Caroline finds herself face-to-face with an oncoming wagon. Nimbly, she jumps out of the way. "Good morrow, friend!" She hails him, waving an arm. Her skirt clicks, drawing Rojiza's ever-wandering attention.

He stopped Slaine blinking as he almost ran someone over, er, oops.
He looked down at Caroline and Rojiza, "'Allo to you too, Miss. I trust no one is hurt?" He gave a small frown and looked at Annjette who just grinned back at him.
Slaine didn't seem too upset over the abrupt stop and took to nibbling on some grass near by.
"Don't suppose you know of a place a gent and his little friend could perhaps have a bite to eat. I seem to have run out of provisions." He went on to explain.
Annjette slightly curious just kind of peeked over Voltaire over at Caroline and Rojiza. They seemed familiar, but otherwise she was silent.

Leshya'e leaned out the back window of Varekai and spotted Caroline speaking with someone. hearing the mention of food, she waved her hands to the both of them, "Is someone hungry? I was just about to fix something...care to join me?" She smiled and waved both of them to come around to the front of her wagon.

"Oh, no," she says cheerily, waving her hand. "We aren't hurt." She hears Lesh's offer. "My friend is offering to share her meal with us," she says, "Care to join?" She asks. "My name is Caroline Rainiera, by the way," she says, dropping an eloquent curtsy (without so much as disloging Rojiza), "And this is my daughter, Rojiza." She indicates Rojiza by patting her on the head.
Rojiza had noticed Anjette, and peers curiously at her. Familiar...

He nodded a bit, "Fair 'nough." Voltaire replied vocally, glancing down at Anjette, "I'll introduce myself and my friend here when your friend introduces herself, so that way we don't have to re-repeat ourselves." The man laughed.
Annjette raised up a small feather bedecked arm and wiggled her finger toward Rojiza once eyecontact was made.
When Voltaire shifted and got down Annjette was quick to crawl over and grab onto the shoulder of his shirt.
"Come now, Duckling. You know I won't leave you. I was going to pick you up." He replied in a caring fatherly tone. It appeared he had also grown attached to her. Voltaire wrapped his arms around the girl and picked her up gently, as Annjette's arms went about his neck.
"Lead the way?" He smiled, "My horse and wagon will be alright here. Slaine knows what to do in case of trouble."

Leshya'e rummaged a bit more around Varekai, then exited with a skirt full of apples for the group to snack upon. "Hello Caroline...Rojiza..." She bowed her head and smiled, then extended her hand towards the traveler and the familiar child. "Hello, I'm Leshya'e...and that's Anezka...care for an apple, while I get lunch together?"

"Gracias," says Caroline, bobbing her head at Leshya'e and taking the proffered apple. She pulls out a pocketknife and slices off little bits for Rojiza, while munching on the apple herself.
Rojiza, not particularly hungry, scampers down from Caroline's shoulders, using her mother's clothing as anchoring, and goes over to Anezka. She jumps on the rabbit-girl, chattering away at her friend as she hugs her affectionately.
"So, traveller," says Caroline to Voltaire, swallowing her bite of apple, "Who are you, and where are you headed?" She asks in an amiable tone. She keeps an eye on Rojiza and Anezka--Ro's been known to play rough.

Voltaire blinked but nodded, "Thank you ladies. Good to meet you both." He accepted Lesh's hand, shaking it, while holding onto Annjette with his other arm, he then accepted an apple from her when offered.
"Well, I am Voltaire, and the duckling here is Annjette."
Annjette became suddenly shy and buried her face into Voltaire's neck. The man laughed and nudged the top of her head lightly with his chin, "Come now, child. At least say a hello!"
Annjette slowly raised her head and uttered a soft, "'Llo,"" before she retreated again.
Voltaire chuckled and shook his head, "As to where we are going? I do not know. I am new to this land and have lost my caravan. I found this little one crying and lost as soon as I got here." He nodded to Annjette who stubbornly hid her face.

Anezka smiled and clapped her hands, patting Rojiza's shoulder.
Leshya'e nodded and placed the rest of the apples down, "Nice to meet you...both of you...If you'll excuse me, i must get back to preparing lunch" She smiled and bowed her head, retreating back into Varekai. That child is so familiar...and look at her...she just has to be a Fortunette.

"Of course," she murmurs to Lesh. She turns to Voltaire and Anjette. "I'm enchanted to meet the both of you," she says, a sincere smile upon her face. "Hello there, Anjette," she says, patting the dark head. "Aren't you the pretty one?" She smiles maternally. Hearing a cry from behind her, she turns to her own charge. "Rojiza! Que te dijo? Juegas simpaticamente!" She says in a mildly chiding tone.
Rojiza sticks her tongue out at her mother's turning back, but calms down nonetheless.

Voltaire nodded, "I am glad to meet you all as well. I look forward to sharing a meal with you" he replied as Lesh left, Though, I have noticed that the children here seem to be a little like Annjette in that they have differing animal-esque features. I half wonder if Annjette came from here and got lost?"
Voltaire spoke this with a certain unease to his tone, if she did come from here, perhaps her parent is still here. Where would that leave him? Probably alone again. Though the unease in him seemed to relax chuckling at the interaction between Rojiza and her mother, "Quite a handfull you have there."
Annjette peeked at Caroline, a violet eye not glaring but more curious. She blinks it once and a small shy smile crept upon her face she murmurs back, "You pretty too."
Voltaire smiled down at Annjette, if he had to give her back to a parent he'd ask if he could at least stay and watch her grow up, no matter how much it'd hurt to let her go.

Leshya'e whistled happily as she came back outside, holding a large wooden bowl. Inside the bowl was a lovely salad of fresh fruit and a few edible flowers. In her other hand was a loaf of wheat bread. "Here we are, something light but filling...Caroline, do you happen to have some extra bowls in your wagon, I'm afraid I only have two."

Caroline blushes despite her natural state of ease. "Och, how precious!" she exclaims in the exact tone of a mother. Smiling at Voltaire, she casts a backward glance at Rojiza. "A wee bit of a handful, si, but I love her all the same." Looking up at Leshya'e's request, she nods. "Och, aye. I've my father's talent for holding onto things. Just a bit and I'll be back with a few." Leaving Rojiza in Ani's quite capable company, she ventures back to Mountain Air. Cornelius brays delightedly at her arrival. "Hello to you too, ye bonny lad," she says, pausing to scratch his chin. She rummages around in her wagon before emerging with four bowls--the two she and Rojiza normally eat from and two others. All are wooden, but ornately carved and stained in hues of purple, green, and red. Tucking them into her skirt, she knickers at Cornelius before heading back toward Lesh's wagon and the awaiting crowd of hungry people and Fortunettes.

Lorelei had been staying in this wagon and that for some time now, silent and reserved. She hadn't spoken a word aloud since Shamira's disappearance some nights before, and she certainly looked the worse for wear. Her braid hadn't been replaited, she hadn't changed out of her dress, which some kind soul had patched up for her, and she'd barely slept.
Now, she'd wandered from whoever's wagon she'd been staying in. Perhaps she should just leave - after all, who wanted a girl who couldn't pull her own weight, who simply took up food and room? She should check when they'd arrive at the next town. Yes, that might be a good idea.
Idly, she fingered the small finger cymbals Shamira had left behind. They dinged softly as they struck one another, and she flinched at the noise, stilling them.

He didn't seem to mind letting his unanswered question hang in the air. Voltaire's attention was momentarily distracted by a soft dinging sound. His cyan colored eyes fell upon Lorelei, whom seemed to have seen better days. He gave her a kind smile before looking back toward Lesh and Caroline who where busily getting food.
Annjette had ceased her hiding and was now looking at the other two children, with a small tilt of her head and an idle sort of stare, but it was friendly.
