Teyr frowned. He normally hated to disagree with people, but he couldn't help but feel that he was right in this case. But he couldn't think of a good way to say so, so he shrugged again.

On the other hand, Zwei had little trouble announcing when he was right. "Name is name," he said bluntly. Why were they fussing so much about them? His eyes widened slightly at 'Zuba's explanation, and he nodded. He knew that! Then he shook his head. "No sister. Brother." Zwei held out his hand, and began counting. "Mother. And... Icosa." He forgot what title Icosa was supposed to have, so he glanced at Teyr, wondering if he remembered.

Equally clueless, Teyr shook his head. "Icosa... what?"

'Zuba blinked as the younger boy frowned, trying to figure out why he was. She then looked at Zwei, blinking at his statement. Well, he did have a point there; a name was just a name. She listened as he explained his family, interested. "Who Icosa?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.

Zwei still hadn't figured it out, but he pointed down the aisle. Ennea was there, seemingly lost among a pile of stuffed animals and dolls. "Ennea mother," he said. That much he was sure about. "Icosa... not father." They had been told that much early on- that Ennea was their mother, and Icosa was not their father. But what was he?

Starting to lose interest in that line of conversation, Teyr went back to poking through the toys. He was still clutching the candy cane with one hand, but the other was touching everything he could reach. "'Zuba like toys?" he asked, reaching up to try and pull down a stuffed dog from a higher shelf.

'Zuba blinked, confused now. Not father? Then who? She frowned lightly, feeling slightly frustrated; she couldn't figure it out! She'd wanted to help, but it looked like she'd failed at her attempt. She then looked over to Teyr, nodding. "Like toys...have dolly at home. Mother made." she said, walking over. Since he seemed to be having trouble, 'Zuba got the dog and handed it down to him. "Here." she said, offering a faint smile.

Likewise, Zwei was frustrated with his lack of knowledge, and wanted to know more. But he wasn't getting anywhere, and when Teyr changed the subject, Zwei sighed and decided to go along with it. "Get more toys now?" he asked slowly, looking to see if there was anything he liked. Nothing really sprung to mind.

Teyr almost reached the shelf- when suddenly, the dog seemed to be reaching down to him. He grabbed it gleefully, but when he saw 'Zuba holding it out to him, he immediately looked down. "Sorry," he murmured. He didn't mean to make her have to work. There must be something else she could be doing...

"Not sorry," Zwei corrected. Sorry was for when you did something wrong, but Teyr seemed to use it for everything! "Thankoo."

Shaking his head, Teyr held the dog closer. "Sorry," he insisted stubbornly.

'Zuba nodded at what Zwei said; more toys sounded like an excellent idea. 'Couse, she planned to pick toys out for her siblings, not herself. She blinked as the younger boy apologized, looking confused. She then kneeled down to his level, patting his head and smiling lightly to assure him. "Brother right; no need for sorry." she said, nodding once. "Thank you better term." She didn't understand what the boy had to be sorry for; it wasn't like he'd done anything bad or caused any trouble.

Delighted, Teyr nodded vigorously, forgetting all about the confusion in terms- at least for the moment. Instead, he decided to find more toys, including something he thought 'Zuba would like, as thanks for helping him.

After a moment's annoyance, Zwei shrugged and moved on, pulling a box off a shelf further down the aisle. It had a picture of a car and another, smaller box with wires on it. He examined it for a moment, confused. What fun could a box possibly be?

At the same time, Teyr abandoned the stuffed dog and moved to the other side of the aisle. He wanted to ask what 'Zuba liked- and Zwei as well, for that matter- but was not sure how. "What's..." he started, then fell silent. "What's good?" he finally settled on.

'Zuba thought a moment; toys were not her forte at all. "Um....remote control car nice?" she suggested, motioning to the toy Zwei had. Atleast, from where she was standing, it looked like a remote control car. "Stuffed animals, too.."

Off a few aisles over, 'Zuba could hear her mother calling for her. She sighed, deciding she'd wait for the adult to get closer, reluctant to leave her new acquaintances.

Oh, that's what it was! The concept of "remote-control" was still new to Zwei, but he did at least know what a car was. "Why box?" he asked. It was difficult to see what the toy was like when they put it in a box, pictures or no.

Since Zwei had the car, Teyr seized on 'Zuba's other idea, the stuffed animals. At first he retrieved the dog he'd dropped. Then he grabbed a stuffed snake and a bear off another shelf and held them out. Surely she would like one of those! And she looked so unhappy... maybe the right toy would make her smile.

Ennea stumbled over a fallen rocking horse, regaining her balance with the help of a shelf. "Zwei! Teyr!" she called, squeezing past people to get close to them. And who was the girl? Smiling nervously, Ennea held out her hand. "Friend?" she asked, directing the question at all three of them. "Nice to meet you!"

"So no one steals it." 'Zuba answered, looking over at Zwei. After all, it would be harder to sneak out of the store carrying a box that size than to sneak out with just the car itself.

She offered a faint smile to the younger child, though she wasn't sure why he was holding the toys out to her. "Those nice..." she commented, smiling as she motioned to the stuffed animals. Personally, she like the snake; it reminded her of the big one at the Zoo.

She blinked, looking up at the new person. She reached out, slowly shaking her hand. "Friend....nice to meet." she said, nodding once. "'M 'Zuba....you?"

"Oh," said Zwei. His eyes narrowed. Only bad people would try to take what didn't belong to them without asking! He didn't see what difference a box would make, but they probably had their reasons.

Ennea blinked back, then smiled nervously. She was glad that they were making friends, but didn't really know what to say. "Nice to meet," she repeated slowly, before her tongue froze.

As if sensing Ennea's nervousness, Zwei spoke for her. "Ennea. Mother."

And Teyr, remembering why they had come, held the three stuffed animals (as well as the soggy stuffed candy cane) out to Ennea. "One, two, three!" he chirped. "Teyr, Zwei, 'Zuba!"

'Zuba backed off a little; she didn't mean to scare the woman. "Ah." She said softly, nodding at Zwei's explanation. She felt a little bad, though; Ennea seemed nice. And it was a mean thing to do, you know. To make someone nervous, that is.

She blinked, looking at Teyr. Did he mean? Oh! "'S okay; Mother can get." she said, waving her hands a bit. She grabbed another on of the snake plushies, smiling lightly. "You keep. Got own." she said, nodding once as she glanced around for her Mother, who was busy fighting against the crowds.

Slowly, Ennea began to loosen up, and she smiled even more warmly. "Am sorry," she explained. "Still learning." Though she spoke with more fluidity than the boys, her vocabulary was not what one might expect from an adult, and her speech was quite slow.

Then she saw the toys, and added them all to a few she carried in a shopping basket. "Please... let us gift you," Ennea said, then frowned. That was not quite right. "Let us gift for you," she amended. Well, it was better.

Pleased with the outcome of that exchange, Zwei added the car to Ennea's basket and began to lead her towards the registers. "Go?" he asked both Teyr and 'Zuba, not wanting anyone to get lost.

Teyr was similarly pleased, but also concerned that he'd said something wrong. "So-" he stopped mid-word, considering. "Thank you."

"'S okay." 'Zuba said, offering a small smile. To be honest, she saw nothing wrong with how Ennea talked; atleast she was coherent, right? Right. She then shook her head. "No....don't have to. 'M fine; don't need." Yes, she liked the snake...but she didn't need it. Besides, it'd probably make someone else happier, anyways.

Ennea paused. She was told to get the boys whatever they wanted, and they clearly wanted to get this girl a gift. But the girl didn't want a gift! How was she supposed to handle it?

... no, the girl didn't say she didn't "want" the toy, she said she didn't "need" it. Ennea knew the difference between those words, and she smiled and leaned in close. "Boys want to gift for you," she whispered. "Would make them happy. Please make them happy?"

Indeed, Teyr looked upset. He didn't understand why he wasn't making 'Zuba and Ennea happy, and was on the verge of apologizing again.

Zwei waited for Ennea, but he kept his eyes on the register. At this rate, they would keep arguing and never ever leave!
