All Mint'e could do was just stare at the old Klipspringer as he went through the process of chucking a mouthful of rocks into a cave. Wouldn't one have just worked equally as well? And wait, why did he even go through with it? What if there really were big cats in there! Yeep!
"Old man, you're insane..." the green Klippy softly laughed, going forward with the older deer. When the bat zoomed out and nearly scared the crap out of ol' Ruul', all Mint'e could do was laugh at the sight. An old 'veteran' like him got scared by a little bat!
"Oh, don't those things just drive you batty?"

$*&@!#% ba-..What?
..Mint'e was laughing at him?!
The bat had came out from freakin' nowhere!.. The poor old 'reindeer' hadn't been expecting it at all.
"Oh, hush you." Ruul'dolph barked out with a huff, scrunching up his nose at the younger Klipspringer and giving a pout. "'Eet jus'.. freaked me out a lil'. Was expecting a big cat 'r something else." Giving a scuff at the dirt ground with a front hoof, he then continued walking in, coming to a stop and looking around. "Nothing dangerous around, I guess. We can spend the night here." The old male muttered, still uneasy from his little encounter with the cave bat, easily seen as he started to lay down slowly, curling his jittery legs under him with a small grunt. "I hope one day a bat goes an' smacks y' 'een the face, shrimp."
Hmph. Stupid bat.
"A' least we found the stupid cave."

"Yes, because big cats have wings." Mint'e chuckled on the outside, but inwardly he was thanking whatever Gods were listening that it was just a bat. Striding into the small cave, he looked around to see what was in it.
Rocks, dirt, a few stalagmites; the usual stuff. But whatever, at least the dirt felt soft beneath his hooves; that was good. Tucking his legs underneath him, he set his head down on the dirt, looking at the older deer across from him.
"Haha, that would be a story, wouldn't it? While leaving my most recent female partner, I get hit by a bat flying back to his cave. Wouldn't that be a fitting punishment?" Mint'e chuckled at his own idea. What if that really did happen?
"Yup, we found it. And thanks to me, too. Told you I was useful."

"But.. It could have been." Ruul' muttered with a grumpy snort at Mint'e and his comment about big cats, flicking his tail against the ground. He pondered this for a little, thinking what the situation could have been like. A big feline or a few canines could have been in there alright..
Mint'e would go in first next time.
This situation was much more pleasant than the one in his head, a nice cave to shield them from the elements and the dark there to cover them if anything dangerous did happen to make their way near the two of them. It was... actually rather comfortable, nice even, for something his younger friend had managed to find. "Fitting indeed." He said with a slight nod of his head towards the green Klippy, before resting the bottom of his chin down onto his chest lightly.
"Useful?.. You?"
Ruul'dolph said with his eyes closed halfway, glancing over at the already resting Mint'e.
"..A little."
