Magmafang nodded and jogged ahead of her. He kept his eyes open and looked around the territory for anything that looked like a good escape route or a good place to ambush unsuspecting cats. He was so distracted doing this that he didn't notice the mud puddle in his way and he stumbled right into it.
"Ugh!" he yelped as the mud plastered itself uncomfortably to his fur.

Shimmerflight giggled, before making a mental note to look for something that could support as a thin rope, hard to notice and would be strong enough to trip unsuspecting cats into mud puddles. Cobwebs would work, but they'd have to be careful not to waste them as they would need a lot.
"When we do ambush cats we wanna look big as possible, and leaves should do the trick. Though, if we already have dried mud crusted into our fur I don't think they'll stick as well, and I'm sure you wouldn't want another layer of mud slabbed on." Quickly she began to lick his fur, trying to help clean off the mud.

Magmafang licked wherever Shimmerflight didn't, twisting his face in disgust at the taste of mud. Soon, though, he was pretty much clean, except for a few patches. It was good enough.
"Don't worry, I'm pretty menacing to begin with," he said, puffing out his chest and unsheathing his claws.
He looked to the mud puddle he had stumbled into. Would this area be a good marshy area?
"Hm... Where's a good place to ambush unsuspecting cats?"

"Sure you are, Fluffy." Shimmerflight licked her own fur a few times, getting the taste off her tongue. "Bleck..."
She looked around as the terrain. It was pretty swampy. Foggy, boggy, and some place a kit might not make out of alright. There were more trees than usual, so it provided good coverage. "This is a good place to flee to, a good place to ambush cats would be once where we can easily hide, with bushes, also a place where cats frequently hunt, so they're unsuspecting." She nodded and placed her tail on Magmafang's shoulder, "from here on I'm your mentor! Until you become a pro trickster at least nyah.~ :D"

"What? How do you know I'm not already a pro?" Magmafang said.
He flicked his tail and went on ahead, not waiting for Shimmerflight to order him around. But he found that he had trouble looking for a good ambush point.
I may be the best warrior, but I'm not a very good trickster, he thought, a little annoyed. Better let her take over.
He looked to Shimmerflight. "So... see any good places?"

Shimmerflight smiled, "because a pro always has ideas, and a pro always shares their ideas when they have any so the two can combine theirs to make an even greater scheme." She referred to when they were thinking of what kind of prank they should pull. Rolling her eyes as he went off looking she went gathering sticks and fallen shrubbery.
Padding back over, now dragging thin and long random plants and tree branches, she shook her head.
"Since we don't want our ambush point to be too far away from our hide out/fleeing point, I took a look at the terrain that surrounded it at a certain radius. Sadly the land is pretty barren. So, at times like these when we can't find what we're looking for, we make it." Dropping the bundle she nodded, "now help me set up some bushes and clumps over there so it can be our ambush point."

She's smarter than she looks...
"Won't this look too fake?" He asked, but he quickly answered his own question. "Then we'll just have to make them look awesome. We are pros, afterall."
Besides, it'll be dark.
He grabbed some branches and dragged them to the spot Shimmerflight had indicated.

Shimmerflight nodded and dragged branches over there as well, sticking the stem of them into the most stable earthy part of them she could find so they could stand up straight, while sticking others in the most marshy so they leaned over. For variety of course.
Once finished scattering them up a bit she took what was left and began to make the biggest bush, which made a crescent moon out of the most bushy branches.
"Now help me dig a shallow slop so in case they come from behind us instead of in front of us."

"Right."
As he worked, Magmafang allowed himself to imagine the outcomes of their little prank. He grinned as he thought of the cats walking nonchalantly along, only to be pounced by mud monsters. Hopefully Harbingersight would fall victim to their trap and then Magmafang could get his revenge!
"Hmhmhmhm," he chuckled softly.
He was finally starting to get into this plan. He dug rigorously, sending dirt everywhere- mostly in his face. He almost forgot where he was for a second. "Hahahahaha!"

She smiled for a moment at his excitement. As he dug Shimmerflight using a branch began to sweep away any evidence, flung dirt, any bush tracks, and any particularly noticeable paw steps. Flinging it somewhere when she finished she padded back, "you done~?"
She flicked her tail, pondering if she should prepare any bate. Would that make it too obvious? And the scent could attract any unwanted visitors... guess not. Prey was meant to be respected and eaten after giving thanks to Starclan anyways.

He stopped, suddenly, realizing that he got a little too excited. The ditch was finished now, anyway.
"Yeah, I'm done." He paused, not sure what was to come next. "What now? We wait for some suckers to come walking by?"
That sounded kind of boring...

She shook her head, "nope, we find out whose on the night patrol.~" She nodded, "because we don't wanna go around scaring cats of the kind you'd be scared to mix with." She flicked her tail in the direction of camp, "now hop to it! And don't be conspicuous and blunt! Find someone whose on the night patrol and ask them who else is gonna be there 'just out of curiosity' nyah~!" She nodded once again, "I'll stay here and pretend to hunt, if anyone gets too close I'll tell 'em I called dibs and chat them into going elsewhere.~"

"Alright, alright," Magmafang said and padded towards camp.
As he padded along, he thought about what he could say to find out who was on the night patrol. He wasn't exactly tactful...
No, wait! I'm the best warrior ever! This should be a piece of cake.
All he would have to do is ask his dad. Talking to his own father shouldn't be too sketchy...
He grinned mishievously as the camp came into view.
((So... who's on the night patrol? xD ))

Shimmerflight smiled before padding about, calculating their success rate. She kept her ears pricked, but not for prey this time.

Magmafang padded calmly around the camp looking for any sign of who would be on the patrol.
((Or we could use our own cats, like Spottedheart and Swiftclaw. ^^ ))
