Persona looked anxiously as Skolir described to him how to fish. He was very excited to jump into the water himself. Skolir pulled out a fish of the water and Persona licked his lips. "This will be fun" He said as he slowly got into the water, getting used to the current. He had a bit of trouble getting into position but once he was ready he kept his glare straight into the water. Little fish would pass by but he wanted a really big one, "There aren't any big ones coming by..."

"Heh, perhaps because you cast a smaller shadow, you attract smaller fish" suggested Skolir. "I can't be sure, but the best advice I can give is to be patient. You'll get better very soon, and who knows, perhaps in a minute an even bigger fish than even I caught will swim up to you. I'm just glad, and honestly impressed as well, that you already have the stregnth to not only withstand the currents, but also stay perfectly still!"

Persona kept his eyes to the water, just incase a big fish would pass by. He felt quite proud that Skolir was impressed and grinned. He boasted a little bit, "I guess I was born to fish." But as he spoke a big fish swam right underneath and as he struggled to get it he flipped upsidedown. He went downstream a bit and got out of the water a few feet away from where he was before. He shook his head shyly and hesitated to walk back.

Skolir chuckeled a bit to himself. The sight of Persona, drenched on the river's bank, was slightly humerous. "All is well, young one! Many a time I have found myself overconfident and have fallen flat on my face." Skolir submerged himself underwater, and reapeared on the bank a second later, now in his Elder form. He continued on. "The only thing I can say is to never give up on your ambitions, and if you ever find yourself within the reach of your goal, never get too cocky. Now, we have a ways to travel, and not much time before dark. In order to not give your mother too much to worry about, I say we start to head back now."

Persona looked Skolir, pouting a little bit. He did not want to trip in the water as he did. He wanted to catch that fish, bring it home and show it to his family. Beyond that Skolir spoke of heading back. Persona stared at the elder with puppy eyes. "Oh please no! We must continue fishing, I want to catch something. I will never catch anything or else. Why can't we stay. it won't be dark, not just yet." He kept on begging, feeling rather nervous and anxious. His goal was not trully clear to him.

Skolir smiled. "Ok. It seems that by the way the sun is positioned, we have just around three hours before dark. I suppose we can continuue for a bit more, say, twenty minutes. But, then we must make our leave, yes?" Skolir slid back into the water, this time swimming around in lazy circles on his back. "If you remember what I said earlier, then get in your stance and try again. This time, though, forget that I am here, just imagine yourself here alone, this may help you concentrate."

Persona was beaming. He was persuaded Skolir would not want to stay a little longer. He was so happy and he jumped into the river again, doing his best to remain in balance. He looked straight into the water, at one time trying to concentrate and find fish and also trying to ignore Skolir. He treaded water finding little fish swimming in between his legs from time to time but always being startled away too fast. Each time Persona would grumble a little bit.

Skolir just continued to swim in lazy circles, slowly closing his eyes and smiling a bit each time he heard Persona loose his patience. Deciding that he was adaquately cooled off, Skolir swam to the bank of the river and got out. Shaking himself dry, Skolir wandered over to a spot where the dense emerald canopy above broke and a steady stream of golden sunlight lit up the ground. Circling it twice untill he found a comfortable direction, facing Persona, he setteled down to watch.

Persona did not realize Skolir had gone out of the water. He had finally been able to shut the outside world out and everything was only between him and the fish to come. He frowned at the water for a long time and then finally his first catch. A fish, medium in size, smaller than the earlier one but bigger than the small nervous ones. With a sharp swipe of his claws he caught the fish. He lost his balance and rushed to the shore. "I caught one!" He shouted out to Skolir. He grew a little worried when he did not see Skolir.

"Overe here" Skolir called, "And a very nice catch, if I do say so myself." Skolir got up off the dirt and walked over to Persona. "Wow, that looks nearly twelve inches long, very impressive! So, would you like to eat that fish, or save it to show your parents your very first catch?"

"I, I don't know," Persona said. In a dilema, certain he could catch a bigger fish he put the fish at Skolir's feet and said, "Keep him for now, I'll eat him if I catch something bigger. If I don't I'll show him to my parents." Without receiving Skolir's consent he ran back into the water to fish.

Persona's enthusiasm made Skolir smile. "Ok then, but your fishing on limited time, somthing that is not smart to do, because fishing takes patience and it is nearly impossable to be patient when you have limited time." Skolir settled back down into his little space of golden light. An azure butterfly flitted by Skolir's line of sight, so he watched as it made it's way, floating up and down, to the edge of the clearing. He looked away back to Persona as it rounded a tree and left his sight.

Persona kept treading water. He did not see a single fish pass by. He stayed in the water, waiting, anxious. He did not want Skolir to call out and tell him time was over. He wished he could make the fish come faster. "come fishy fishy"

Watching Persona, Skolir played with a blade of grass between his paw's pads. A few minutes passed before he noticed that he had woven the blade into an intricate knot. Tossing it aside, Skolir arose and made his way to the bank of the river. For some strange reason, Skolir was feeling a little agitated, as if he was expecting some form of harm to befall Persona. Perhaps it was because he had taken this youngling on a trip without his parent's concent, and thus it was his responsability to make sure that Persona made it back safely. "You know, the fish won't all be gone when you have the chance to come back here. There's a lifetime to perfect fishing as a skill. And, after all, you already know much more about it than any of your sibblings."

Persona kept his eyes on the water when he heard Skolir's voice. He did not respond to his words and did not move. He looked up when he heard mension of his siblings though. He grinned jyofully, "That is so true," he said, thinking of fishing with his siblings and being the best one. At that moment, just as he went to get back on land he laid his paws on a sharp stone in the riverbed and he fell back, floating away witht he current, "Blahh!"
