He didn’t believe it.
Dimbwi just didn’t believe that his brother had tripped that epically and fallen on top of him. Not after that much of a commotion and launching from where ever he had been hiding. Following his gaze, the puppy soon discovered the snake the little thing had been so frightened by.
THAT was it?
“It’s…. just a little snake!” he laughed lightly, “that frightened you? Haha! You need more protection than you want to admit if things like that scare you!”

Pushing out his bottom lip in a pouting sort of way, Jua stared blankly at his brother.
"Nooooo...." he rolled his eyes, trying to sluff it off, but he'd already been found out.
"There's no way I'm gonna let you protect me." he smirked, not wanting someone, let alone a boy, protecting him. It was just too.....uncool.

“You don’t have a choice!” his brother shot back with a wide grin. It was amusing him to no end to know that a snake had frightened the other. Though, truth be told, he wasn’t exactly a fan of the slithering little things himself. His dislike of them, however, was not what was being focused on at that moment.
“I’ll protect you whether you want it or not. That’s what brothers do!” He puffed out his chest, looking proud of himself for making such a proclamation.

Dimbwi smiled. "Cause you're here! I wouldn't be very good at guarding others if I just picked whoever I wanted- it's who needs it! Don't worry, brother, I won't let any snakes get to you!" He barked happily, pouncing on top of his brother again and nomming on his ear harmlessly.
He was thrilled to be protecting someone.

"Yeah, yeah...." Jua yawned, his energy drained from his both his encounter and his insisting brother. There was also a part of him that wanted to sleep just to try and forget about the shame of being afraid of a snake.
"You should come sleep." he rolled onto his side, looking up at his brother. "Even protectors have to sleep." his eyes fell shut, trying to convince his brother to sleep instead of 'protecting' him.

Dimbwi yawned shortly after his brother, catching the urge and unable to stop it from surfacing. “Maybe…” he said lowly, “I suppose I do need to keep my strength up.” He moved over to his brother, giving the back of his ear a couple fond licks before plopping down on top of him like a puppy blanket.
The young wild dog had tired himself out with all the running around in the warm sun beating down on top of him.
“If anything attacks when we’re sleeping…” he said sleepily, “I’ll protect you.” He closed his eyes, falling to sleep right on top of his brother.
