There was a loud knock on her doors, and Genoveve was at first startled. Her eyes had been closed for what seemed like a few seconds. Had she fallen asunder while her emotional fit came to a halt? The pounding ache in the back of her head had reached the maximum it could in measures of pain, and Genoveve had to raise her hand and gentle massage her temples. It registered again that her door had been knocked upon as it happened a second time, harder than before. 'Please stop doing that...' she thoughtfully declared to her own personal self.

Openeing the door, Genoveve came face to face with both Dredge and Panik, who were looking at her with the most confused faces she had ever seen them wear.

"I am sorry Captain. But our course has been set, and we will be arriving in Dublin within the hour." Dredge sounded her arms at her sides, fully at attention. Panik had her arms folded as if she were cold in some way, but there was no reason to blame, it was lightly raining after all.

It was Genoveve's turn to stare at them strangely, why had they almost reached their destination in just a matter of a few minutes? That had to be incorrect, a general error made by pilots when the clouds were darkened and it was hard to comprehend the direction.
"How is that possible? We have only been on course for maybe half an hour?" The captain closed her door slightly, to hide the proof of her rage, the ink still slowly making its way down the side of her wall.

Dredge and Panik looked once at each other, and then back to their beloved captain, and it was this time that Panik spoke first.
"But... Captain. We have been on course for over three hours..." Her eyes were so stricken with worry for her captain, she had not been herself once the Galvan issue had been dealt with. Perhaps there was more to the scroll's origin than meets the eye. It was not her place to question, however.

"Three hours?" Genoveve raised her voice not entirely in anger, but also in awe that truth finally came to light: she had been sleeping after all. Genoveve had not been allowed sleep since the loss of her beloved Isaac. Her dreams and nightmares both wrapped themselves completly around him and everything about him. He was all she could think about, since his strange turn for death. "I apologize for I did not mea..."

"Captain. There is another matter that needs your attention direly." Dredge interrupted her, she did not fear her captain so breaking her sentence was like breathing. The three of them were close, as they could be, since Genoveve was not the most open individual, but she treasure their lives over all.

"What would that be?" Her eyes curiously glittering.

"Our spies have sent us wind that the other scroll you have been waiting to achieve has been stolen." Panik lowered her head, afraid that they would be punished for having such a thing happen while on their watch. They had been following a direct pattern to collect all of her stolen information, and the final document was last on the list. Genoveve had ordered spies sent to each location, in which they would be picked up once the airship had finally made it's rounds. What happened to the spies? Why did they not attack?

"What!?" Anger was coursing through her veins, she could feel its poison gripping her every artery, hounding her every blood vessel. Above all, she wanted to drive a blade through someone's neck and there was little she could do to remedy that feeling. "You get me the information now! What happened!?"

"We don't know Captain. All we know, it is currently being stolen from the one who had stolen it Captain."

What was Genoveve going to do about this travesty?

The sound of machinery amd mechanisims was like unto a Symphony, the heavy machinery keeping the time while a white coat garbed figure was moving amounst the moving parts in itricate motions like some sort of dance, turning wheels, flipping switches, and proforming all sorts of actions as the seeming song went on.

This interaction of sound and motion continued for several minutes till apparently finishishing, like a conductor with an orcestra building to a rising finish flipped over a massive switch and most of the sounds were drowned out by a deep rooling sound.

The figure stepped back from its work and then with a satisfied nod turned around and exited the room full of moving machinery and noise. Once outside with the heavy door shut behind it blocking the noise to mearly tolerable levels the figure took off its protective equipment from its head and was met by another figure.

Draqx worked hius jaw and yawned to try and get rid of the feelings of having the dampening ear peices in place and nodded to the plant supervisor walking towards him. The shirt and vest clad persons face was that of near sheer relief, as the machinery sounds were starting back up throughout the plant. The noise was building up and the figure in the pinstripe pattern gestured to the white coated one to set towards the office, where they could discuss things in relative quiet.

"Thank you ever so much for doing this favour, I thought that the plant would be shut down for another week or two, and with the pressure coming down on me, well it will be good to get things up to full speed again, and the workers back to thier jobs, they have families to feed, and I do not think I could have held on to them waiting another week, if we really knuckle down we can still make quotas and not get penaties this quarter. I really cannot say how much I can thatk you."

The pinstriped vest clad person was very relived to have the familiar tempo of the plant back up, and from the office one could allready see the coverall forms of the workers starting back up thier trade. The person in the white coat took off the thick gloves from the hands and stuffed them in one of the side pockets, then unbuttoned the top part way to help against the heat of the plant, even felt here in the office.

'No problem, I know how hard it can be working with deadlines and such, and with the hold on the shipment for spares due to that storm damaging the lift bag last week, well it would have been a while considering where it landed for reapirs to get done, and transfeering it to another ship is out of the question so... Well anyways, the Society is allways willing to lend a helping hand. Though after you get your spares in, I would advise making sure you do the refit and upgrade comletly and not rushing, I saw signs of rushin the installation of the last refit while I was in there, and that has caused a bit of wear and tear on some of the parts, I replaced them do not woory, the old parts are near the door in that room ready to be moved. taking an extra few hours to make sure that its done right will save you so much trouble.'

The two continued talking for another quarter hour before the white coated one left, waving to the workers that waved at him, at work once more, and making up for lost time. Draqx chuckled to himself as he walked to his personal transport, a small lift bag and gondola, with a woodstove sized boiler engine. Draqx did a short prefilght inspection, the small craft simple to maintain and use, and then after just a short moment for the pressure to build up, was off back to his rooftop abode, where he planned to relax and gave a good cuppa tea in congradulations to a job well done.

Victoria sighed, already her small bit of pleasure wrung out from her body. Happily there were always smucks abounding in London to siphon pleasurable nights from. Conversely Victoria had to keep upping the ante to play the game. Either the he’s were getting smarter, or she was getting bored with the fantastical. She doubted it was the first of the two options; of course she had been wrong before.

The very idea of being wrong, how absurd! What felt like a seemingly endless fountain of bubbling giggles erupted from Victoria’s beautiful mouth. If ever in her life she was wrong, truly wrong, no one had been brave enough to point it out. Then a reasonable thinking person could only assume that Lady Victoria Elizabeth Lonsdale was never mistaken.

Suddenly Victoria felt as if someone had given her lacings a good hard tug. “So you thought was funny you little whore?” “Excuse me, but do I know you? For surely you do not know me or you would not allow such filthy to pass your lips in my presence.” Victoria snorted indignantly, and frankly rather calmly. Some strangle well dressed man was holding her upper arms in his hands pressed against the walls. When the man started to turn from what she could tell several shades of red and finally purple the Victoria fought hard to retain her composure. Surely loosing it and laughing in the man’s face would only serve to make matters worse.

“So forgetful after I just paid your little debtor in the gambling hall.” He snarled pulling her off the wall and slamming her hard against the bricks. There was a faint throbbing in the back of her head and Victoria took a sharp inhale. Ah yes of course little Lord Nobody of the evening. “Oh that… at least they didn’t break you to badly, only your pocket book.” Frankly if a man wanted in with her that amount would have to be mere change to him.

“All I wanted was for you to bat your eyes at me and giggle after sharing a kiss.” He growled lowly pressing his body against hers his manhood pressing into her hip. “Now I think you owe me.” He finished releasing her to fidget with his trousers.

“You really are a cad of the worst kind. You know that was a rather small amount to what I am capable of draining in a session of gambling. Now you think that inseey amount of money entitles you to my maidenhood in a dirty alley?” Victoria asked snorting shaking her head. “Shut up!” The man screamed at her trying to shake her against the wall again.

“I think not little Nobody, and here it turns out you can not even rape correctly what a failure you are.” She spat at him. His face turned ashen like the burned remains of a cigarette. Perhaps it was Victoria’s words, but more certainly it was the fact that things had changed. His member was no longer pulsing against the softness of her hip, now it faced the cold silver of her dagger. “I think we are quite finished here. Would you not agree?” she asked tilting her head to the side asking sweetly, she could have very well just asked him how he takes his tea.

The man nodded and backed away slowly holding his hands up in defense. “Oh honestly, you are scared of little old me just because I could gut you like a fish. How drool, I recommend weighing your options now. I could call the constable and have you arrested, or mayhaps you could go back from wince you came a little wiser for the experience.”

Victoria took a content sigh watching the ashen man scramble from the alley way. Two thoughts ran through her head as smiled painted itself on her cupid’s bow. One she hoped she hadn’t just cost little Lord Nobody his first heart attack. Two perhaps the night wasn’t such a bust after all.

Hours later.
It didn't take them too long to respond to Samuel's rash actions.

Samuel was all by his lonesome, save for the boy who was strung up by his legs, and hanging from the ceiling. There was a bucket under the boys head, blood filled it half way. There wasn't much blood in the human body to begin with, and a majority of it was now in the steel below.

They had come after him, and he had told them not to, didn't he? He wasn't so sure right now if he had or not. Didn't matter, they should have known off the bat. If he held a hostage, he would keep them in a pristine condition until he knew he was safe. They should have known better. He thought it was funny though, he was sitting down having a nice cup of tea with the boy only a few minutes ago. Why did they have to ruin his supper so rudely? It wasn't something they had to do, he was but an hour from letting the boy go, after all. He would have had Wrath in the area by then and would be in the safety of it's hull by now.

"Mindless thugs", he whispered as he walked towards the body that hung limply from the lines, it only made him feel sorry that the boy's father was so stupid to try something so trivial.

He reached up and tugged on his shirt, which initiated the hook's system. The boy lowered until he met the floor, Samuel then lay the boy out and closed his eyes. The gaze of the dead, it was a funny thing, in some, he enjoyed it, in others it appalled him. His eyes had glazed over, milky in appearance, much like every other person left in his wake. Around him there were scattered bodies, mostly thugs who had come in to kill Samuel and one of a man who stumbled in here trying to play the hero. Samuel tried to tell the man that he was not in the wrong, but the guy had insisted at firing a pistol at him. It was provoked, or so Samuel thought, either way, the man had called for the reaper himself.

Above were the sounds of a whining engine, Wrath must have arrived finally.

Samuel opened the large steel doors and walked out side, it was a bit chillier than he remembered. He walked back in for a moment and grabbed at the long cotton coat he had left draped over a bin. Both arms slipped into their respective holes and he reached into the pocket, looking for the reassuring rosewood grip of Envy. It was just where he had left it, as was Greed, and with that he smiled. He exited once more and looked upwards, the ship was a beauty, and very dangerous, worth the title of Wrath. Seconds later, another of those peculiar steel rods fell from the sky, Samuel's hand shot out to catch it. As soon as his skin touched the cold metal, it whirled to life, steam shooting forth from the end and propelling him into the night sky.

He landed with a thud and quickly found his way to the interior of the ship. The men and women he had as a crew were very nice people, not the ones he would hunt down and kill, of course. He found them to be the purest of souls he had ever met, therefor, he offered them a different life. A life of piracy and freedom. He would give them the world and an eternity to explore it.

He smiled as he was greeted by his first mate, Lauri, the man was barely in his twenties, but showed great promise. He was a peppy young man and his heart was in the right place. He shook the man's hand and smiled, "Thank you Lauri, today was a good one, no?", he said with a bit of laughter. The younger man smiled back and replied quickly, "A regular Waltz for Venus, sir". Samuel smiled again and patted the boy on the head, it was about time to get on with the next mission. Wherever the next document was, he was going to need to hurry up, Dr. Hester...well, Madame Genoveve would soon be searching for them. And if he was to meet his means, he would need them as bartering tokens.

"Where are we headed now, sir?", Lauri asked with the same smile spread across his face. Samuel grinned slyly and laughed, the man was a curious one. "If you are so interested in that, why not ask Arrow, he will tell you", he began with the same sly grin, "Won't you Arrow?!", he yelled to the other member of his crew.

Another of his crew shot up and slammed his hands down on the control panel before him. His face was quickly turning red, it was the usual reaction Samuel received from that particular name. "My name is Eero, Samuel!", the boy screamed, "and I would think you would respect your navigator more than to mistake his name so very often!". Samuel took a few steps toward Eero and smiled, he found this reaction very entertaining.

"Oh, sit down Eero, you know I was only kidding", he said with a passive smile on his face, "You've have been with me how long now? I should think you know better than to take me seriously".

Eero quickly shut up and sat down before muttering, "arrogant p***k", which brought forth another of Samuel's fits of laughter. Eero stood up again, and walked till he stood before Sam. "Sir, please, I would like it very much if you could treat me with a bit more respect...I think I deserve that at least", he said in a calmer tone then before. He went back to sit down and went back to busily pushing switches and pulling levers, bring the ship into it's proper direction.

"Sir?", came from a small boy of barely seventeen, his frail body seemed as if he would fall apart at the first sight of violence. "Aki? what is it son?", Samuel questioned in the softest tone he had ever used. The boy smiled and ran to meet with his captain's gaze. "Sir? you have a bit...of red on you", he said as he pointed toward Samuel's shirt. His gaze shifted downwards to the blotch of blood at his collar. "I wonder how that got there?", Samuel said with a smile, he knew it had come from his own self inflicted wound. Under the dark material of his shirt, there was a deep gash into his collar bone. Samuel would have to have that looked at later, now wasn't the time.

The wierd young boy leaned forward and lapped at the blood, then returned to his stiff stance. He was a questionable one alright, but it wasn't a sight that was uncommon to the crew. The boy was very...attached to Samuel, in some instances professing his love for his captain with lust in his voice. Though, Samuel smiled and kindly declined the love, only asking for his friendship and assistance in his work. The boy had once been so bold as to steal a kiss from his captain's lips while he "slept".

Samuel smiled and brush a bit of the boy's dark brown hair away from his face and pushed it behind his ear. "I will ask you and Pualie for a some help, later, alright Aki?", he said with a smiled, pointing at where the blood had been before. Aki was his medical officer, and Paulie was the other boy's older brother, who also helped with tending the injured or sick.

"I will be in quarters should any of you need me, is that clear?", he said as he turned towards the innards of the ship. He needed to rest, and to think a bit about his next move, before he made it. Then he would have his younger member's take a look at his wounds, they would have him fixed up right quick and in a hurry. The crew stood and saluted him as he left the room, but before the door slid shut, he heard Eero smack Aki, "why do you do that? that is so ******** wierd!". Samuel wanted to laugh but found it to be too much of a strain on his body at that point. As he entered his room, he found his way to the bed and fell face first into it and slowly rolled onto his side, his body to heavy to move much more now.

"Genoveve, what will you do now that you know I have it? Will you come looking for it? or will you leave me be to collect the others?", he asked of no one. The sound of his voice lost to the droning of the engines.

Draqx landed on his rooftop and with the work of a few moments collapsed the lift bag and cooled down the boiler, making sure to restock everything from conviniently placed containers, then with that done he stowed it all in a small shed and locked it.

With the personal transport dealt with he walked to the kitchen and started some water boiling in a kettle and got out the means to make tea. He saw that there was a note that messages had been left for him so he went to the spaking tube in the kitchen and giving a puff of air in it to make sure it was not blocked told that he was back and had recived the note about messages.

Draqx was fairly new to the RSSET, and all it entailed, one of the things being a butler familiar with the Society to handle details and such. Coming from a familt that never had one ment that Draqx still tried to do most things himself, but some things he did make consessions, such as looking after things when he was out and various other things he found himself to busy to do with his other tasks.

"I see you are back early, I take it that it went well then."

The butler handed Draqx over a small stack of paper and Draqx began reading them while enjoying his tea.

'Yes, it went well... hmm, whats this, a new assignment. Well I guess it was a good thing I finished up that other one. Though why all these other pages with it... look like copies of some sort of manuscrpt, though I do not reconize the style, wonder why they gave it to me... oh well, ours not to reason why.'

"Indeed, it is a bit of a puzzle, shall I take it to the study while you deal with the rest of the days messages?"

'Yes, thank you... looks like more of the usual... though that will be at the back of my mind till I get to it though...'

Draqx went through the rest of the mail and messages, taking a sip of tea every so often almost absent mindedly.

"Captain! I strongly advise against this! Please reconsider!" Panik scrambled to get the words out as delicatly as she could normally articulate. But something about Genoveve's chaotic nature brought Panik's vanity to it's knees. How could she blame the girl? Panik and Dredge had come from proper families, raised on etiquitte and beatitude, whereas Genoveve was raised on intelligence and said intelligence called for acts of undeniable suicide. Natures conflicted aboard the Jade Lady, more often than not, Genoveve was afraid. But that masked the general feeling of forbodding most held for their beloved Captain. They all shared something with her that made feel a certain love for her, and that is in part the reason most were a bit fearful when it came to her irrational thinking.

"I cannot agree with you more. I would like to reconsider, but the fact still remains: something of mine was taken, not once, but twice. I intend to get it back. Since the item belongs to me, I will go this one, alone. Do understand that." Genoveve was already nearing the depature hull, where many of the Dragonfly units were standing ready. Her leather gloves, on their respective hands, were concealing the barren flesh, as her feet drew her ever closer to the flying machine that would take her to her destination. Perhaps even her final destination, if God allowed...

Some of the crew gathered about their Captain's Dragonfly, their faces grim as if she already had a death sentence placed like a crown over her head. Though she hated to see them so distraught, it brought her solice. These women would have given her their very lives if she had asked. Homeless, classless, down-trodden, gifted, wealthy, any and all women in need of her love and care were found aboard her vessell. Genoveve often called her ship: "Judas," the patron saint of lost causes. For that is what they all were, lost causes, and Genoveve did not stray from it, she was the one who had invented such a thing. Her whole experimentation was said to have been just a, "lost cause," yet here she was, at the brink of discovery, so close to achieving what she desired. Only to have it stolen..

"Alright ladies! Listen up, I am only going to say this once, do you understand? I alone must go. I know that you think otherwise, but work has to be done and I am not going to risk your lives over something..." Genoveve paused. She was about to say unimportant. Though the document was held in high regards, it meant nothing if her crew was dead. It was a good word choice. "Unimportant. So. I am to get upon this metal contraption and get my information back. If I do not return, Paink, dredge?!" The two bowed their heads in acknowledgement. "It if your job to lead them. I love you all. I promise to see you soon." Genoveve waved goodbye, and the Dragonfly took off with the Jade Ladies most precious cargo..

******

The cordinates had been mapped out for her convience, and though the flight had been long and uneventful, Genoveve had made it on schedule, just as Panik had said she would, if the directions were followed as planned. The spies had pulled out for the time being, seeing as how they were not entirely needed. This stranger had eliminated the remaining threats. It was safe to say they were standing around taking up space. The ship itself, though no title could be matched to it's make was coming into view with every minute passing, Genoveve forced Dragonfly downwards to give her a more secure point of touchdown.

With her hair hanging well above her head, Genoveve allowed her feet to slip into the most peculiar pair of walking shoes known to mankind. They were bulky, and made of copper, with strange guages and the like all around them. Genoveve had used these once before, they allowed her to address issues in the hull's underbelly, such as cracks or leaks that would later turn problematic. High powered magnets allowed Genoveve and her crew to literally walk upside down under the vessell. It was the most strangest things. Each time pressure is applied to restepping, the magnent would let go, and once back down, would refire and stick to the metal being walked upon. They were genius, if she said so herself.

Archametes was activated, and he crawled down from her hair piece towards her feet. He was to be her eyes, since she could not just go waltzing onto a strange ship without knowing the contents or people therein. The little creature scurried across the metal plating until he was out of sight on deck, keeping a careful eye on what was going on where Genoveve's eyes were currently forbidden. Arcametes returned to Genoveve and back into her bow, after reporting the cost was clear.

It did not take long to quietly place herself upon the wooden pallet of the ship's body. To her left and right, she was alone. Perhaps it was going to be easier than she thought! Could it be that easy? To walk aboard and take what she wanted? Perhaps Genoveve though to highly of her situation, or she thought her thoughts aloud, right on cue, a guard was standing just as she was about to turn and begin her search. "Stole ways, not always a good thing lady." He announced, but she was too quick on the draw.

Allister was out, but this time, filled with an orange syrum, something different, something new. A timer had been added to the saringe. Genoveve decided when the injection was made, not the point of impact and the pressure from it. Right into his neck, the orange vial collided, piercing the flesh. Had he been anything less than a man, he would have screamed, instead, fell to his knees in agony.

"Ah ah ah! I wouldn't pull that out if I were you.." Genoveve waved her finger menacingly. The guard could only stare at her in fear.

"See. Pulling that out would mean a horribly painful death. Allowing it to flow into your veins, however, will speed up the process. That is Hydroclorpheem, highly potent. Nasty side affects though. But, I may be willing to share the antidote if you would be willing to point me to your captain?" Genoveve smiled and bent down close to the guard's face. "Well?"

With a shaking hand, he points, and Genoveve could only smile an even larger grin than before. "That's better love. Oh. And by the way, that is just a neuro-toxin. You will be in a nice deep relaxing sleep in approaximetly. He then falls to the hull's floor, his eyes closed and breathing steady. "Now." Genoveve steps over him and reholsters Allister, instead, retrieves Alexander. Keeping low, she ducks by crewmen and around potential hazards until she is almost certain she has found the quarters. Had the man been right about his directions, for his life's sake, he better have been...

"Sorry Captain... time to hand over the goods, or meet your maker." Wording the syllables with her lips, she was prepared for any and all that was lurking inside..... just needed the right moment to pop inside and pay a visit to this elusive stranger..

"Genoveve, Genoveve...", he tutted, the words came as softly as he could speak, "so eager to please", he whisper now with a stupefyingly suicidal grin smeared across his face. There was something outside of his door, and he had told his crew to stay away until he saw fit to leave, hadn't he? Oh well, guests were always welcomed, no?

He would be her host for the night, 'a very friendly host', he added in his head.

Envy and Greed were locked away for the night, letting them rest after a long day was a habit he thought he must grow out of. Pride was his only defense at the time being, though, he could make a dash for the box and retrieve them easily. Her entering his cabin was a factor though, would she wait to do so? did he have more than twenty seconds tops to get them before she riddled him with bullets? "No time for rationality, just move", he said calmly as he rolled to the foot of his bed and snapped the case open, drawing the two pistols and dropping Pride to the floor. It wasn't necessary anymore, and if he needed it, it was there.

Seconds later the door pushed open, Samuel aimed his guns and waited for her slender body to enter.

He was wrong though, it wasn't a woman at all, it was his friend tiny friend and admirer. "Jesus almighty, Aki, what did I tell you? I would come when I was ready...here you had me all excited...", he shouted, half relieved, and half scared out of his wits. "I am sorry sir, I just thought...you had fallen asleep and I wanted to take a quick look at your wounds before she should stage an attack on us, we do need our captain in tip top condition, sir!", Aki said with the same schoolboy grin he had had when Samuel found him torn and beaten on the streets of London. The boy had been beaten and molested, and by his own schoolmates, none-the-less. Samuel found him laying in a pool of blood and rushed him back to the ship and had stayed by his side the entire time, wishing and praying for the boy's recovery. When Paulie had told him the boy was sleeping, and he would be fine by the morning, Samuel smiled, kissed the boy on the forehead and promptly went back to the streets. He went on a vendetta of sorts, hunting down and tracking the people who would do such a thing to such an innocent young boy. With each murder, Sam left the words, "Forget-Me-Not", written in blood above their headboards.

"Fine, if it is the doctor's orders...then go ahead...", Sam said as he slipped out of his button up shirt, letting it fall down his torso. He hadn't let anyone know about the wounds, the boy just had a way of knowing. Aki worked over Samuel's chest as he ran a needle and threads through mmost of his shoulder and collar. Wincing every now and again, Samuel would laugh and squirm. When Aki asked about it, Samuel just smiled. "I remember when it was me watching over you....where did the time go?", he finally answered the curious boy's question.

When the boy had finished, he looked down at Samuel and sat next to him on his bed. "Sir?...what's wrong with me?", he asked in a confused tone, one he had never used before. "What do you mean, kiddo?", Samuel retorted quickly, he knew what was coming next. "I'm...different from the others...they treat me different, they pick on me, they...just...I don't know", he whispered as he put his chin in his hands, staring at the wall. "Ah, don't let it bother you, Aki, they are just so jealous of our relationship", he said as he threw his arm around the kid once more.

That was a bad idea, because the stitched came undone and blood started to seep through again.
"Dammit!!!!!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was resting again, leaving Greed and Envy right at his sides just in case, should the dear Doc show up and ask for a certain paper. He winced as he sat up, his shirt still laying on the floor, covered in his own blood. He hadn't lost too much, but it was enough to soak into the white fabric and stain it. "So much for that...I suppose I'll have to go to town to get another...", he said, very much disappointed in himself for letting the stitches rip open. He slipped over and dropped Envy into it's holster and then did the same with Greed, then pride took it's place right on the outside of his boot..
"Ah, much better, I don't feel so naked anymore", he said as he stretched one arm and left the other limp at his side. That could be a problem, hopefully one he could avoid for the night. Aki had numbed his arm to keep him from moving it to much, he prayed that the boy had not just condemned him to death by taking away one of his weapons.
He heard something at the door again and smiled slightly, Aki had said he was going to fetch a pot of tea for the captain.
It was a minuet later he called out for whoever was at the door, "Well, don't be a stranger, please, come in!", he yelled out and slung his good arm into his coat and gently lifted the other into it as well. He thought back to a day when Aki had thought it funny to slip a sleeping pill into one of his drinks before, Sam laughed a bit and hoped the boy was not pulling another of those tricks again. Though, when he did it last time, it was for a good cause. The captain had been in a state of insomnia for quite some time, and the boy thought it would help. It only provided the crew a chance to humiliate the captain, but only out of fun, not of spite.
"Come on, kiddo, I'm dying here!".
With Alexander and Allister drawn, waiting for the right time to pierce an open piece of flesh, Genoveve allowed her mind to wander over her plan again and again until it was embedded into her hindsight like a cancer, always with you, no matter how many times you tried to be rid of it. There were so many things that could go wrong in the matter of seconds, and this was one of those times. If her hand was shaky in any way, she could kill the creature beyond these doors, and thus, all hopes of getting her information returned to loving and brilliant care. They were like pieces of her dreams and memory, and anyone who was willing to steal those must have been praying for an early death. No one, NO ONE! Stole from Genoveve Paisley....
Dark eyes shot immediatly open when the doors she had been forcing her body to break into expanded, and a character exited, closing said doors behind his young frail body. 'Please don't turn around... Please don't turn around...' Her head began to whisper over and over as if having some mystical power that may have protected her from being spotted. This young child was not whom she had come to teach a valuable lesson. His adolescent demenor gave away his innocence, and Genoveve knew that he would not be a target of any kind. But then again... if he struggled through her negotiations, it would be a different matter all together.
Of course, he turned around, nothing could ever go right. Genoveve had Alexander pointed directly between his eyes long before he could open his mouth to speak. His eyes were frightened, and his body seemed to be shaking. Yes, innocent, no reason to smear his blood on this's massive vessel's hull. "Do you value your life?" Genoveve never moved an inch, it did not even seem like she was breathing, or blinking.
The kid himself was silent, but shook his head. "Smart boy. Do me a favor, you walk back to your room, lay your head down and pretend I was not here. I can promise this bullet is not for you... Don't make it otherwise..."
Mouthing, Genoveve could faintly make out the words, "Please don't hurt my captain..." So he cared about him, how sweet..
"You be a good little boy and do as I say, I will make sure you see your captain again..." With that, he slowly and gently made his way around the corner and out of sight. The estranged captain smiled, and heard the boy's captain on the other side of those beautiful doors she was standing directly in front of, her guns held to her sides. Her chest heaved in and out, angered to an extent she never felt she could, and took in a deep breath lifting her foot high into the air and breaking the doors inward, which was not in their make, the sound of wood cracking and splintering, as her quick hand holstered Allister and retrieved a most glorious copper sphere. Her fingers pressed a few of the hidden mechanistic activators and threw it into the unknown of the room beyond.
The sound of metal clanked over the wooden floor, and immediatly began to spin in fast precise circles, a strange melody echoing and exploding instantly, only this time, Genoveve was kind enough to use only a flash bomb. Great bright lights, giving her reaction time, depending on what kind of warrior of the skies he really was, if he was one at all...
Time would tell...
Within seconds, he saw the door burst open, a barrage of splinters showered him as he tucked his head safely into his arms and turned away.
"Play time already?", he said as he let a bit of laughter take him, he was rolling on the ground now, back to his case of gear. The soft goggles were pressed over his eyes in seconds, whatever was in the room now was meant to distort him, and he knew all too well to guard himself.
He dropped the protective eye gear and grabbed for Envy, she would protect him in a firefight, if it came to it. He only hoped it didn't, he would gain nothing from killing the woman who could help him reach his goals. He turned towards the door and aimed right for the center, 'please, don't do anything rash Geno-' he began to say as he remembered that his dear little doctor had left moments before. His eyes widened, she wouldnt kill him, would she? Oh god, all he could think about was getting away from his would be murderer to see if his young friend was alright. He holstered Envy and drew his beloved Greed, his old friend was always there at his side in a time of need.
"Dear Madame Captain? what have you done with the young one?!", he yelled out, hoping that he was not just shouting into nothingness, that she had not stolen away before he had a chance to confront her. He would find out if his crew were unharmed and then he would explain his "deal" to her.
His mind was frantic at this point, shooting back and forth between all of the possibilities. How could he avoid his death yet incapacitate her long enough? Maybe he could clip her knee with a bullet and run past and get some support from his crew to hold her. Maybe he would just shoot her in the shoulder and stop her from doing any further harm, if she had done any at all. He could use the bed, the nightstand or his record player as cover if he had no other choice, or if he couldn't get a round out before she did.
He overturned his bed as quickly as he could and sat behind it as he tried to slow his mind. Either he would have to slow it down or fall victim to impulse and rush from the room guns blazzing, and that could only bring about death, on his or her part. He began to feel a slight ease come over him, and then it hit him. He had to survive this encounter, otherwise, he would never find a way to see his love again.
During the confusion, Genoveve had ducked her nimble body behind an outstanding pillar used to hold up the ceiling in case of attack. Almost all ships had them, especially since the Captain's quarters were usually the largest and most decadent. Genoveve's was not foreign to this type of make either, in fact, The Jade Lady and Wrath, shared quite a few distinct traits that were so familiar, which made invading that much more... easy.
Archametes was released, just as he had before, and would act as her eyes on behalf of the fact she was not interested in being shot today, nor any day for that matter. She had enough bullet holes to satisfy her twisted sadistic tendancies. This Captain was alert, too alert, and perhaps she underestimated his strength and the value he held on his life. By the time the flash bomb completed it's chaotic dance with piercing lights, he had already concealed himself behind the sleeping mattress that had already been tossed about, had he been sleeping? How rude of her to barge in on his hour of slumber. Matter of factly speaking, Genoveve was due for said slumber herself. Three days without sleep was not a way to care for one's own body. But then again, Genoveve could care less about what would happen to the physical portion of her existence. It was just a fleshy shell entrapping her seemingly infinite soul.
'What have you done with the young one?' What was he referring too? Genoveve was silent whilest gathering her memory, had he been speaking on behalf of the child that she had scared into playing nice? That must have been it, for even that boy in the face of his potential death had expressed his desire for the safety of his captain. Genoveve was not about to make herself a liar just because some gentleman decided to get cocky, like most men were. But Genoveve had some sense of mercy and honor, and with that smiled to herself as glanced in the tiny mirror attached to Archametes. There he was... The captain squinted her eyes as if he was difficult to see, only that was not the case, in fact, he was far from what she had expected. Truthfully, Genoveve imagined an older gentleman with a big bushy beard and an attitude to spare. Only, he was young, almost handsome if she was in true woman fashion, relying on looks to pass judgement on the whole outfit of this... man.
"Young one? You do not give your cohort enough credit!" Genoveve began, making sure the barrell of her gun was cocked. "He was wonderful, did as I was told, and let me alone. You should be proud of his bravery, as it was something to honor! Though I cannot say the same for you!" She sneered, still watching his every move in the miniscule mirror, which was perfect for this occasion. "You have something of mine Monsieur. I intend on getting it back. Give to me what you have and I promise not to put a bullet between your friend's eyes, and leave you to pity over his lifeless body." Genoveve felt that was a bit harsh, but she was feeling a bit moody lately. Especially with all this theivery not on her behalf. What was the world coming too?
First, they condemn her for such actions, like trying to solve the mystery of death, and then proceed to take her life's work and call it their own. How could anyone possibly sleep at night knowing what they had done to her? What they had probably done to the world? Her life's work could save lives, maybe not only from death, but from sickness, and here, another MAN trying to take what was hers and do with it what he pleased.
"What is your verdict Monsieur? I don't want to kill you, but that wont stop me from hurting you beyond your most troublesome of nightmares, of that you can be sure!"
There was a scent in the air, like that you find in an the western towns on the America's, where the righteous sheriff and horrid gun slinging criminal would come to a showdown. He did not see either Genoveve or himself as the sheriff or the villain but he felt that it would suit them to be standing on a dust dirt road hands hovering over holstered pistols waiting for the tumbleweed to roll across their path before the killed each other. He dared to peek over the bed just once to reassure himself of her position and then he cracked a smile. Don't give him enough credit? I put my life in his hands everyday...how is that not enough credit? He thought as he moved his back into the cover.
He looked back at the trunk he had hidden his beloved guns before, the same one he had hidden the documents in. He would not give them up right now, nor would he give them to her without first striking a deal with her. There was something of a service he needed before he would just hand them over so stupidly. Did she threaten to murder the dear doctor? that would not do, not at all. He checked to make sure that both Envy and Greed were full of bullets before he slowly moved to the edge of his cover and poked Envy's nose around it. Now he would try for incapacitating her and then he would try, the key word there is TRY, to talk her into a bargain.
"Madame, I know well what you are after and what you will do for it, but...", he began to say as his finger clenched down on the trigger, not yet letting Envy scream to life. "Should you touch a single hair on any of my men or even threaten them, and I shall burn those documents without hesitation". It was a bluff, they weren't just important to her, but to him as well.
"I will not give them to you, this is my answer, take it or leave it", he said with a gleeful grin spreading across his face. She was riling him up and letting loose a typhoon of adrenalin. He wanted to go crazy now, to fire reckless across the room and run into her own barrage of flying lead.
He squeezed the trigger and opened his mouth just slightly.
"Bang".
