Lye didn't respond at her mentioning of her leaving. It wasn't a sign of anger, or of appreciation. It was more of a sing to elaborate. Lye just kept counting, eyes trained on the cash. He spoke up, not in an angry voice, nor was it happy, per se. It was as blank as his face. "And? Did anything happen?" Inside, Lye was waiting. If nothing happened, he would relax. Slightly. If something did happen, good lord, there would be hell to pay. Lye had always tried to shelter everyone else, even at his own expense. This was the downside of him being protective. God forbid if he found out about any of the girls having sex. He cared for them like a father, and like any over-protective father would, he wanted them to be virgins until the day they died. And the worst possible thing to happen to them was if he walked in during the middle of it. It would be disastrous. Lye would slaughter the guy, and chew out whoever it was. Lye pushed the thoughts from his mind as he realized he could easily lose count of money. They did well today. They were up to three hundred dollars, and Lye wasn't even finished counting.

_Tales of a Teenage Carousel_ Help, I have done it again. I have been here many times before. Hurt myself again today. And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame. She couldn't tell what he was thinking. His face was so blank, his voice, so indifferent that it was hard to read. Lye was always like that with everyone, and Chloe knew it was only because he cared for the family and felt that need to be "the man of the house", so to say. So, what should she do? For a moment, she stopped her counting and just gazed emotionlessly at the table before her. Should she tell him of the man that tried to flirt with her... The man that had called over a few friends and had begun to harass her for being a "very cute girl"... The innocent type, they had said... The phrase echoing in her ears, still...
But, if she told him, he might get angry and hurt them, and although it wasn't right for them to have harassed her in the first place, she still didn't want Lye to go out of his way to settle something that had already been settled. For a moment, her cheeks got warm, and she knew she was blushing. Indeed, the conflict had already been settled by a younger guy, one who looked to be around her age, maybe a couple of years older, if anything. He had stood up for her... Had fought those men off and had frightened them away. And not only that, but he had made it a point to also make sure she hadn't been hurt in the process...
The surprise of it all was that he knew she was a Chandlice... And he still spoke to her. He did, after all, look familiar. Perhaps he was the paper boy, or some local pizza delivery guy who she had seen passing by their home more than once while she was seated in the front yard gazing off as usual. But, he had helped a Chandlice, rather than walking off... So, it meant a bit to her to know that some people were still kind to others... She began to count again.
"A group of men decided that... I was too pretty for my own good... But this guy helped me out and ran them off," she said in a soft voice as she watched the money pass before her eyes, counting it up.

When Chloe spoke, Lye visibly twitched in anger. It wasn't a large twitch, more like a sudden tensing, except for the finger he was using to move a coin, which ended up flying into a wall, hitting so hard it stuck halfway through. For a while, it seemed as if a dark aura was around Lye, while he finished counting the money, retrieved the coin, all the while staying silent. And for some reason, his eyes were lost in shadow, unable to be seen. When he was done counting the money, he wrote the number on a piece of paper, six hundred forty-three dollars and sixty-two cents, and walked to Chloe. He then looked her in the eye, his eyes filled with worry. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you? Did they do anything to you?" Lye put his hands on Chloe's shoulders, and bent his head down so he was closer to Chloe's eye level. His voice dripped with worry, and looked as if he was trying to search her mind through her eyes in case she was lying.

_Tales of a Teenage Carousel_ Help, I have done it again. I have been here many times before. Hurt myself again today. And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame. Chloe paused a moment, pretending to be distracted by the number on the piece of paper that Lye had written down. "We got a lot of take in for today. Does that mean we get a good dinner?" she asked him curiously, not meaning to change the subject.
Looking back at him, she realized then how close he was to her, the muskiness of the scent of her "older brother"... The intensity of the look that he gave her... The care that dripped from his voice, from his tongue as the words fell and hit her ears. She loved Lye... Loved him because he took care of her, and for that she owed him so much. "They... They grabbed me and tried to take me away... But this guy helped me out..." she said softly.

Lye closed his eyes, trying his hardest not to tighten his grip in anger. He sighed to calm himself, and lightly pushed Chloe to him, hugging her. He buried his face into her neck, trying to make the anger fade until he cared for Chloe. "But they didn't hurt you, right? They didn't do anything because of this guy, right? You'll be okay... right?" Lye felt his tear ducts struggle to make moisture, but they had dried long ago. He didn't want anything more to happen to his family, they had already dealt with enough. He listened for her answer as he held her in his embrace. Lye stood there for a moment, calming himself, making sure he didn't fly off the handle. He didn't want his family to see him in a true rage. So far they had only seen him annoyed and upset. And that's all he wanted them to see of him. When he was calm enough, Lye released the embrace, did his famous chin hold (he held her chin with his forefinger and thumb, and held it up slightly so they could look into each other's eyes) and kissed her forehead. He made his warming smile and turned back to the cash. "Right. Well, it does sound like we're going to be eating well tonight. We might finally have enough to feed all six of us. Speaking of which, have you seen the others? Other than Bella, since we just saw her." Lye started collecting the money, putting it into a pile. He'd wait and see about this other boy, see if he was trustworthy or not. Lye doubted it.

Baby-Doll got to the end of the driveway and stopped her happy dancing footsteps. SHe looked at the street and decided she was not ready to go out there yet. So she immediately turned back around and bounced back into the house. She looked through the kitchen and grabbed her favorite soda Dr. Pepper and plopped herself on a barstool. She drank it, oblivious to anyone else in the house at the moment, enjoying the sweet melody blasting into her hears.

Isaac got up from a floor in a backroom, where he had been sleeping. He walked to where other people were. "Umm Good morning?" He said softly not knowing exactly what time it was or anything. "Umm What time is it?" He said rubbing his eyes.
