As the Menos were all being destroyed, the area where the sky had been ripped open became black space, as the Menos filled out. As they were being killed, their spiritual energy distorted everything around them, as they appeared and disappeared, along with Razil's energy. Through it all, Asuma had been standing on the edge of the Sand Ring, watching it all. As the final Menos was killed, Asuma walked out, his blade sheathed, and his hands at his sides. Looking around him, Asuma grinned under his mask. "Very nice...And now, we go to the real part." Bringing his right hand up, Asuma snapped his fingers, and a few runes appeared behind him. A doorway opening, Asuma reached behind him, pulling out a small girl that seemed to older than twelve. On her face, was half of a Vizard's mask, and both of her eyes were yellow. Throwing her in front of him, Asuma looked down at her, a bored look on his face, and then looked up at Razil.

"Kill her."

Razil slowly approached Asuma, blood leaking from several wounds and joining the rivulets already awash in the dusty sand. He neared the small girl, kneeling in front of her and looking into her yellowed eyes.
"So young, she has no idea what is happening to her." His eyes softened, and he cupped her non-masked cheek with his hand. Despite this, she was still a menace. There was no avoiding what was to come for her...if Razil didn't kill her, Asuma would...probably painfully and violently.
"Little way-ward girl. I am sorry you had to experience this...I'll make it better, I promise."
The girl looked up, her golden gaze lancing him with cruel hate. As his words registered, it was as if some remnant of her old self resurfaced, and a solitary tear streaked down the flawless ivory surface of the mask.
Razil tipped her forward, embracing her and bringing his right hand hovering over the back of her neck.
"Just a slight pinch dear, and you will be free." As he said this, a thin but solid spike of reiatsu formed at his wrist. He placed the tip at the base of her neck, where the spine met the skull, and shoved.
Her body jerked slightly, reacting to the pain, then eased back down as the calm of death took over her body. Razil flipped her body over and stood up, letting the spike dissipate into the air. He watched as the girl vanished slowly, turning into spirit particles before his eyes. The particles flew up, swirled around him and ascended to heaven, Razils watchful gaze following them.
"Where do you suppose they go?" He asked Asuma, looking at him.
"Shinigami, when they die. Where do they go?"

Sighing under his mask, the sound that came out sounded like someone was blowing into a microphone. Moving his left hand upwards, Asuma loosened the mask that was around his mouth, letting it fall from where it stayed at his mouth, to the bottom of his neck, where it was stopped from dropping further by the black leather that wound around Asuma's head. A slight frown and blank eyes, Asuma looked up into the sky, watching as the hole the Menos had created closed. "Who knows. This is our second life. So does that mean we can have a third as well? All I know is one thing." Narrowing his eyes slightly as the hole closed completely, Asuma looked back down at Razil. "Live like there's no tomorrow. Like it's the last you'll ever see."

Turning around, Asuma chuckled, a grin playing along the edges of his mouth. He had quoted a song he had heard a few times while he was on earth, on a radio in a house he was in. The song had sounded pretty nice to him. The lyrics still played in his head.

"Everybody sing, like it's the last song you will, ever sing
Tell me tell me do you feel the pressure now?
Everybody live, like it's the last day you will, ever see
Tell me tell me do you feel the pressure now?"

Turning back around to face Razil, Asuma still had a grin on the edges of his mouth, giving him an amused look. "Well, enough of the philosophy talk. We're here to get your Zaigou, am I correct? Then, let's get started." Placing his right hand on his zanpaktou's hilt-the zanpaktou was on his right hip, so he would draw it backwards-Asuma just stood there, looking at Razil. "Now, we can do this two ways. the first, is the way that I was taught. you must let yourself be controlled by rage, hate, anger, sorrow, all of that, and then make it like it is a different part of yourself. Separate it from your own thoughts, your own mind, and give it physical form. After that, it should be separated from you, and you'll have to subdue it.

"The second way, is my own way. This might or might not seem easier. But, you fight me, and use all your rage, hate, anger, everything along those lines, and then make them burst out of you. Either way, it all comes out to the same thing; you have to fight your Zaigou spirit. It might kill you, in which case, I'll have to kill you-well, your body. If you subdue it, well, we'll get to that when it happens. Anyway, take your pick, and start."

I already have plenty of experience with my inner demons. Razil thought ruefully, though his outer composure betrayed no hint of emotion.
Razil closed his eyes and concentrated, traveling the inner pathways of his mind, to the large wall that blocked off his darker half from the rest of his thoughts.
I have to be careful now...push the entity out rather than give in to it...

Keeping this in perspective, Razil let the wall splinter before him. However, instead of letting the darkness flow over and into him, he controlled it. Although at first it was a struggle, a contest of will between the flowing black mass and Razil's own, the being couldn't conquer him in his own territory. Razil grew nauseous, and sweat broke out on his body. His spine contorted horribly and his head leaned back until he was looking at the cloudless sky. He opened his mouth, wide like a snake, and a black formless substance flowed out.

The mass flew into the air and landed about 20 meters away, swirling and warping the dirt underneath it. Razil fell on a knee, taking a deep breath and regaining his composure. When he got up again, the substance before him was a spinning vortex, circulating in place. Tendrils shot out of it, and far to many appendages than was appropriate for any one thing. When it finally stopped morphing, what stood was a creature the like of which Razil had never seen before.

It was at least twice as tall as a man, solid black and sleek. Hairless, its flesh shone with a sickly luster, betraying the disease underneath. Its head reared above the serpentine body, arching back and then forward again like a snake. 3 rows of eyes peered cruelly from brow less forehead, glowing crimson. The body was long, ending with a cluster of black tentacles tipped in black blades of unknown material. There were far to many to count, and Razil soon gave up trying.

Beholding this creature, a sense of horror overcame Razil.
THIS is what I have been housing...this monster?!
With a shaky breath, Razil spoke.
"W-what is your name, creature?"

The head swiveled slowly, piercing him with an red, icy gaze.
"I am everything dark and destructive about you, Razil Masamune." The demon said, its voice rasping through the mind like a stiff brush of nails and razors.
"But you may call me...Khaos."

Looking over at the monster as it was formed, Asuma snickered to himself. "And here I thought what I had inside me was ugly. But that...it's just hysterical." Grinning at the creature's expense, Asuma turned to Razil, still chuckling to himself. "Now you have to fight it. And try to make it better looking, will ya? My eyes hurt when I look at it." Chuckling again, Asuma only laughed because he knew the creature couldn't do anything to him. since it was just a newly released Zaigou, it probably wouldn't even be able to harm him much. Zetusmi alone could take this one, if he had to. It was a good thing, too. Because if the creature was as strong as he was ugly, he might be in trouble.

But then again, what could go wrong? A lot of things.

And yet, he just took it with a laughing mood. Seeing Razil's face at his own inner demon was pretty funny. Had it been like this with Yamoto as Asuma had been trained?

With a shudder, Razil stood up straight, feeling several bones in his spine crack back into place. He noticed the wide grin on Asuma's face, but didn't react to it. Using his sword to support himself, Razil looked dead at the creature, with as serious a face as he could muster.
"You know why I brought you forth, will you submit or will you fight?"
A devious cackle emanated from the throat of Khaos, enveloping Razil like a malevolent cloud of black rotting velvet.

"Submit? HA! Did you really think think was going to be that easy?"
The red glow from his eyes flashed menacingly, looking like twin pools of blood. The serpent rose up higher, blocking out the sun with his massive neck.
"Tell me boy, why should I fight you? If I just wait, I will eventually take over your body...you know this, you can feel the madness take away just a little bit more of your humanity every time you use it...it is only a matter of time."

((Ok. A lot of things have happened to Asuma since we started this, so I'm just gonna go with it. For now there will be Asuma, but in rp now my character is named Hogosha XD))

Starting to get annoyed, Asuma's reiatsu slowly started to climb, as the black ball and chain attached to his wrist started to glow black as well. He wanted to get this over with. The large Zaigou spirit was so full of itself it was annoying. He would make sure they fought.

"Your going to fight him because if you don't, I'll kill you myself. Better yet.." His chain clanking as it went over itself, Asuma gave the spirit in front of him a menacing grin. "...my own Zaigou will. So stop your useless talk. You say you can take over his body. Kill him and take it then. Don't stand around talking, you pathetic excuse for a spirit."

This would be the deciding factor. If the creature took his taunt-which, from looking at it, it most likely would-then he would attack Razil, therefore starting the fight. Just standing there talking would solve nothing.

The beast swiveled its head to face Asuma, red eyes glowering. A hiss escaped from its lips, and a noxious smell filled the field.
"If I wanted, human I could return to the boys body and stay there. This is battle is not up to you, so butt out."
His eyes returned to Razil, who was slowly regaining his composure.
"However, I get the feeling that this one is determined to fight me regardless..." the beast paused for a moment, as if pondering.
"Hmph, you want a fight? Fine."

It happened so quickly they barely had time to blink. The great serpent snapped his head forward and to the left, whipping his tail across Razil's chest and sending him hurtling through the dusty air. Razil hit the ground and rolled, his right hand still clasping the hilt of his blade. As he came to rest in a puff of dry dirt, he sprang back to his feet, drawing the sheath in front of him in a guard position. The blow had ignited his combat instincts, and adrenaline had flooded Razil's system, banishing any traces of sickness he had less.

Razil blocked another tail whip, the blow almost jarring his arm all the way up to his shoulder, and darted to the right while slashing at the beast with a knife that was suddenly in his hand. And so the fight began in earnest.

A solitary drop of salty sweat fell to the dusty floor, just as a shadow flew over it and away. Razil launched himself away from a flying tentacle, trying to avoid the black barb at the end. Several wounds wound their way across his body, with scarlet blood staining the material of his kosode. The dull black glimmer of his sword flashed, he had abandoned the sheath long ago, and sparks flew as he parried another razor sharp scythe. The monster bared down on him, stagnant breath washing over Razil's sweat-drenched body.

"You now you cant defeat me boy." the serpent said.
"You are wearing out much too fast, at this rate I will kill you."

Razil jumped backwards, landing on his heels and falling into a crouch with Katana Fungeki held backwards in his right.
"I still have some tricks left up my sleeves, monster." Razil said, his mouth forming a tight line. The fight had been continuing for hours, a constant dance of shadow and flesh. Razil had refrained from using any higher powers of his, but the creature was right. If this continued any longer, his body would succumb. Razil stood up straight, clasping the hilt in both hands and pointing his blade down. The tatters that were his robes started to flutter as energy started to disperse from his feet. A dark glow circumscribed his form.

"Desecrate, Katana Fungeki."

Spirit force exploded outwards as the Shikai activated, and Razil was suddenly hold two swords...a white one in his left, and a black duplicate in his right. Without any more contemplation, Razil unleashed himself on the serpent with renewed vigor. He was a spinning dervish, a razor tipped bird with blades for wings. For every time the beast wounded him, Razil would deal twice as much damage.

Yet, this seemed to no avail. No matter how much Razil would cut and rip into the flesh of the beast, the black fluid that spewed forth would just reseal the wound in a matter of seconds. The fight continued like this for a little longer, but Razil's condition continued to deteriorate. Finally, the tail slammed into him a final time and drove him into the ground, his back carving a trench into the dust. With a shriek of joy, the serpent lunged forward, jaws snapping.
"Finally, the balance has tipped!"
The words echoed in Razil's skull, as he fought to maintain consciousness.

The balance has finally...the balance has...the balance...balance...

And then, it clicked.

The flashing jaws of Khaos were stopped by the sharp point of Razil's sword. A line of black blood pooled and drained down the metal where it had cut through the flesh. The monster stared down at Razil with hate-filled eyes.
The latter stared back up, eyes filled with a new determination and...calm?
"I just realized something." he said, tilting his head slightly to the side.
"My swords, why are they a different color? Is it just a fancy design? That is what I thought..."

"...until just now." Razil slowly stood up, blood splashing the ground and running freely from his lips.
"It is what you said. Balance. I cannot defeat you if I still rely on your power to fight, the madness causes an imbalance of emotions inside my head. In order to win, I must simply retaliate with calm and logic."
The serpents eyes widened, as Razil pointed two forefingers dead at its face.
"Hadou #4, Byakurai." the blast of lightning blew Khaos backwards, digging another trench a few meters long into the ground. The beast flipped back up instantly, growling slightly and eying Razil warily, the half that was impacted by the Kidou burned black.
"Too long have I relied on your power, too long have I succumbed to the darkness...no more. I must restore the balance in my soul, light and shadow...in equal amounts." As he said this, he crossed his swords, white blade upon black.
"You see now?" Razil said, his voice straight and clear.
"You see why I must win, to restore the balance in myself."
Khaos screamed, a scream filled with rage and hate and death and blood.
It lunged at Razil, intent on ripping him limb from limb.
"You shall be MINE!"

Even with a 4-ton mass of black death flying at him, with jaws snapping, Razil remained perfectly calm.
...And that is the mark of a true swordsman...
a raspy voice struck through his mind like a bell.
As the bulk of the creature approached, Razil dropped down to a crouch. The serpent flew over his shoulder, and Razil rose both blades so the sharp edge touched against Khaos's soft belly. The beasts momentum carried its whole body across the twin razors, splitting it from neck to tail like a ripe grape.

The creature fell to the ground behind him, writhing and spewing black blood everywhere. Its screams rose into the air and were born away on the wind. Razil walked over to it, blood still leaking from many wounds and splashing to the ground. He didn't feel any pain.
Reaching the squirming mass, Razil let his Shikai dissipate and sheathed the black blade. He let the tip fall and planted it on what would pass for the Serpents forehead. The beast immediately froze, although the tip of its many tails still twitched every once in a while.
"You are defeated monster, submit to me." he said it without emotion.
A dark sigh could be heard, escalating into a slight chuckle.
"Defeated? Haha, no boy. I have been put down this once, but never defeated. The lonely candle flame is always surrounded by the darkest of night, and a single breeze can extinguish the flame."

"Then mine shall be a great pyre, and the darkness will not prevail."
Another chuckle, and a wheeze.
"Tread lightly, Razil. You have me in check for now...but I will always be waiting for you to crack."
The surface of the beasts skin began to bubble, and then boil. Its whole form turned to liquid and, quicker than Razil could anticipate, flew right at him and through him. Razil fell over, temporarily blinded. He wretched a bit, the taste of bile rising in his throat, and stood up. He could recognize the darker feelings of his nature, the cynical side of him that had fled when Khaos had come out of him.
So it is back inside me... he thought, shuddering. He searched for the wall in his mind but...coming to the usual place, could not find it.
You have more fully integrated with it, and achieved a greater balance. Said Katana Fungeki, explaining.

Razil sighed and turned to Asuma.
"Are we finished yet? I don't know how much longer it will take me to bleed out." As he said this, a gush of blood spurted from his shoulder, Razil's body jerked and he raised a hand to stem the flow of blood.

Shaking his head, Asuma walked forward. He still had the same grin on his face,a remnant from the battle. "Well, it would take a while, even with those wounds. Long enough for you to get to fourth and back if you wanted." Chuckling to himself, Asuma moved his right hand behind him, the black reiatsu swirling around his hand. Suddenly, a black rip appeared in the air behind him, large enough for them both to step through. Though, it was only for Razil. "Here you go, Razil. In time, you'll learn to master that...thing that you called a spirit. Though they're always unruly. Zetsumi here tried killing me twice, and about succeeded both times." Motioning for Razil to go through, Asuma nodded. "I'll see you later, Razil. Congratulations. Welcome to hell."

And with that, Asuma disappeared, leaving behind a thin lining of crimson where he had stood.

Razil stood for a moment, and chuckled to himself.
"Hell, huh? You know its funny...every time I think I have seen hell...and every time there ends up being something worse."
He stepped through the black portal, not looking behind him as it shut behind, and he was engulfed in dark.
