Selene frowned at his words, without any pups in the pack her abilities were hindered. She tried to smooth away her concern and looked at him seriously her lavender eyes darkening. She would do whatever it took to stay away from the Reign, to belong to a pack, to be useful once more.
"Unto every pack pups will come, and when they do I could be of great use...every pack has need of someone to teach, to aid, to be a comfort. I may not be the strongest, or most cunning, but I have always been the most caring and cautious. I know I can help you in someway...someday." Her words broke off as she tried to make them sound certain instead of desperate. She tried to lift her weary frame determined not to appear such a lowly omega before this strong male.

He listened to her words, agreeing on what she had to say, and contemplated inwardly just how long her stay would be. While she was taking refuge in Tomkin she could offer quite a bit. But how long would that be? Aguta was not opposed to having her join the pack as a brethren (albeit it was generally against his principle to take in someone as weak as she, even when she gave the effort to appear stronger before him), but was that her intention?
"How long do you intend on staying with Tomkin?" he asked her, wanting to calculate her effort with the pack and how much she would owe him, and yet not turn the table to the point he then owed her.
His eyes pulled away briefly. He remembered the relationship between two of his pack mates and agreed with Selene that pups would come. In the future, she would be very valuable. "I do desire an heir, and two of Tomkin are mated with the intention of having pups. Your skills will be a valuable resource."

Selene looked at him steadily and finally she spoke with her intention clear. "I should like to join your pack, to be a member of use..." She trailed off hoping that what skills she had he would find useful. His words comforted her though, for at least if there was a couple mated with intent to have pups then she would indeed be needed.
"Before the Reign destroyed my pack I kept the history, our traditions, the family lines. I helped to tend the youngest pups and as they grew I trained them in the ways of our pack...in the moonlit hunt."

"Hmm..." he murmured. So she did have intentions of joining his pack. He half wondered what the omega would have done if they had not met; would she have continued to search for a new pack to take refuge with and settle within? It mattered not, however, his curiosity was probably his strongest suit. What perked his interest further was, as she continued, that she mentioned history and tradition keeping. This was something Aguta was in fact looking for, believing thoroughly that stories and legends were an essential part of a pups growth, and Tomkin was lacking a record keeper.
"Moonlit hunt?" he asked suddenly, pinpointing that single last phrase. Exactly what was this? What sort of pack did she belong to before Reign of Terror destroyed her life? He doubted she could regain what she had before RoT, and hoped she didn't believe she would find everything she was looking for in Tomkin, but perhaps they could offer her a bit of normalcy...as much as the assassins could.

"Forgive me...The moonlit hunt was one of our pack traditions. We followed the moon across the sky, and each generation learned how the night sun affected our lives. We hunted when the moon was high in the sky illuminating all, this was called the moonlit hunt. When the moon was dark we fasted and turned to the low tides to fish. Things changed though...it was hard to teach the old ways when there were new ways coming in. A pack moved in near the sea and so we retreated closer to the meadows. Across the meadow came the Reign...and their King soon saw my pack extinct."
She looked down her voice quivering with unspilled emotions her violet eyes remained closed for a long moment before she opened them once more. She looked at Aguta a long moment before turning her head away.
"I am not foolish enough to believe that my pack might be restored...but I do hope I can find a place in a new one."

Aguta listened to her explanation, thankful for the slight description of her past pack, and was intrigued with their culture and traditions. It was always a pleasure of his to learn of the ways of other individuals, and though the doings of humans was his main interest, he always appreciated hearing tales of other wolves and how they functioned. Her pack included. Hunting on the full moon was an interesting tradition, and something he hadn't considered much before. For Aguta, a hunt was done at any time, regardless of the festivities.
"That's understandable, however do you feel that this pack is the right one for you?" he asked suddenly, pulling his eyes away to stare at the dark river, intrigued by the water lapping at the shore.
"Rested enough? I believe we should continue," he said suddenly, pulling up onto his paws to look back down at Selene.

Selene took a deep breath and nodded moving to follow him as he moved to his feet. She considered his question carefully her violet eyes shimmering with passing emotions. Her form slid beside his, tiny, petite, everything about her screamed at how fragile she looked. Yet she turned to answer him and her eyes blazed with the inner strength that had kept her alive through the Reign, the strength that only an omega could know.
"I know almost nothing of your pack, but I do believe that anyplace that is just and fair...is a pack that is right for me, a pack I can serve." She looked at him steadily certain of her words.

He continued walking, moving at a steady pace as Selene followed. Listening to her steps, he observed the land before them, still calculating their way back to the myriad of den sites within Tomkin. For now, he didn't wish to break into a run. Aguta didn't have to take notice of her size to know how much larger he was than her; it was curious, and it made him wonder if it was the treatment with Reign of Terror that left her in this state, or if she was naturally a rather small wolf. In his silence, he didn't bother asking.
"Some would call that unwise of you," he started, pausing briefly before continuing, "but it seems luck is on your side. You'll be safe with Tomkin and a valued member when you're able to pull your weight."
The large male trailed off, thinking of a new subject. "A name. You'll need a new alias while you live with us. You may tell the other members your true name, but like all that inhabit Tomkin, a code name will be needed for security reasons. Do you have anything in mind?"

"It does seem unwise, I know, but look at me? Look at them...what choice do I have?" She nodded softly at his words glad to know she would be with a pack safer then the Reign, granted her odds of that had been pretty high. The words 'valued member' made her push herself to keep pace with him. She had always been a valued member of her pack, despite ending up the smallest and weakest wolf in her pack she had made a place for herself.
"An alias...how about Moon?" She gave a wry smile and glanced at the sky a longing look on her face for a long moment before she snapped back to him. "I suppose Wraith is your alias? Why don't you pick one for me?" She looked at him curiously wondering what he would think to call her.

Her point was made and Aguta asked no more of it. If this was her decision, he trusted her to be aware of the consequences, and knew well she had already contemplated her options and was now following the path she felt was best for her situation. At least she thought fast on her feet. And it wasn't like Selene was making a mistake by joining Tomkin; while they were a pack of assassins, they were hardly barbaric.
He gave her a nod, glancing toward her as she suspected the name he had given her was also an alias. Of course he didn't diverge his name to anyone he hardly knew, no matter their situation or stature, it was all just procedure to him. But as she gave him the task of coming up with a name, he considered the options. Moon. Well, it seemed fitting...almost too fitting. Anyone could identify that name by the markings on her side. Would this become a problem? He hardly thought so, but always on the cautious side of things, the male quickly brainstormed for something along the lines of what she suggested, but with his own little twist.
"Would you use the name Yearn?" he asked her suddenly, looking back toward the dark teal female. It seemed like an odd name, but it made sense in his mind. Nature yearned for the light of the moon, its comforting stare, and the tides it offers during the night, and this female also yearned for a lost family and a new home.

"Yes, yearn will suit me perfectly...Thank You." For there is so much that I yearn for now, so many things. She held back a sigh and continued to follow him, her dainty paws skimmed at the earth so softly, so quickly that it was hard to tell if she had set foot at all. She noted how he had not admitted Wraith was his alias, of course since he had used one in the first place she couldn't blame him. Still a small part in the back of her mind was curious to know, but patience was not something unknown to her.
She glanced about as they walked, her violet eyes picking up of the details of the land. Now that she was not in a blind panic, running for her life she wished to see where her paws had carried her. Her gaze also crossed over the alpha taking in his posture and speed and strength wondering what kind of pack he led.

Aguta was glad she had accepted the name, but said nothing in return. He figured she had discovered the name he had given was also an alias, however, for the time being he didn't feel the need in revealing his true name, after all, a name is a name, and no matter what he was called, it would be his name. They continued forward, pulling forward toward the territory at a much easier pace than they had been before the river. Immediate danger seemed void; the large male had nothing much to fear for the time being. They moved along the landscape slowly, easing their way into Tomkin.
((Shall we end this here and continue in a new thread in the sub-forum?))
