back own by his side, staring at the little pup. He really wasn't sure what to do with it...er, her? At least.. He thought it was a her. Amelia sounded like a female name... Sighing, he just looked down at her. He should get back to his planning. After all, no one else was going to do anything about his so-called father. His other father was in love with the psycho, and Maxx, the guy who raised him and his sister didn't give a s**t about Cain, alive or dead. He needed to get back to his plan... But she looked so sad. He knew that look. He'd worn it for years. And she.. she didn't have an Emre like he did.
