Jaime smiled. His voice was weak...very uncharacteristic. Nobody had ever offered to help him. He was very happy to have not mercilessly slaughtered this ally.
"I would enjoy some company, if you have the time...company elsewhere. The sea is growing cold." He grabbed his cane and stood, tapping the edge of the dock so he wouldn't miss it and fall in.

"Sure." Carlos nodded. "I don't know of anything around here yet, though. You'll have to pick the place."

"Of course I can," Jaime said, starting off, "What are you in the mood for? A walk? Rest? A meal?" Oh, he hoped not.

"Walking is fine. I ate a big breakfast." Lucky for you, Jamie!

So down the street they went, Jaime offering his hooked arm to Carlos. Would he help him down the street? Of course Jaime would make it safely himself (there would be a flash of green, and he could cross), but he wanted to know.

Carlos gently took it and waited until everything was clear before helping him across. He was a nice man!
"This is a nice little town."

"Indeed it is," Jaime said with a nod, smiling secretly to himself.
"I'm afraid there's not much to do but shop, unfortunately. I come here, though, because I live even further from civilization."

"Mmm. I'm from a large city, myself. I'm doing an article for the travel section. Myths and whatnot." He sighed. "Big city, but it's just me and Kittycat."

"A cat. Cute." Also not very delicious.
"I'm afraid I wouldn't last very long in a big city. Cars and people everywhere, not caring who they run over, only where they're going." Life always seemed to pass him by, but it was even more dangerous in a big city. He had lived in London for a time, and he'd been caught. That wasn';t a good time.

"It's very lonely sometimes, even though you're surrounded by people." Carlos gave a small smile.
"Kittycat's pretty cute. My landlady's feeding her while I'm out."

Jaime nodded.
"We have more myths than the vampire, you know. We...we are a very superstitious town."

"We have a ghoul. An eternally hungry beastie that feeds on rotting corpses," Jaime said, giving a laugh that may seem condescending but was in fact rather fond, "That's why they say our cemeteries are all sinking."

Carlos gave a little shudder. Gnnn. Ghoulies.
"Sinking because the bodies are gone?"

"Because the bodies are gone and the coffins are destroyed. Something strong enough to rend metal is eating our deceased." Oh, Bas, you crazy eastern-European ******** seen it, but if kids sneak into the newer cemeteries to...tip over stones or...do...things...well, they seem to always end up running screaming or missing."
