Edelweiss was short behind Silverbirch, alighting on a branch a few away from the others, but near enough to the opening. His feathers puffed against the cold and his eartufts jerked about, buffeted by the wind. Was no one going to get in from the weather? It hadn't occurred to him at first that they might be looking for their companions. He'd seen the mus on Silverbirch's shoulder, but didn't know it had fallen.

The least he could do would be to get a better look into the shelter. Just because they hadn't seen anything from the air didn't mean there really was nothing in the hollow. He hopped onto the correct branch and shuffled towards the opening. As he neared, a particularly strong zephyr caught him, making him go so far as to flap a wing to keep balance. Hmm. He hoped the place was empty.

Peering into the hollow, he saw nothing at first, and so he took a tentative step into the woody space, alert for anything in the corners.

Moonstride watched Edelweiss silently as he inspected the hollow tree. Satisfied that the first of her team has just about settled in, she looked Silverbirch, who had unfortunately found a tender branch to land on. The elite fluttered down towards Silverbirch when hearing the scout gave a light hoot out. Although it did not seem like she was overly alarmed, Moon edged closer to Silverbirch anyhow. "Is everything alright?" She called over the light gust of storm.

Just as they were conversing and such, a dark form suddenly appeared to shoot to from the middle of the storm. The small bird-looking creature was none other than Rave, Moonstride's Lani companion. The bird of prey unfortunately miscalculated the distance and flew right into the puff of feathers known as Silverbirth. The Lani gave a light screech in alarm before diving to the side where Moonstride stood quietly. "Oh! There you are, Rave," the aberrant muttered in amusement and slight relief. "Where have you been?"

Rave fluttered down to the branch and settled himself quite close to Moon. The elite opened her wing a fraction to keep most of the wind away from the smaller bird. "Food!" the lani said simply as it revealed a half-eaten mouse between his claws. Moon blinked in surprise. Apparently, he got hungry and actually managed to find something in this crazy storm.

"Oh yes," Birch called back, "My mus kinda went missing, that's all."

The words had barely left the scout when something small (fortunately) plowed into her. Silverbirch turned sharply to face the 'threat', feathers starting to fan out when: "Oh."

It was just Moonstride's lani. Birch had noticed the little companion following them, and guessed it belonged to the elite from its markings. The scout relaxed, feather sleeking back to normal. So Moon was looking for her companion, this Rave, as well. Which reminded Birch, she had to look for her mus which, unlike the bird of prey, could not possibly fly back to her from wherever he curently was.

Nodding to Moonstride, Silverbirch was just about to excuse herself when the sight of the mouse caught her eyes. She was staring now, at the limp figure in Rave's talons. Through the storm the sentinel could not tell its color, but what she could see was that it was dark, very dark, and that it could just be her mus. At this thought, Silverbirch turned a few shades paler underneath all her feathers. But then again, it could possibly be just a mouse, but the storm and the earlier flight had all but frozen every bit of sense in the young adult.

"That looks like Feathers!" She blurted, pointing a talon at Rave.

What she did not know (or noticed) was the fact that said Feathers was in the snow directly below them. The mus had indeed fallen off during the landing, and was now valiantly making his way back to his owner.

Edelweiss had stepped a little further into the tree when the commotion over the Lani and the Mus went up, and over the roar of the wind he couldn't make out what was being said. No one was yelling, so he didn't concern himself...The shadows in the hollow were deep, especially with his bulk blocking what little light got in. His eyes were sharp though, and in the far corner he saw...nothing. "All clear. The site's clear!" He called over the gale, stepping back out and to the side to let the others in. It was then that he noticed the bizarre way that Silverbirch was pointing at...something under Moonstride's wing?

He took a step towards the pair on the branch, grimacing into the wind and digging in talons to hold his perch. "Everything alright?"

It seems Moonstride's companion wasn't the only one getting lost. The elite allowed a small sigh as she glanced around, searching over the branches around in hopes that the mus had just accidentally slid off Birch unnoticed. However, before Moon managed to spot the mus below them, Birch blurting something out suddenly which caused Moon to jump and glance up at the scout. Blue eyes followed the pointing talon to Rave.

Rave, on the other hand, had been mighty proud of himself for his successful hunt. He was also eagerly awaiting the chance to offer the other half of his mouse to Moon and receive the praise he knew he deserved. However, suddenly, the fluff of feathers he ran into (i.e. Silverbirch) was suddenly pointed at him and saying something about feathers! Rave took this as a sign of aggression and instantly proceeded to protect his kill from this new threat. He puffed out his feathers and flapped out both wings to make himself bigger. "Mine!" He screeched. With Moonstride by his side, he would not be defeated.

Moonstride, however, frowned at the Lani's antics. She opened her beak to settle Rave down; however, before she managed the words, she was interrupted by Edelweiss right when the older scout moved towards them. "Perhaps a misunderstanding," she directed towards both scouts. Then, she finally returned her attention back to Rave. "Rave," she snapped at him in a commanding voice, "Let me see."

Rave seemed very upset by the whole thing and shrunk back closer to Moonstride's wing. However, under the heavy glare of the sentinel, he very slowly and reluctantly released his death grip on the mouse for them to inspect closer. Both him and the elite moved back, offering Birch a better view.

Silverbirch quickly withdrew her talons, eartufts flattened. She mentally berated herself for the slip and her unchecked behaviour. The young scout nodded to Edelweiss as he approached, before returning her attention to the rightfully angry and upset companion. Leaning forward cautiously, Birch's eyes looked for the tail and spotted... nothing. The lower part of the mouse had been eaten and was completely missing. Frowning, the mist took care to hide the growing discomfort as her eyes travelled to other parts of the carcass, especially the muzzle. To her horror, it was there. Two white spots, right where she had dyed on her mus!

"White dye," Silverbirch stated in a sigh, shoulders drooping and waving a paw at the black figure. She took a step back, looked at Rave and Moonstride, and added in resignation, "He can have it." What's done could not be undone. Turning, she started making her way towards the hollow Edelweiss had just inspected earlier.

Little did it occur to her that the white 'spots' could actually be snow. Or, more importantly, the fact that the mouse was a bit too small to be a mus.

Edel watched the scene unfold intently, but from a distance. It wasn't his business, and there was likely nothing he could have done anyways. When Silverbirch seemed to sag, seeing the white, he turned to go. that was that then, nothing doing. But then...as he had looked back towards the hollow he'd spotted something. A...mus? He glanced back. "You're sure you're not looking for that fellow?" He nodded at the poor mus wha was still climbing.

That done, he made his way back to the shelter, bent against the wind with each step. He paused at the opening. It'd probably be best to get Silver in the deepest, furthest from the gale...He looksed back to see if the pair were coming. Distantly he wondered if the Lani would join them. Possibly.
