"Maybe," he shrugged, "Maybe I'll just go look for Anya." Enzi was teasing, he would take it all into consideration. He had the same drive to impress his family as any of them, not so strong as Shani had had but certainly it existed. For now, he was content to just stay right here and wait for the girls to come back. Maybe they would have some advice. Maybe he could tag along with Vikasini and her friends. Maybe.
He smiled at Shani, and looked out in the distance.
"How about a game," he suggested, "We'll bet who comes home first. If you win, I'll go try to make some friends. You could even pick somebody."

Enzi was being difficult, that much she knew. So she made a face at him, but made no comment. Him and Anya would always be friends, she had no doubt about that. Or she did not want to. She might have thought so about herself and Ghali but that hadn't worked out so well, though her sister had trusted her with something extremely valuable.
"Oh?" she blinked, raising a brow at the suggestion, "What happens if I lose, then?"

"Hmm, good question," he said thoughtfully, considering the options but coming to no solid ideas of equal value to his offer, "We'll worry about that when you lose, you can owe me."
He grinned once again. Now it was a matter of how much she trusted him, even he had no idea what he might come up with. He didn't really need anything, he could ask to be left alone about the whole shy-thing but she was right. She was his mother and that's just how it was going to be.
"What do you say?"

She thought about it, but not for very long.
"Alright," she agreed, "But you have to be fair picking something if I lose." And the game was on, she took a good look around them and thought about it. Everybody was out, not the most common of situations. She had to consider who was out most often, because they were more likely to stay out. But sometimes those who went out infrequently went out for a while when they did. But then perhaps she was thinking too much. There was no harm in just picking one, you couldn't accurately predict someone unless you saw them coming.
"I'll pick Demeter," she finally announced decisively, "But what happens if neither of our picks come back first?"

"Whichever of our picks comes back first between the two of them, then," he said after a short hesitation, "But bonus points if they are the first-first lion to come back home."
Then it was his turn to pick, and he too looked out for any sign of someone who was already within view. Unfortunately, he didn't see anybody so he had to pick someone. The obvious choice was Anya, if only because he liked to stick with her. But was that too obvious?
"I'll piiiiick Zu," he said with equal decisiveness, "So that's decided then. Now we just have to wait and see." Enzi grinned and curled his tail around the side of him not occupied by the larger brown lioness. He'd found a way to entertain the both of them and a way to avoid being sent off immediately. All that they could do was get comfortable and keep chatting cheerfully until someone won the bet.
